Chapter 29: -Blood in the Dragon Ruins-

The Sect Master smiled as he watched them and said:

"Elliot, we have all seen your strength in the last duel, but there are still obvious gaps in your skills, especially in controlling and refining spiritual energy. As for you, Kyber, you have a unique talent, but you need to learn how to use your potential more efficiently."

Then he stood from his place, took a few steps forward, and added:

"Training will not be easy. I will divide you into several training phases, and we will start with the most important thing... controlling spiritual energy during combat."

Elliot and Kyber exchanged glances, then Kyber said excitedly:

"I'm ready for anything!"

Two months had passed since Elliot and Kyber began their rigorous training under the Sect Master's supervision. During this time, the sect was experiencing a period of relative calm, but far beyond the palace walls, in a mysterious place called the "Dragon Ruins," a massacre had begun.

Amidst the dense forest, shadows danced under the moonlight, while thick fog spread through the ruined remains. Groups of disciples from various sects were there, searching for ancient treasures or rare resources, unaware that death lurked in the darkness.

Deep within the ruins, a tall, mysterious figure stood, wielding a massive spear that shimmered with a bloody glow. His glowing eyes observed the disciples as they moved cautiously, like prey waiting to be hunted.

"W-what was that?!" one of the disciples whispered, a shiver running down his spine.

In an instant, the sound of air being torn apart echoed. No one saw how the attacker moved, but suddenly, a disciple's head fell to the ground while his body remained standing for a moment before collapsing.

"It's a ghost!!" someone screamed as panic spread, and everyone scattered in different directions. But the bloody spear followed them like a relentless shadow.

The battle was brutal. Limbs flew, blood soaked the ground, and screams filled the air, but there was no one to hear them...

In the midst of this horror, the attacker stood atop a pile of corpses. He raised his spear and swung it, sending blood splattering into the air like dark rain. Then, in a cold voice, he whispered:

"You are all still far too weak..."

Night had begun to settle, wrapping the sect in its dark cloak, while tendrils of cold mist slithered through the alleys and stone corridors like ghosts dancing in the shadows. In this eerie silence, where only the wind could be heard colliding against the palace walls, something was moving in the darkness... something that was not supposed to be there.

Elliot stood in the training courtyard, gazing at the scattered stars in the sky, his mind replaying the words of the elder and the Sect Master about the necessity of refinement. He had spent the past two months in relentless training, pushing his body and mind to their limits, yet he knew something was still missing. He felt an emptiness inside him, an invisible wall preventing him from breaking into the spiritual realm.

At that moment, Kyber approached with quiet steps, carrying his spear on his back, and said in a low voice:

"You've been thinking a lot lately, Elliot."

Elliot looked at him thoughtfully, then gave a faint smile and said:

"Maybe because I'm starting to understand the world more deeply... or maybe because I've realized that strength isn't just about skills and techniques."

Kyber chuckled and tightened his grip on his spear.

"Have you become a philosopher now? Come on, let's see where this deep understanding has taken you."

But before Elliot could respond, a sudden scream rang out in the distance, slicing through the silence like a blade. It was a scream of pain... a scream of terror.

Elliot and Kyber exchanged quick glances before rushing toward the source of the sound. A sense of danger crawled over their skin like an electric current, their hearts pounding faster than usual.

Blood in the Dragon Ruins

When they arrived at the scene, the sight before them was a living nightmare. Torn bodies, blood splattered across the rocks, and worse... that dark aura coiling around the killer.

He was a tall man wielding a long spear drenched in blood. His face was hidden behind a metal mask that revealed only two crimson-glowing eyes. He stood amidst the corpses as if standing in a field of flowers, completely unaffected by the horror he had unleashed.

Kyber was frozen in place, while Elliot whispered to himself:

"This... is not human."

The masked man slowly raised his spear and pointed it at Elliot, speaking in a deep, chilling voice:

"You... are the one I'm looking for."

Elliot's body tensed for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure and asked in a calm tone despite the tension in his chest:

"And who are you?"

The man laughed—a laugh like iron striking stone—then said:

"I am not a person... I am a message."

And then, suddenly, he disappeared.

There was no time to think. Elliot leaped backward as the man reappeared before him in an instant, launching a swift strike with his spear. Elliot barely managed to dodge, but a wave of violent energy burst from the spear's tip, hurling him backward with tremendous force.

The Impossible Confrontation

Elliot landed on his feet with difficulty, while Kyber had already drawn his spear and charged at the enemy. A fierce clash erupted—rapid strikes, sparks flying with each collision. But it quickly became evident that Kyber was no match for this man.

In a single moment, Kyber received a powerful blow that sent him stumbling back, coughing up blood. The man then spoke in a cold voice:

"Weak..."

Elliot felt anger rise within him, but he masked it with his usual calm. He drew his sword and assumed a combat stance, fully aware that his opponent was not just an ordinary fighter.

The man didn't wait long; he attacked again. The two exchanged blows at lightning speed, each attack shaking the ground beneath them. Elliot relied on his speed and stealth skills, but his opponent remained unaffected, as if he could see through his movements even in the darkness.

Then, something unexpected happened...

A system notification appeared before Elliot:

Emergency Mission: Survive the Unknown Assassin.Reward: Hidden.

There was no time for shock. Suddenly, the masked man changed his approach, unleashing a massive wave of dark energy that forced Elliot to retreat. Then, in a quiet yet terrifying tone, he said:

"I have come to take you... whether you're ready or not."

Elliot felt something dark stirring within the man... something that did not belong to this world.

And then, before he could react, his vision went black.

The world around him faded into complete darkness.

When Elliot opened his eyes...

He found himself in an entirely different place.

He was no longer in the sect. He was no longer even in the world he knew.
