Chapter 619: Extra Two: Controllable Range Target Lock Three_1

Li Fei suddenly felt that the dormitory atmosphere was off, she lightly nudged Chen Lu, pointing towards Jiujiu’s bed.

Chen Lu’s face abruptly went pale; after all, she had been discussing this behind someone’s back and was heard by the person in question. She leaned over Jiujiu’s bed awkwardly, looking at Jiujiu with her eyes shut, her tears soaking her pillow, and guiltily said, "Jin Ming, I’m sorry, it was unintentional."

Jiujiu pulled over her quilt, covering her head; she didn’t want to deal with anyone right now.

Li Fei and Chen Lu exchanged a glance; Li Fei also came over and whispered, "Jin Ming, we didn’t mean it, really. Even if we did talk about it, we didn’t have any malice, we were just worried about you."

Jiujiu, in a nasal tone, said, "I am fine, I want to sleep, don’t bother me."

Chen Lu wanted to say something more, but was gently pulled away by Li Fei. Before leaving, Li Fei said to Jiujiu, "You rest first, we will go and grab you a meal from the cafeteria."

Over the next few days, Jiujiu was very quiet, as if she had returned to her pre-nine-year-old self overnight, a time when she didn’t know Gu Xiaobei and was still a sensitive and timid little girl.

Chen Lu apologized to Jiujiu several times, but Jiujiu didn’t respond, she didn’t say whether she forgave her or not.

Chen Lu was a bit annoyed and vented her discontent in the dormitory, "What’s so great about her? I’ve already apologized to her, what more does she want?"

Li Fei advised, "Let’s not say anymore, we were the ones in the wrong to begin with. Jin Ming must be feeling upset, let’s not discuss this anymore."

Chen Lu grumbled in dissatisfaction, decided not to pay attention to Jin Ming anymore. What’s the big deal? It’s just losing a friend.

Jiujiu shuttled between her classroom, the cafeteria, and her dormitory every day, living a life of solitude. It suited her, as it kept her away from hearing things she didn’t want to hear. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Li Fei entered the dormitory and glanced at Jiujiu, who was reading on her upper bunk. She whispered, "Jin Ming, there are two people looking for you downstairs. Is your father here?"

Jiujiu was taken aback, she silently climbed down from her bed, put on her cotton jacket and shoes, and left the room.

Chen Lu curiously asked Li Fei, "Is Jin Ming’s father here?"

Li Fei shook her head, "I’m not sure, one of them is older, looks about the right age. The other one is a soldier, quite young, and very handsome."

This piqued Chen Lu’s curiosity even more, she got out of bed, put on her shoes, and prepared to go and have a look.

Jiujiu exited the dormitory building and was surprised to see Ji Xiangdong, standing tall dressed in a navy blue cashmere coat, and Li Duo, in full military outfit, under the parasol tree on the opposite side of the dormitory, "Uncle Ji, how come you’re here?"

Ji Xiangdong looked at Jiujiu with a fond smile, "I’m here in S city for business, your mom specifically asked me to check up on you, and your grandpa Ji also asked me to check on your uncle Li Duo." After Qin Li handed over her business to Ji Xiangdong, he was stretched thin. After communicating with Gu Xiaobei over the phone, he let Ou Ruoshui manage the tea factory and wholesale store businesses.

In the year 90’s, Ji Xiangdong’s family moved back to the Capital City, leaving the business in the province entirely to Ou Ruoshui.

Jiujiu showed a rare smile, "I’m doing fine here, tell my mom not to worry about me when you go back." While she was speaking, she didn’t look at Li Duo, acting as if she didn’t notice him.

Li Duo looked at Jiujiu in her peach-colored cotton dress, her small face flushed pink due to the reflection off her dress. He wondered in amazement if this child really didn’t remember him, a sudden discomfort filled his heart.

Chen Lu and Li Fei were stealthily peeking at them from the dormitory door. Chen Lu looked at Li Duo, his tall figure accentuated by his military uniform, his handsome features displaying a sense of indifference. When she compared him to the boys in their class, she instantly felt that the boys in their class were too immature and dull.

Chen Lu’s eyes kept flittering back and forth, she whispered to Li Fei, "They must be Jin Ming’s father and brother, right? Should we go and say hello?"

Li Fei hesitated and shook her head, "I’m not going, if you want to, you can go. I need to go back to the dormitory to do laundry." She turned around and went upstairs. Although she also thought Jiujiu’s brother was very handsome, it seemed awkward to go and introduce herself out of the blue.

Chen Lu thought for a moment, seeing Jiujiu and the others about to leave, she quickly ran over, hooked Jiujiu’s arm and said cheerfully, "Mr. Jin, I am Chen Lu, a good friend of Jin Ming’s, nice to meet you, big brother Jin."

Ji Xiangdong glanced at the flower-like smiling Chen Lu; this girl’s little schemes were all too apparent. He nodded politely.

Jiujiu felt a little awkward. When did they become good friends? She tried to break free, but Chen Lu had her arm in a tight grasp.

Seeing the unwilling expression on Jiujiu’s face, Ji Xiangdong suggested with a smile, "Jiujiu, why don’t we invite your classmate to join us for dinner?"

Jiujiu could only nod her head. She turned to look at Chen Lu, whose face was blooming with joy. A sudden wave of disgust washed over her. When she first came to the school, she thought Chen Lu was a very cheerful and talkative person and even considered Chen Lu a true friend. But now it seemed that Chen Lu was the type to say one thing and mean another.

Chen Lu, linking her arm with Jiujiu, left the school gates. She saw Ji Xiangdong walking towards a black Santana sedan parked by the school entrance. Her eyes widened, she thought to herself, could it be that Jiujiu’s family is very rich?

Ji Xiangdong was driving, Li Duo was sitting in the passenger seat, and Jiujiu and Chen Lu were in the back seat.

Once Jiujiu got on the car, she couldn’t stop asking, "Is my aunt alright? What about Xiaopang and Mo Wang? They must be in the second grade now, right? Have they grown taller? Did my aunt receive the letter I wrote? How are Doudou and Tiantian?"

Ji Xiangdong replied with a smile, "They are all very well. Your aunt said that she will come to see you after she is done with her current lot of work. Mo Wang has skipped a grade, he started third grade this academic year."

Jiujiu, pleasantly surprised, said, "Mo Wang is so amazing! Uncle Ji, please tell my aunt when you go back, if she’s too busy, she doesn’t need to come. I will visit them in Capital City during the summer vacation next year."

Chen Lu wondered internally. So he was not Jin Ming’s father? She had her doubts before because, Jiujiu’s daily expenditures didn’t seem to match that of a child from a wealthy family.

Ji Xiangdong glanced at Li Duo who was sitting silently on one side, "During your winter vacation, you can travel with your Uncle Li Duo. He is going back home this winter to visit his family. It is better to have someone accompany you on the journey."

Jiujiu looked at the back of Li Duo, absent-mindedly responded with an "Oh".

Chen Lu gleefully said, "Jin Ming, I will travel with you during the winter vacation, I will just have to get off one stop before you."

Jiujiu pressed her lips together and didn’t respond.

From the rearview mirror, Ji Xiangdong looked at Chen Lu and said with a slight chuckle, "It’s good to have you for company, as parents, it puts us at ease."

Li Duo, about to rebut, saw Ji Xiangdong giving him a meaningful look.

Li Duo nodded, turned around and asked Jiujiu, "Jiujiu, I will probably leave on January 5th or 6th, when are your exams?"

Before Jiujiu could reply, Chen Lu jumped in, "We start winter vacation on the 6th."
