Beast Awakening: When Wives Go Wild-Chapter 21 "Ru Family-Ru Guan (2)"
Xuan didn’t know their identity. "From his words, he must be the son of that city lord, and they must be from the Ru family," he speculated. But instead of making his move, he waited. Their words had already cleared his doubts about Ru Feng’s whereabouts.
"She must be somewhere inside this house, but where?" he thought, waiting for them to leave. Just then, he saw one of them talking about Ru Feng.
"I’ll go check on that bitch! While you inform big brother about tonight’s plan," said the one with long grey hair.
Xuan now had a clear path, so he decided to follow the man from behind. Luckily, the man’s cultivation wasn’t high; he was an expert in the early Foundation Establishment realm, not much of a threat to Xuan.
He began to follow him, but to keep other prying eyes from noticing him, Xuan took his time, stepping only once at a time. The man went to a slightly different location than the main house, where the surveillance was even tighter than at the main house or the gates. There were dozens of Foundation Establishment experts guarding the place.
When they saw Ru Guan approaching, they let him pass, knowing he was an aide to the City Lord and Ru Feng’s uncle. Once Xuan saw the gap, he slipped inside as well, entering a serene small courtyard.
"Did you feel something strange?" the man guarding the courtyard asked, but the other man dismissed him. "Stop daydreaming. Without our permission, even a bug can’t crawl inside."
The man who had asked didn’t speak further, thinking he must have been reacting oddly.
As Xuan got inside, this time even Ru Guan couldn’t help but turn when he felt a gust of wind following him. Sensing Guan Fu turning back, Xuan followed his blind spot and went past him. By the time Guan Fu turned back and found nothing, then turned toward the doors again, Xuan was already at the spot where he could see Ru Feng.
She was cultivating. This was a scene he wasn’t expecting; Ru Feng didn’t look like she was having a hard time. Her cultivation, which was at the peak of Qi Awakening, had now increased by one level. "First stage of the Spirit Vein realm," Xuan muttered.
Once inside, Ru Guan’s demeanour changed. "Feng’er, today is the day. Do you really think the person you were talking about will come?"
Xuan was stunned. ’Is he pretending earlier?’ He clearly remembered Ru Guan cursing Ru Feng in front of the other Ru family members, but here he was, talking with her like he cared.
"Second Uncle! I have faith in my love. They’ll come, and when that happens, it will bring destruction to this whole city," she answered, opening her eyes.
Ru Guan didn’t know if he should believe her words or just think this was her last hope. But when he heard her talking about the destruction of the city, he felt it was exaggerated.
"I don’t doubt my child, but..." Suddenly, he sensed someone behind him. He turned only to see a gust of wind pass him, the same as the one he felt earlier. But when he turned toward Ru Feng, he saw a man hugging her.
Ru Feng, on the other hand, had a bewildered expression. She had faith, more like her instincts had been screaming at her that Xuan would come, but she wasn’t expecting him to appear like this. Tears began to flow from her eyes, and she sobbed, calling out to him, "Husband!"
Ru Guan also had an astonished look on his face. He could now feel Xuan’s aura, which he couldn’t before, even when Xuan’s realm was lower than his. Seeing Ru Feng call him husband, he was sure that the young man was the one his niece had told him about, but he just couldn’t fathom how he had slipped past such surveillance without being detected by dozens of Foundation Realm experts.
"I have come to take you back. How could you leave us in the middle of our journey?" Xuan spoke. His words were more of a reprimand, but a hidden meaning lay between them that only Ru Feng could understand.
She wanted to speak, but he didn’t let her. He held her close to his chest. "You’ll have to make up for this."
She hummed, and Xuan felt closer to her than before. When he first met her, he fell for her beauty. Even when they claimed to be his wives, he was skeptical about many things, but now that she had been gone for a moment, he realized that even if his past were fake, he would make them his wives in the present. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Ru Guan, observing from behind, finally spoke. He cleared his throat. "Sorry to interrupt the lovebirds of the younger generation, but isn’t it inappropriate to show such affection in front of a family elder?"
Ru Feng realized this, and her face turned red. She couldn’t speak, not even utter a word.
Then Xuan turned toward him, giving Ru Guan the respect he deserved. "Thank you for being on her side. I will never forget this favor in my life."
Ru Guan laughed. "A favor! This is something I should have done as the elder of the family."
"Alas, my power and authority are limited, and with things not in our favor, I had to pretend to be on their side while looking after her in secrecy."
Xuan nodded. "I saw that interaction of yours at the manor gate." He smirked, making Ru Guan embarrassed. "I hope you won’t take it to heart, but..."
Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room became serious. "How will you get past the surveillance? The whole Ru family, except my daughter, wife, and me, is on their side."
Xuan pondered. "We’ll see. If words don’t work, then only blood will flow."
Ru Feng wasn’t surprised; she knew that if things didn’t end well, many would suffer. Although she knew the limitations of her and Xuan’s power, something in her heart told her that this would end with heavy destruction.
Ru Guan had a dreadful expression. Even though he knew that Xuan’s cultivation was low, the words flowing from his mouth felt more like a declaration.
