Attribute Farming System-Chapter 110: At The Whim Of Higher Beings
"There's no need for that." The Sword Saint spoke without opening his eyes, his white robes billowing about in a tranquil way. "One would have to be blind not to sense an aura as overwhelming as yours—even if you may conceal it as well as you do. However, why did it have to be you?"
The Air Nation Representative did not respond. He merely stared at the inexpressive Sword Saint, half his face covered behind a high-raised robe collar.
The Sword Saint sighed.
The Air Nation Representative didn't so much as blink. One moment, the Sword Saint's sword was resting in its sheath; the next, it gleamed under the searing glow of a massive fireball plummeting from the heavens, its heat distorting the air between them.
The speed at which the Sword Saint unsheathed his sword was such that it looked as if it had instantaneously teleported…
The Air Nation Representative's brows furrowed to match his sudden surge of seriousness.
The Sword Saint frowned. "Fine then, make the first move, Aero, the Cyclone Patriarch. If this is the decision you have chosen, then so be it."
Aero made not a peep, but his following actions spoke louder than any words could have.
As a clash of swords shattered time and space in a location hundreds of thousands of miles away, a lone Nagikatana-wielding human was faced with a giant ball of fire over a million times his size.
"BLAME YOURSELF FOR BEING TOO WEAK!!!"
Listening to the deranged shouts of Sect Leader Ten Thousand Poisons, Knox dug earwax out of his ears. He flicked away the wax before blurring in place, his hand unsheathing and sheathing his Nagikatana in repeated motion.
|True Unsheath| X100000 - [Level 7 Sword Intent]
This technique was merely of the Sky Rank, but after some imaginative thinking, Knox devised a way to ascend it far past its preconceived rank.
SHING! SHING! SHING!
The solution was to simply spam the hell out of it!
However, this in and of itself did not make for a functional technique. After all, each slash would hit the target at different intervals. No matter how fast one slashed, that wouldn't change.
But this was where the missing component came into play: the Time Law.
|Time Law - Level 3: Time Stop| - (Limited Area)
Although Knox was only capable of freezing everything within a few inches of himself, that was more than enough for what he needed it for.
As the sword arcs powered up by |True Unsheath| piled up in the hundreds of thousands, the massive ball of fire incinerated the clouds above and the fields below as it plummeted. Yet, within the tiny sphere of influence blotted out by an incalculable number of sword arcs, a cold smile crept up an otherwise flawless face.
Activating a sword-shaped Half-Saint Amulet that rested over his neckbone, Knox's sword power multiplied severalfold. A bit of gratefulness lurked within his heart before his smile grew colder, and then words that crackled and sparked were spoken by him—words that would end it all:
"Time," Knox began, his voice resonating with one of the most unsolved mysteries of the Universe. "Unstop."
SHIIINNGG—!
Without warning, all of the stacked-up sword arcs flew out at the same time. And due to how densely packed they were, their damage effectively multiplied. Furthermore, this happened within a very small linear range, meaning the damage was not spread out.
It was intensified in a single spot.
One that shot straight through the massive flaming sun, bursting it apart. The resulting flames rained from the skies, spreading everywhere like a firestorm from hell.
However, while this was happening, a monstrous many-armed creature wiggled erratically. Its blackened eyes flickered and spasmed as they looked toward their shared body.
There—at the center of their existence—was a hole.
It had a rough diameter of tens of thousands of meters and took up a large chunk of Sect Leader Ten Thousand Poisons' body. Blood poured out of the hole, mixing together with the mutated brain matter that had been reduced to the atomic level on contact.

"I… I was supposed to be invincible..."
The last words to leave Sect Leader Ten Thousand Poisons' many mouths were those of disbelief. His remaining eyes then rolled into the backs of their heads as the abomination that was the Sect Leader fell from the heavens like a fallen star.
His Body—Devastated.
His Nascent Soul—Obliterated.
His Primordial Soul—Erased.
Sect Leader Ten Thousand Poisons of the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect was no more.
His well-thought-out and elaborate scheme was deemed a failure. His life forfeited. His reputation tarnished. His appearance grotesque.
There were not many worse ways to go out…
"Till the end, you were nothing much."
Knox's emotionless words echoed as the scene around him could only be described as apocalyptic. Fire rained from the heavens—a torrential-flame Armageddon. Sword and spell attacks of unbelievable magnitude flashed in every direction, the residual damage enough to topple cities and towns.
Yet, in the midst of it all, he stood. Still and composed. With a listless gaze that seemed to be appraising everything and yet nothing all at once.
"In a matter of mere moments, tens of millions lost their lives," he spoke as if he were a timeless being. "But for us, it's as if nothing more than ants were squashed—their lives meaningless. Just as a regular mortal views an insect as something not worth its life, we view lesser existences the same way. It makes one wonder, though….."
"What of the higher beings that live above us like gods over bugs?" His sight was brought to the stars, where he imagined the appearance of starry figures whose sizes could not be properly measured by normal standards. "The Outer Gods. What if one of them just all of a sudden determined the continued existence of the Elemental Nations and Azura Empire to not matter anymore?"
This question furrowed Knox's brows in deep thought.
It was a harrowing one…
Yet also a self-realizing one.
"I need to become stronger," he affirmed his realization, his eyes igniting with an everlasting fire. "I can't stop acquiring more strength. Not in this life, not in the next. Not until only I stand above all else."
OUUNG!
