Attention Sir, I Have Your Heart Handcuffed!-Chapter 726: [Yan Jian Extra] 20, Things I Don’t Want to Do, People I Don’t Want to Meet (Part 1)
Even just the car and this seat made Yan Jian tremble with nervousness, not to mention the overbearing man next to her.
Yan Jian struggled to unbuckle her seatbelt and quietly looked at the car door lock.
He noticed and said coldly, "Trying to escape?"
She gripped the seatbelt tightly and glared at him: "What do you mean by ’escape’? I just want to leave! I heard Catherine was in an accident, and as a colleague I should visit her. But how could I forget her boyfriend is here too? With you going, there’s no need for me. So I’m not escaping, I’m just leaving!"
What a joke, it’s a couple meeting, what would it look like for her to be there too?
The frustration in her heart turned into aggression towards the seatbelt as she yanked it forcefully, struggling to break free from an indescribable emotion.
Suddenly, he slammed on the accelerator and his Koenigsegg darted into the night like a ghost, destroying any thought she had of leaving.
She turned to glare at him furiously, while he casually held the steering wheel, glancing back at her as if the speed had not already exceeded 200!
.
Fortunately, he had the sense to restrain himself once they were officially on the road, and the Koenigsegg sped to the emergency center at the maximum speed allowed by state law.
He dragged her out of the car directly and into the building.
He did not release her hand until they stood before Catherine!
Catherine looked at the two of them with a deep sadness in her eyes.
Unable to bear it, Yan Jian used all her strength to fling her arm away, stepping back behind his shadow.
In this place, at this time, she was unnecessary.
Catherine’s beautiful face was largely unharmed, reclining on the hospital bed, and from the bare upper body under the sheets, it seemed there was nothing seriously wrong.
While Catherine talked with James, Yan Jian slipped out quietly to ask the doctor.
The doctor sighed: "It looks like there’s no major harm because her upper body was protected by airbags. However, the most severe impact was below the waist..."
Yan Jian froze: "Doctor, do you mean..."
The doctor nodded somberly: "Yes, she might not be able to walk the runway again. And, the worst possible outcome is infertility."
A loud bang resonated in Yan Jian’s heart, "Does she know?"
The doctor shook his head: "She only knows half, that she might not be able to walk the runway again. We haven’t had the heart to tell her yet about the possibility of infertility."
Though not friends, as a fellow woman and given the days they had worked together, tears suddenly welled up in Yan Jian’s eyes. Such a beautiful woman, such a successful supermodel... could possibly lose everything so precious to her.
She looked back toward the ward, through the glass window, seeing James sitting by her bed while she smiled gently yet firmly at him, then reached out her hand, almost pleadingly, to hold his hand...
She hurriedly lowered her head, and somehow, tears started falling uncontrollably.
.
Yan Jian wanted to leave quietly at first, but knowing it wasn’t appropriate, she braced herself and entered the ward, going to Catherine’s side to greet her. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Catherine raised her green eyes, and the myriad tender emotions she had shown James before faded away, leaving only a businesslike look for Yan Jian. She nodded slightly: "Thank you for coming to see me. I know the doctor called the studio. Fortunately, you offered to work overtime tonight and were still at the studio so late, otherwise the doctor wouldn’t have been able to stay in contact."
Her green eyes flickered lightly and turned to James: "I didn’t expect you’d be with James."
Yan Jian was so embarrassed she could have strangled herself. She stammered a few times and lied: "...I called Mr. Fude after receiving the doctor’s notice."
Catherine laughed again: "Really? So you have his number."
James frowned as he listened, meeting Catherine’s gaze: "The number is mine, I can give it to whoever I want. You have a problem with that?"
Catherine’s face fell, her green eyes almost filling with tears.
Yan Jian was so embarrassed that she wished the ground would swallow her up and made a hasty exit: "Catherine, take care and recover. I’m leaving now. If there’s anything I can help with at the studio, just let me know. Goodbye."
She turned and left, almost running.
Pretending not to hear James’s low growl behind her: "Tang Yanjian, did I say you could leave?"
Who cares? It’s his business whatever he wants to do, but his way of handling things is not suited for her right now!
