Chapter 36: Episode 36: Zarek can’t burn this.

We cannot do this.

The trees had been cut down, and the weeds had been pulled out; the only thing that remained was a layout of how the first house/example is going to be.

Roxy stared at the wolves with deep concentration.

System, I can barely build a Lego set without having a mental breakdown. How the fuck am I going to oversee a construction site?

The wolves soon turned to her expectantly, waiting for a new command. They were getting the hang of things, working together.

Vorn was holding the massive two-man saw like it was a foreign object that weighed nothing at all.

It was sharp, but that was the only thing he thought of it.

Kaelen was testing the weight of the axe, his muscles coiling, waiting for the moon goddess to speak through his mate again, just like before.

In his mind, he was grateful that he listened to his thoughts to take her by force.

[Ding!]

Roxy snapped her head to the blue screen right when she was having a headache.

[Item Activated: Blueprint - Fire-Resistant Log Cabin.]

That’s it! System, you are brilliant!

If it’s fire-resistant, that means even the dragons won’t be able to burn it down. Iron-wood trees are fire-resistant; if they were so easy to burn down, the wolves would have been the most hunted.

Roxy’s troubled heart finally calmed down. The blue lines appeared on the forest floor, outlining a perfect square foundation. Images of where the logs should go flickered in Roxy’s vision like an Augmented reality game.

Excitement rolled in Roxy’s bones, and she was grinning from ear to ear.

The wolves looked at her expression with dread, looking at themselves as if wondering if she had lost her mind.

"Thank god!" Roxy muttered, letting out a breath.

She stood up on the stump, cupping her hands around her mouth. "Alright, listen up, you puppies! The moon goddess has spoken! Vorn, Rox, ready your saw. It’s a two-man job. One pushes, one pulls."

Vorn looked at the saw with deep suspicion, but Rax grabbed the other handle, eager to experiment with what she ordered.

They set the blade against a massive trunk that looked older than the dinosaurs.

The Saw barely moved. Vorn growled and was about to bite the handle when Roxy’s voice snapped at him.

"No biting the equipment!" Roxy shouted, pointing a finger. "Move your saw back and forth! Put your back into it!"

They pulled again. This time, the steel bit into the word, singing a high-pitched song that made the wolves’ ears twitch. Sawdust sprayed into the air, and they all flinched but didn’t stop.

Soon, the trunk was cut in two, and everyone was surprised.

"See?" Roxy snickered. "Can your claws ever do something like that?" She asked, giving them the eye.

They all looked at the saw in awe and wondered if this was sorcery.

"Kaelen! You’re on axe duty." Roxy shouted. "I need notches cut here, here, and here!" She pointed to the holographic markers only she could see.

They were on the trees, so Kaelen quickly navigated them.

While Rax and Vorn were busy sewing the trunks with other males who quickly learned from their example, Kaelen started on his own work.

He didn’t argue. He stripped off the heavy fur draping his shoulders, leaving him in just his loincloth to allow for movement. He grabbed the axe Roxy had purchased and began hitting the trees.

Roxy paused. She stopped breathing for a solid three seconds.

Kaelen swung the axe. His back muscles rippled like water, and her pussy clenched with need. She swallowed.

Is this considered cheating? She barked at her mind, Cheating? Every female is a slut in this era; they don’t care about loyalty, they care about fucking and getting pregnant.

They may have only one mate, but that didn’t always apply to females, especially in this book.

Sweat instantly began to glisten on his pale skin, even though he wasn’t putting all his strength into it; it was highlighting every scar, every vein, every ridge of muscle that flexed with power.

Damn, he was hot.

He obliterated a chunk of the wood with a single swing.

Roxy felt like he was hitting her like that.

[TheSassyGoddess fans herself. She requests a slow-motion replay.]

[TheMotheroftheWorld reminds you to focus on the shelter, not his abs.]

How can I not focus on both of them? Goddamn, maybe it was really the right thing to travel to this world. All the men so far looked deliciously good.

The book didn’t do justice to their appearance.

Roxy wiped a bit of drool from the corner of her mouth.

The afternoon passed in a blur of sweat and surprising efficiency. She didn’t know it would be this fast until she was finally looking at the uncompleted structure.

The wolves, who usually solved problems by biting them or howling at them, were learning fast. They found a rhythm and stuck to it; they were not foolish beasts. The zip-zop saw, and the thwack of the axes replaced the silence of the forest.

But Roxy needed to be sure of one thing.

"Kaelen!" She called out during a water break; thankfully, there was a stream close by. "Let’s test the wood."

Kaelen paused, wiping sweat from his brow with his forearm. "Test it?"

"Burn it," Roxy ordered. "We need to know if I was wrong about my calculations."

Kaelen frowned. "The iron-wood trees are very strong and sturdy; even dragon fire cannot bring them down."

Roxy blinked at him. "I know, burn it." She repeated.

Kaelen was stunned but agreed either way. He grabbed a log that had been cut away. He struck a flint spark against dry leaves until a small fire started. He fed the fire with the wood, it built up.

The wolves gathered around, watching. Usually, a wood caught fire instantly.

But the wood just sat there. It smoked, but it didn’t catch fire. The density was so high that the fire couldn’t penetrate it.

"I told you, it won’t burn." He said, with a proud look on his face.

"Exactly," Roxy smirked, crossing her arms. "If Zarek comes knocking, he’s going to have to huff and puff a hell of a lot harder to blow this house down. So you guys can be safe."

[Kaelen’s Affection has increased to 20%]

Wow, what a massive jump.

The males look at you in awe. Despite Roxy being the Dragon King’s mate, she was so kind, like a goddess, to save their dying clan.

[Clan Loyalty Increased: 30%]

But there was barely any time.
