Barbaric Spouse, Descry the Night's Lure-Chapter 243: Scene CCXLIII
Holding the girl’s face with a loving stroke, Ewelina fondly expressed to grant some warmth to the downcast Nu, attaining a small smile from the concerned child who nodded, more relieved once receiving the kindness of her Master.
“I am to go now. Do continue to take care of the horses for Gilead is now busy, yes?”
“Aie... Safely go and return, Master’s wife. Will the stroll take long? Nu will worry if Master’s wife takes too long to come back...”
“You are not to feel concerned, I should not be gone for long, yet if night paints the sky and I have not returned, do inform Gilead.” — Giving the girl a course of action in case something did occur, Ewelina mounted the horse. Taking the reigns as if accustomed and making it move to then tell playful to the girl watching as the horse took her away. — “As you can see there is no problem. Lose concern, Nu. I am to come back before dusk!”
“!! Buh-bye, Master’s wifeee~!” — In awe, the girl jumped happily while waving goodbye. Watching with surprise how well her Master rode although not perfectly the amiable mount. Mumbling to herself with delight how she admired the sight. — “... Master’s wife learned on her own... Nu should reflect as Master’s wife said so Nu can share more time with Master’s wife...”
The air that caressed her visage while riding out of the Orteu’s walls lessened as she made the mount slow down, slightly nervous as she went into the territory, stroking its fur to request of the beast’s gentleness towards her inexperience in this stroll.
“Ouh...ou... slow now... do help my path, good friend... We should be careful like Nu said...”
Receiving a wild shake of its head in a good mood, she smiled. Tracing with her eyes the woods she was entering, recognising the path she should take towards the Orteu’s graveyard. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Leaves of a similar hue to her fur and eyes surrounded her while the steed peacefully walked her where she led it to. The pleasure of the air’s taste settled within her as the scent of nature filled her lungs... as fresh as she could remember... gaining a nostalgic hint as she had many times escaped Cole’s eye to walk the length to her mother’s grave... wishing to find the comfort the one that should be her home and shelter could no longer grant once alone.
The melody of the wind playing the leaves caressed her heart with the lull... and once she saw the first little mountain of small rocks, she smiled. Following the path it conveyed with its presence and continuing to guide herself with the few others she was to find as they were the ones indicating that the mourning woods had been entered.
Nature, that of small animals as well as birds could be now heard with a solemn essence. The surroundings to the core of the woods were also habited by foxes and other small hunters, hence, she respectfully entered; showing herself unharmful to the peace of the woods that, the further she moved into, attained darker shade as the leaves of the trees had died, accordingly to the residents it guarded. Fading and allowing loneny dirt to darken further the colours her eyes met, as no more trees protected the heads from the sky’s rays, crowning in its lonely centre, a robust tree, of seemingly short branches compared to its body that was the keeper of the ones dead below it.
“... Do wait here, friend of mine...” — Jumping down the beast so she could secure it around the last tree closest to the robust one, Ewelina, softly spoke to the animal, caressing it one last time before walking towards it to admire its full size and vivid colour unlike the ground surrounding it.
As if paying her respect, she lowered her head before it in a sense of appreciation for its healthy appearance after fearing its safety because of the intruders that wanted the lands; and moving swiftly to its back, she crouched to take some of the earth off of the hidden entrance, one of the same vivid wood the tree flaunted that offered a big ring of a knob so she could enter the sacred rest of her bloodline.
Ewelina quietly opened the gate and went down the steep stairs, leaving the entrance open so the grave’s structure would allow light if done so.
‘... the scent of nature as expected feels stronger... It reminds me to Sortnafeigr now that I have been there...’ — Slightly nostalgic, the woman contemplated as she carefully went down the stairs, finally meeting the end of them along the thick layer of clear resplendent water that was the floor of the hidden graveyard.
“... As lukewarm as I recall...” — As she stepped in, the woman felt tenderness to the sensation of the water covering submerging her feet up to her shins and holding her dress, she smiled as she moved through it; towards the one statue she knew pertained to her Father and Mother’s.
On the wide enough podium they rose, she could find the seat in which she used to spend her visits... and caressing the hand of her Mother’s statue with an extended hand...
“Mother... Father... How delightful it is for this daughter to be before you again... I am to tell... that from the last time I came to you, this daughter has experienced many... many things...”
As she listened to her voice echo in the dark walls of the unique graveyard, Ewelina’s soft visage wanted to resonate with the tranquillity the fade of it provided, letting solely one tear of delight fall down her closed lids... as her greeting allowed a conversation with the dead...
“Will my story be welcomed, although your ears cannot listen and your mouth cannot comfort me as we would like...? I have missed it nonetheless... for you are the parents this life gave my soul to come back to...” — Lifting her head, the features of a sculptured Mother along with a prominent Father were watched with lovesome hues and she smiled at their poses which looked down to its visitor, welcoming as they offered their hands to be taken... — “... There is a man I left these lands for... unwillingly and fearful of the fate meeting him would lead myself to... I feared him strongly, Mother, Father... yet I opened my eyes to a past I always forget for a given time...... and I met tender love... one extraordinary and terrifyingly vast.... Yet now I suffer because of the depths of my soul’s story...”
