Chapter 245: The fallens are found

Thousands of Corruption Beasts with butterfly-like wings swarmed toward Daniel, like a wave of living darkness.

With a single leap, he threw himself into the air, enhancing The Heavens Honor with a surge of death energy. The blade shined, and thin streams of Eternity energy flowed through it, as if time and death had fused inside the sword.

Ever since reaching B-rank, the Flower of Eternity had evolved slightly, and now the amount of Eternity power he could borrow had increased significantly.

With a sharp spin, he swung the blade at the first beast. The black scales tore apart, green sticky blood sprayed out, and the creature crashed to the ground with a horrible shriek. One down... but still too many left.

The beasts shrieked with the cry of corruption. The sound stabbed into Daniel’s mind like a dagger, breaking his focus for a moment.

’I can’t lose focus!’ There were too many of them—one slip could mean serious injury.

He ignited flames into his blade. Red and black fire erupted from The Heavens Honor and shot toward a group of beasts. Their fragile wings caught fire, and several of them screamed as they fell to the ground.

One of the beasts lunged at Daniel’s shoulder with venomous jaws. He dodged quickly, but its fangs grazed his arm. The poison spread through his body like acid, burning as if it was melting flesh and skin.

He clenched his teeth as blood poured from the wound and his arm went numb.

’Fuck this luck,’ he wanted to curse, but there was no point—and he couldn’t use Mana Healing to recover either.

With a quick move, he concentrated death energy in his body to neutralize the venom, but doing so rapidly drained his mana.

’I have to finish this faster... before the queen wakes up.’ His instincts screamed that if the queen woke up, it would turn into a disaster.

With his current limitations, he’d rather leave that giant queen to the city’s authorities.

The beasts launched a barrage of sharp scales. The black scales rained down like blades. Daniel spun midair, using The Heavens Honor like a shield to deflect some of the scales, but a few hit his legs and sides.

Deep wounds opened. His blood sprayed across the cave floor, and pain surged through his body like a wave.

He stared at the beasts’ fragile wings.

’August said their wings are fragile... that’s their weak point,’ he thought to himself.

With a high leap, he charged toward a group of beasts. His blade now boosted with death and fire energy. With one precise strike, he shredded the wings of several beasts. Their fragile wings tore like paper, and the creatures crashed into the ground, their bodies crushed under the weight of their own scales.

’Even more fragile than I expected,’ he was surprised for a moment but quickly refocused.

The monsters didn’t retreat. Another group attacked with a storm of wings. A whirlwind of wind and corruption surrounded Daniel, spinning him midair and throwing off his balance.

’Shit... I can’t see properly!’ Worse, he could feel the corruption aura invading deep into his body and soul.

One of the beasts attacked from behind, sinking its jaws into the back of Daniel’s knee. Pain shot through him like thunder, blood burst out, and he fell toward the ground.

With the last of his strength, he stabbed his blade into the ground to stop his fall. He looked toward the massive nest in the distance—it was still silent, but the pulse of the queen had gotten faster.

Thankfully, she hadn’t woken up yet.

Daniel leapt back into the air and swung The Heavens Honor with all his strength. A wave of black death energy burst from the blade and disintegrated several beasts midair. Green and black blood splattered into the air like a rain of corruption.

He focused on the enemies’ fragile wings. With every swing, he targeted them directly. One after another, the beasts fell to the ground, their wings torn and bodies shattered under the power of The Heavens Honor.

But their numbers didn’t stop. How are there this many?

A larger group attacked with another wave of sharp scales. Daniel tried to dodge, but some hit his shoulder and chest. Deep wounds opened again, and his blood poured down like a red stream onto the ground. The pain was so intense he couldn’t breathe for a second—but he roared in anger and released his fire.

Red and black flames exploded from his body and incinerated a whole group of beasts. Their wings melted in the flames, and their screams echoed through the cave.

I have to keep going... even if my body falls apart.

Every hit he took, every strike he delivered, Daniel’s mind was full of chaotic thoughts. In the middle of the fight, he had to make sure the queen didn’t wake up.

His wounds burned. Blood poured from his arms and legs, and every movement felt like being stabbed with a knife. He channeled Eternity energy into his blade. The sword shined, as if time itself was standing still inside it. He charged into the heart of the swarm, slicing through wings and bodies alike.

Green and black blood stained the cave floor, and the beasts’ screams became a symphony of death echoing through the space.

After a long and brutal battle, he finally managed to tear through the swarm and slaughter every last one of them.

On top of that, the level of the sword’s evolution had almost reached its peak—and with just a little more killing, it would finally complete its next evolution.

He slowly landed on the ground. The queen was still asleep. Some of the eggs had been damaged during the battle.

He looked at the broken eggs—and to his surprise, they were all humans. But wings had grown out of their backs, and their faces had started to resemble those of the Corruption Beasts.

However, their bodies seemed hollow. All their original organs had been eaten, and new ones were growing in their place.

"So this is how it reproduces... They don’t kill the humans they capture. They turn them into new Corruption Beasts," Daniel frowned and felt a wave of anger rise inside him.

"If that’s true... then my Fallen must be inside one of these eggs too," he muttered.

There were too many eggs... How was he supposed to find his Fallen?

Well, the only way was to break them one by one.

He was about to start, but suddenly a cold chill ran through his body.

"Looks like they failed to kill the intruder," a deep and terrifying voice came from behind him.

He slowly turned around—and what he saw shocked him.

"I see... so one of you has already been turned into a Corruption Beast," what stood in front of him was another Corruption Beast.

One that could speak... and more importantly, one of his Fallen—or should he say, one of his former Fallen.
