Became a Demon with Pregnancy System-Chapter 41: If You Can’t Eat It, Feed It
In the spirit of demons, there often lingers a wisp of a remnant soul.
The remnants of pure spirits barely struggle when devoured, but resentful spirits are a different story, brimming with aggression and hostility.
Luke had never dared to devour a resentful soul before. He was keenly aware that his powerful demon physique and bloodline—inheritances from the Lone Star Wolf—would evolve to emperor-level in time. However, his soul, still human in origin, remained his sole weakness.
He knew his soul wasn’t strong. In fact, it had been a miracle that he managed to reach the commander level in the past six months. Thus, Luke had always avoided the risk of devouring resentful souls, fearing it would end in his demise.
But now, with Marissa Jones lying on the brink of death, Luke decided it was worth the gamble.
Luke reached into the Cursed Pool, extracting a glowing purple spirit. Encased within was the resentful soul of the Volcanic Poison Wolf, a shadowy wolf-like figure snarling and thrashing in the swirling mist.
He glanced at Marissa’s limp form. Her skin was nearly entirely consumed by the creeping purple poison. Time was running out.
"If I make it through this, you owe me seven or eight kids, at least!" Luke muttered under his breath, steeling his resolve.
Without hesitation, he swallowed the spirit in one gulp.
The moment the resentful soul entered Luke’s body, an unbearable pain exploded in his head. His vision blurred, his body trembled, and sweat poured down his face as the invasive soul clashed violently with his own.
"Luke!" Tanya Reed and Zoe Miller cried out simultaneously, alarmed by his convulsions.
They watched in horror as Luke’s body began to twitch and writhe uncontrollably. The thought of a soul battle had always terrified them. If Luke’s soul failed to overpower the resentful spirit, he would become an empty husk, a walking corpse.
"Come on, Luke! You can do this!" Tanya clenched her fists, her voice trembling with determination.
But Luke couldn’t hear them. He was entirely consumed by the battle raging in his spiritual world.
Inside his spiritual domain, Luke’s soul had taken the form of a majestic four-winged Lone Star Wolf. Across from him stood the shadowy figure of the Volcanic Poison Wolf, its eyes glowing with pure malice.
The fight was relentless. Though Luke’s soul initially struggled to fend off the powerful attacks of the resentful spirit, he felt himself gradually gaining strength.
"What’s happening?" Luke wondered as his soul grew more powerful with every clash.
Behind him, the four magic galaxies in his spiritual world shimmered brilliantly, continuously feeding him energy.
"Of course," Luke realized. "Normal demons don’t have magic galaxies—they rely solely on brute strength in battles of the soul. But I can draw power from my stars endlessly!"
He grinned. "What kind of creature is the Lone Star Wolf? Every ability it grants is outrageously overpowered."
The Volcanic Poison Wolf let out one last defiant roar before it disintegrated into smoke and ash, its remnants dissipating into Luke’s spiritual domain.
In the physical world, Luke let out a long breath and collapsed to his knees, drenched in sweat. His soul, once at the entry-level Commander rank, had now ascended to the peak of the Minor Commander level—a mere step away from the next stage.
The process had been grueling, but the reward was substantial.
"I must have inherited some traits from the Volcanic Poison Wolf," Luke muttered, summoning a drop of his blood. It shimmered with a faint purple hue, tinged with the poisonous essence of his recent prey.
"Zoe, see if you can use this to make the antidote," Luke said, his voice hoarse.
Zoe nodded, her hands trembling as she carefully mixed the blood into her prepared concoction. The emerald-green liquid turned a deep purple-black, its color both ominous and promising.
"It worked!" Zoe exclaimed, her voice filled with hope. "This might not completely cure her, but it’ll save her life." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Luke eyed the strange concoction warily. "Are you sure this... thing will help? It looks like dark sludge."
"Luke, stop stalling," Zoe snapped. "My stardust is almost depleted! Hurry and give her the antidote!"
"How am I supposed to—" Luke began but stopped as Tanya interjected, her tone laced with exasperation.
"Feed it to her, of course. She’s unconscious; she can’t drink it on her own."
Luke blinked. "Feed it... how?"
Tanya smacked her forehead. "Don’t act so innocent. Use your mouth!"
Luke’s eyes lit up in sudden understanding. "Oh! Got it."
Without further ado, Luke downed the liquid himself before leaning over Marissa’s unconscious form. Her tattered clothes barely clung to her poisoned body, revealing the intricate lines of her figure, which was both delicate and alluring despite the dire situation.
Luke’s gaze lingered a moment too long before he refocused. "Focus, man. This isn’t the time."
He pressed his lips to hers, transferring the antidote with deliberate care. His technique was unpracticed, but he made sure not a single drop was wasted, swirling the liquid to ensure it flowed smoothly down her throat.
Nearby, Tanya and Zoe exchanged glances, their expressions shifting between exasperation and embarrassment.
"Zoe, I think our presence is no longer needed," Tanya said with a sigh.
Zoe nodded. "Yeah, let’s give them some privacy."
Without another word, the two women stepped out of the cave, leaving Luke to his task.
A minute later, Luke looked at Marissa Jones’ flushed cheeks with satisfaction.
Not a single drop of liquid had been wasted.
Luke couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. It seemed he was naturally talented at feeding someone medicine—or at least that’s what he told himself.
"Hmm..."
Luke suddenly heard a soft murmur and immediately focused on Marissa. Her eyelids fluttered slightly, and she was now looking at him.
"She’s awake? Zoe’s medical skills really are impressive," Luke muttered, genuinely impressed. He recalled that Zoe Miller had some serious aptitude for healing magic, akin to what he had read about other famous medics.
But something felt... off.
