Baby System: I'm the Beast World's Only Hope!-Chapter 44: Episode : How to Communicate.
Kaelen nodded. "I will patrol tonight. Vorn will guard your door."
He didn’t know why his female had just said that, but he had a sense of what she meant. He stared into the distance and could already guess who it was that disturbed his mate.
"Good." Roxy stood up, stretching. The party was winding down mostly because everyone had gone to their own cabins to exercise.
"Come on, Wolfy," she said, taking his hand. "Let’s go home. I think you owe me a foot rub."
Kaelen swept her up into his arms, bridal style. "I owe you everything."
The night was spent with Roxy giggling and kicking her feet at Kaelen, who was tickling her. After that, they resorted to sleep.
The next morning, Roxy woke up quite disturbed by the morning sun that filtered through the window of the Iron-wood cabin. Roxy woke up to the smell of grilled meat.
She blinked, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She rolled around in the fur trying to find sleep once again, before she groggily sat up on the fur bed.
She was about to step out of bed when a deep, rough voice stopped her.
"Don’t move," he commanded.
Roxy froze mid-stretch, and Kaelen stood there by the doorway to the little kitchen she had constructed.
But what made Roxy giggle was what he was wearing.
Was that a fucking apron tied around his waist?
Well, it wasn’t technically an apron. It was a piece of leather he had tied around his waist to protect his loincloth from grease splatter, but the effect was the same.
It wasn’t too long before she started teaching the ladies how to sew clothes and sell them off to other friendly predators they were in touch with.
Sera had given her the rundown that in the beast world, it was only the mermaids and the dragons that lived like separate entities.
The other predators live amongst each other and even sell goods to each other; the only thing they don’t like doing is mating amongst themselves.
Kaelen was holding a wooden try in his massive hands.
"I made food," Kaelen announced proudly.
He walked over to the bed and set the tray down on her lap. It wasn’t too hot and just the right warmth against her skin, thanks to the wooden tray.
Roxy smelled the scent of eggs and spices, and her mouth watered.
It was a masterpiece. Fluffy scrambled eggs thanks to the milk Roxy bought, thick cuts of meat stripped like bacon, and a bowl of fresh berries. Beside it sat a wooden carved cup of herbal tea.
She knew that teaching Kaelen how to cook would pay off big time.
If I had known, I would have forced Z to do the same, instead of hunting every fucking time.
"Kaelen?" Roxy whispered with a gulp, staring at the food. "Did you... Really... cook all these?"
Kaelen nodded, a rare, shy smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
[TheSassyGoddess claims that the wolf king wants to be petted.]
"After you taught me, I wanted to prepare something for you," Kaelen said, crouching to the floor. He reached out his hand and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. His eyes were soft, filled with adoration. "Roxy wants food, so I will cook for you."
Roxy chuckled, her heart filled with warmth as she shoved a piece of meat into her mouth, letting out a moan of pleasure.
It melted into her mouth; though it was lacking a little salt, it was good.
Oh god, that’s good.
While she was eating, Kaelen suddenly lifted her leg to inspect her ankles. He frowned at a slight swelling.
It made him slightly pissed seeing it there.
Kaelen growled, and it immediately jolted Roxy from her eating. When she looked at the way he focused her glare at her ankle, her eyes softened into pools.
"I am just pregnant, Wolfy, not an invalid," she teased. "It’s just something that is meant to happen."
"I will massage them later," he decided, letting her leg down carefully. "After you eat. And then, I will brush your hair. After that, I will carry you outside to receive some fresh air."
[TheMotheroftheWorld swoons, saying that Kaelen was peak husband material.]
[TheSassyGoddess asks if he has a brother.]
As if, do you think if he had a brother, the brother wouldn’t come to see who exactly was mated to his brother?
And besides, Kaelen hadn’t mentioned any brother so far.
"You’re spoiling me," Roxy murmured, feeding him a berry with a satisfied feeling in her heart.
But she was still worried; she had spent the entire night dreaming about the baby in the dragon territory. She knew that Z was coming, but would he bring her child? She doesn’t know.
She was worried that he wasn’t feeding well and began to think about whether it would be possible to sneak back and visit the child.
System, was there equipment I could buy to communicate with Lyra from the other tribe?
[There is a communication stone you have to use, but you have to deliver the other stone to the other person before it can work.]
She hummed deep in thought.
What are the perks of the stone?
[Audio and Video ability. Enhanced audio from both sides, walks similar to a phone.]
Great! How much does it cost?
[Your current account balance is 1,306,250 LP]
Damn, I spent a lot of money, hopefully I can make it back soon enough.
She pressed her palm against her stomach, only for her to widen when she saw the strings on the screen.
[Item: Linked Heart-Stones (Pair)]

Roxy choked on her tea.
The fuck do you mean two hundred and fifty thousand?!!! Does it come with a data plan and a subscription to Netflix? What’s with the mighty demand, you fucking robot.
[...]
[TheFinancialDefender shrugs, saying that this was supply and demand. That you are the one with the separation anxiety.
She groaned.
"Roxy?" Kaelen called out for her, but Roxy didn’t answer, lost in what she wanted to purchase.
Fine. She groaned again, tapping the purchase button with aggressive force. This is all I have to do for baby Drax.
[Transaction Complete. 250,000 LP Deducted.]
[Remaining Balance: 1,056,250 LP.]
A smooth, warm stone the size of a river rock materialized in her hand. It pulsed with a soft pink light.
[Please designate recipients for Stone B.]
Later.
"Roxann!" Kaelen snapped, and Roxy jolted from the thundering voice call of her name.
She totally forgot that she was talking to Kaelen!
"Sorry, Kae, what were you saying again?" she asked, hiding the stones in her inventory, before he could notice them.
Though he noticed, but didn’t concentrate on it.
"I said I was serving Luna," Kaelen continued with a soft smile on his face, feeding her a berry. "And the pup."
He placed a large, warm hand on her flat stomach. He could sense the child in her belly; it was growing well, and it made his heart feel warm and full.
"He is strong like his mother," Kaelen whispered reverently.
Just when Roxy was about to speak, the door was kicked down. Standing at the doorway with a furious expression was Vorn.
And he did not look pleased to see Kaelen.
