Athanasia: My Hacker System-Chapter 227: The Enhanced Big Energy Cell
John looked at the text scrolling across his vision and sucked in a loud, cold breath of air.
"With this alone," he whispered, a fierce glint of excitement flashed in his eyes, "I can rest assured the base defences will hold infinitely. No more manual swapping. No more risk of losing a working cannon."
But as he looked at the massive, humming reactor, another thought took root. He moved his eyes across the piles of salvaged gear, the nature and greed of a hacker taking over.
"Even if I have a god-tier generator, the bottleneck is still the storage. To truly unlock the potential of the super cannons, I need to evolve the energy cells themselves. Perhaps I’ll get a second surprise today."
Now that he had solved the energy source problem, he shifted his focus toward output capacity. If he could upgrade the standard energy cells to a higher tier, just as he had done with the generators, the jump in super cannons’ lethality would be exponential.
He didn’t hesitate. He gathered ten standard energy cells and laid them out in a synchronised row, linking them with wires, the same way he did with the generators.
When he began editing the coding programs, he followed the same structural edits he’d used for the generator: merging the different energy cells into a singular, unified energy cell. He saved the unified cell script, took a deep breath, and pressed an activated core against one of the cells.
"Please work..."
The result was a mirror of his previous success. The ten energy cells didn’t just enhance; they underwent a physical molecular restructuring.
They vibrated with such intensity that they became a blur before snapping together, merging into a single, oversized, sleek energy cell that hummed with a deep, bass-heavy frequency.
John touched the new energy cell, checked the new description that came up with a system notification, and a loud, triumphant laugh escaped his throat.
[Enhanced Big Energy Cell: Advanced!]
[Description: An enhanced and advanced big energy cell designed and coded by John Mirage! It can output a huge amount of energy to recharge different numbers of energy-based weapons based on their grade!]
[Special Effect 1: Lightning Push: Passive!]
[Description: Every 2 minutes, the energy cell will emit a large pulse of power to trigger an immediate second attack of the defensive items attached to it!]
[Special Effect 2: Lightning Diffuse: Passive!]
[Description: The energy cell will diffuse energy into the air, covering all items running on energy in a radius of 100 meters.]
John stared at the new advanced generator and the massive energy cell with sparkling eyes. This was the missing link to advance his defensive and battle prowess in such type of brutal battles to the next level.
"I’m sure with these, I can finally let my super cannons off the leash," he excitedly muttered.
He was eager for a field test. He swept the two massive items into his inventory and sprinted up the stairs of the rampart. Below the wall, the yellow and red carpet of monsters was still clawing at the walls, an endless tide of mindless monstrosity and ferocity.
John ignored them as he deployed one of his enhanced cannons. Next to it, he slammed down the Advanced Generator and the Advanced Energy Cell. Then he edited the cannon right on the spot, adding the extra Bulltor race exclusion from its targeting menu.
The moment the items were placed in proximity, the coding loops he had written snapped into place. The cannon didn’t just turn on; it jolted to life with a violent, electric whine.
Simultaneously, the energy cell began to emit a brilliant, lime-green light that slowly faded and expanded, bathing the rampart with a wide umbrella, while the generator started humming with a faint but audible noise that made the air feel heavy.
John watched, mesmerised, as the cannon’s targeting function locked onto a cluster of Wrathers and yellow monsters, then fired.
*Rumble!*
The first shot didn’t just land; it exploded like a localised disaster. A deadly explosion rang out, tearing through the air and spreading a shockwave of lightning far and wide across the battlefield. In a single blow, hundreds of yellow monsters and dozens of Wrathers were instantly scorched and killed, leaving a smoking crater where a swarm had been a second ago.
If not for the Wrathers having their lightning protection, their toll of losses would have been as high as the yellow monsters. Yet John didn’t mind that. In fact, he was totally taken aback by such ferocity from the cannon.
"Damn! Is it just me, or did the lethality just jump up a whole notch?!" John blinked twice, staring at the destruction left by the single shot of the cannon.
The damage output was significantly higher than his previous tests with standard power sources. The logic was clear: the better the energy source feeding the weapon, the more the weapon’s base stats were forced to scale. It wasn’t just about how long the cannon could fire anymore; it was about how hard it could hit.
The enhancement didn’t stop at the sheer lethality of the shots; the cannon started firing with a frequency that far outstripped anything John recalled from other cannons.
Yet, what he truly scrutinised wasn’t the speed or the strength of the attacks, but the endurance of the cannon. He needed to know exactly how long this mechanical beast could roar before its energy cell ran out.
"This marks one whole hour," John muttered to himself. He had returned to the labour of evolving more energy cells, generators, and cannons after the first twenty minutes of the test had passed. Even now, sixty minutes in, the fierce, fast roaring of the cannon continued to vibrate through the vast battlefield in front of the walls.
What he noticed was a distinct pattern: every two minutes, the cannon would enter a state of frenzied, continuous firing that was exceptionally loud and violent. John knew this was the Lightning Push special effect of the advanced energy cell triggering.
When it worked with the Lightning Charge effect of the generator every ten minutes, the ferocity grew to an unbelievable extent that felt like the cannon was spraying a wide umbrella of deadly shots over the monsters down below.
This frenzied attack lasted for an entire minute of continuous and wider rage output that ended up clearing a massive area around the base.
