Chapter 26: [Frog] - The Prophet's Part

Frank looked at the poor door and said sorrowfully, "Do you know how much money we spend on fixing doors? Power isn't meant to be wasted like this!"

Drake sneered. "It's just a door. And besides, what were you saying earlier? Don't try to change the subject."

Frank sighed. "I'm not denying your position, but you know we need Silvanus. Don't you want to learn more about the Prophet?"

Drake fell silent.

Silas, who had been standing to the side, suddenly spoke. "It's been two days, and Silvanus still hasn't appeared. I want to go to the place where you first met him."

Frank nodded. "Go ahead, but I wouldn't get my hopes up."

Drake raised his voice. "I'm coming too!"

With that, the two of them set off for the place where Frank and Silvanus had first met. Silas maintained his usual calm, emotionless expression while Drake kept his brows furrowed and his eyes sharp—a typical look.

"I've always wondered how you manage to see where you're going. Aren't your eyes closed?" Drake suddenly asked with a smirk.

Of course, he didn't want an answer—he was picking a fight.

Silas said nothing. Drake let out a cold chuckle, his expression growing even more annoyed.

At that moment, the one all of humanity had been searching for was waking from his slumber.

Silvanus blinked as he adjusted to the gentle golden light surrounding him.

The moment he regained consciousness, his body slowly descended to the ground.

[What just happened?] Silvanus frowned, questioning the system while pulling up his interface.

In his mind, he had only closed his eyes for a brief nap. But his expression froze as soon as he saw that his system space could only be maintained for another two days and that he had just 100 Faith Points left.

He had been asleep for two days and was down to only 100 Faith Points!

[What the hell is going on?!] This time, Silvanus practically spat out each word through gritted teeth.

The acting system finally appeared—slowly—represented by three dots...

[Don't play dumb!] Silvanus snapped coldly.

Sensing his anger, the system quickly responded: [This was an automatic system upgrade, triggered upon detecting deficiencies in the host. You can only level up by obtaining Faith Points...]

Silvanus took a deep breath, enduring the feeling of going from a billionaire to a pauper. Sure, he still had 100 Faith Points, which translated to 100,000 Acting Points. But Faith Points were rare, and he had no idea what awaited him in the next dungeon. It was best to conserve them.

Instead, he decided to test his body after the upgrade.

Sensing his thoughts, the system quickly suggested: [You can test your speed and reflexes—your body is entirely different from before!]

Silvanus said nothing and opened a portal to the continent.

After some testing, he realized his speed had indeed increased. He could hear sounds from far away, see at greater distances, and even pick up hidden scents with his enhanced sense of smell.

You have become an entirely different person—no longer just an ordinary Silvanus in a dangerous continent like before!

The system chimed in again: [Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the Acting Space has expanded. You can now use it to teleport across greater distances.]

[Say any more, and I might start feeling invincible.] Silvanus scoffed.

[You will become invincible soon enough,] the system declared with absolute certainty.

Silvanus fell silent. He couldn't help but feel that the acting system was even more fanatical about him than his believers. Remembering Drake's dog-with-a-bone expression, Silvanus thought that if he ever saw the Prophet again, he might cut him in half on the spot!

Silvanus sighed inwardly, then suddenly came to a halt. Drake's bored voice rang out: "Finally found you. Where the hell have you been hiding all this time?!"

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear. Silvanus cursed his bad luck.

He turned around, his hood concealing any expression that might give him away.

For the first time, Silas "looked" at Silvanus seriously. Only now did his brows knit together slightly—he couldn't see anything from Silvanus, and his eyes even throbbed in pain!

Silas lowered his head slightly and softly said, "Priest Silvanus, we have been waiting for your appearance. Apologies for doubting you before. I hope we can invite you to our headquarters for another discussion."

Silvanus said nothing.

At that moment, Drake's unusually stiff voice broke the silence. "Apologies for pointing a blade at you when we first met."

Silvanus raised an eyebrow as he watched Drake bow before him. Unbelievable—Drake apologizing to someone?

He gave a slight nod and said, "Let's go."

Before long, they arrived at the headquarters of The Association of Espers. When Frank saw Silvanus, his eyes lit up, and he began speaking excitedly, "It's truly an honor to welcome you, Silvanus!"

Silvanus sat in his chair, removed his hood, and said, "If there's something to discuss, let's get straight to it." A busy and enigmatic priest—that was the image he always aimed for.

Frank quickly continued, "First, we apologize for not believing in you earlier. The Association has already commissioned the construction of a new church dedicated to you, making it easier for you to spread the faith and bring the dazzling light of the gods to all of humanity!"

Silvanus raised an eyebrow slightly, deep in thought. This would help solidify his identity as a priest among humans, earning him many Acting Points. Moreover, it would reinforce the image of the gods in people's minds.

He nodded and said, "The sincerity of humanity moves even the distant gods. They will surely watch over this continent."

Drake, however, felt that Silvanus was lying through his teeth. He couldn't even imagine what a "moved Prophet" would look like—especially after seeing the Prophet's final gaze—a mysterious yet emotionless stare, like that of a traveler long numbed by endless time.

On the other hand, Frank beamed with satisfaction and said, "In that case, could you explain more about the Prophet? We will record a video and spread the Prophet's teachings to all believers across the continent, ensuring that his light reaches every corner!"

Drake nodded in approval while Silvanus finally felt that these people were genuinely beginning to believe in his vision of letting the gods' light shine everywhere.

He smoothly delivered the lines he had prepared in advance: "As I have said before because humanity faces immense peril, the gods have broken their shackles to return to this world. However, their power is not yet whole."

Pausing for a moment, Silvanus let out a derisive chuckle. "If they were not bound, how could monsters run rampant in this world? But there is no need to worry—those shackles will gradually be broken. As long as humanity learns to save itself, the gods will not abandon this continent."

His words were clear: even with gods, humanity must continue to fight. If the gods sensed apathy, they might abandon this world to its fate.

Harsh as it sounded, the gods honestly had no hearts.

Everyone fell into their thoughts.

Just then, the floor trembled, and a deafening thunderclap echoed through the air. The once-sunny sky darkened ominously as if a torrential storm was about to descend—especially over the southwestern region of the capital.

Everyone instinctively turned to look outside. In the southwestern sky, a vortex of darkness appeared, surrounded by countless streaks of lightning.

A blood-red message materialized against the stormy sky as if fresh blood was about to drip onto the earth:
