Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 339: Banquet[Lion tribe 3]
Loud Drums rivaled the excited roars of the audience. The tribesmen were ready. They wanted to see if their chosen prince was really worthy of the throne. The Challengers circled their opponent with deliberate and menacing steps. Noah on the other hand, stood still while he let them test him. He wanted them to see who they were facing because he wouldn’t make this fight easy. Just as they were testing their king, Noah, too, was studying his subjects. He wanted to see what position they could hold in his court and what contribution they could offer his tribe. All of this will be determined through this fight.
Two of the challenges attacked him immediately, and Noah instinctively blocked them. His deadly claws were enough to send them flying and plummeting down the dirt. Even a trio of three-marked beastmen couldn’t touch him. The difference in marking was clear here. But that soon blurred when Alan faced him.
The two of them met each other in a fierce dance of Blood and Fight. The lions roared to show off their prowess before sinking their claws into the opponents’ flesh.
"He has improved," Victor remarked, chuckling, while Demir agreed. Noah had indeed improved with his constant training.
"Unlike someone," Victor once again remarked while he glanced at Lucas, making the latter glare at him.
Lucas couldn’t help but counter at him, "I have improved too" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Sure," Victor said sarcastically as he returned his attention to the ongoing duel. Blake smiled seeing them banter, and it was kind of true that Noah was good at fighting and overall at being disciplined. Lucas was far too young and way too privileged as the prince of the Silver Wolf tribe. He was born arrogant and fun-loving. Although he participated in daily training with Noah, the former was more interested in spending time with the cubs.
It was funny that the Lion cubs likewise enjoyed playing around with Lucas rather than with Noah, their own father. It was understandable, Noah could never abandon his dignity to roll around in mud with those little things.
’Noah!’ Lyra stopped herself from shouting when she saw her mate get his side torn off. The crimson blood flowing down his torso made her heart ache. She wanted to cry and stop the fight from going any further and take her mate away. However, she knew that it was not her place to do that. Nor was it anyone else’s place to stop him from doing his duty. Lyra only wished her mother-in-law were here with them while she watched this heart-wrenching match. The latter was good at calming her down and guiding her towards her responsibilities.
Alas, that wasn’t possible because a Dowager Queen wasn’t allowed to attend any kind of ceremony while she was still mourning the late king’s death. Lyra thought it was sad that a mother wasn’t allowed to watch her own son’s crowning, but there was nothing she could do when the Dowager Queen herself chose to remain inside the castle. She was rule-abiding and somewhat hesitant about accidentally hurting her son’s reputation. The older tribesmen were that rigid in their old ways and wouldn’t change so easily. So as a mother, she wanted her Son to have all the support.
Lyra prayed that her mate would remain unharmed and win. It was her selfish side speaking. She watched with bated breath as the fight continued while Noah once again pounced on Alan and sank his fangs on the side of his neck.
Alan struggled in the hold trying to get away. Having an opponent’s fangs on his neck could turn out to be fatal. But the more he struggled, the more it allowed Noah to gain access to his challenger’s weak point, the throat. Once, he had his fangs there, the fight was done. He restrained himself from giving Alan a fatal bite, and the latter understood it.
Alan succumbed to the ground, attaining a submissive posture, showing that he was acknowledging his loss. Noah stepped back as soon as he did that. There was no point in continuing the fight when the opponent was unwilling and accepted that he had lost.
He turned to the crowd and roared to show that he was the one who was standing. And he would be their King. The witch masters hurried inside the arena to tend to their King. The apprentices went to the fallen opponents while the Royal witch masters tended to Noah. They cleaned his wound and applied herbal paste to stop the bleeding.
"You should remain in your beast form until you recover, Your majesty" One of the Witch masters suggested. Staying in one’s Beastform allows quicker recovery and less chance of developing an infection. Noah gave a curt nod and walked towards the Plaza.
He saw his mate rushing to him and felt warm. He wanted to shift and hug his mate. Tell her that he was alright and soothe her worries, but he couldn’t, not if he wanted to recover enough so that he could attend the crowning ceremony the next morning. Instead, as soon as she reached him, he nudged at her as she ran her fingers through his mane.
"You need to rest" Lyra murmured as she ushered him inside the castle while the banquet continued. The attendees ate a specially prepared feast and celebrated the victory of their prince. After the late king’s death, this was their chance at a new start and recovery.
Lyra’s mates followed her into the castle with the cubs behind them. Noah was once again tended by the Royal Witch master before he was said to rest. As soon as he closed his eyes, tiredness hit him and he slipped into deep sleep. Meanwhile, his mate changed into something comfortable before lying next to him. She made sure to cover him with a blanket and thanked Demir for lighting the fireplace before closing her eyes. She wanted to be with Noah today.
Demir smiled as his mate slept. There was a tense look on her face, probably due to Noah’s injuries. He stepped towards her, kissed her forehead, and eased the frown between her brows before exiting the room. Tomorrow would be a big day. Not only will Noah get crowned and recognized as the sovereign of the Lion tribe and one of the Kings of Beast City, but there will also be other Beast Kings in attendance.
That made him think about Xavier. Surely he will attend tomorrow’s ceremony. At least for diplomacy, the fox tribe will push him to attend. Though Demir thought that he wouldn’t need any push to come here. Xavier will come here to see his sunshine. He will not miss this opportunity. Demir just wished he wouldn’t cause any problems if he decided to attend. Their mate didn’t seem to like Xavier. With that as the case, the Fox king had no place in their lives.
