Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 298: Love Hell - Dorian’s Part (3)
Finn looked like he was on the verge of a complete breakdown—or more accurately, showing the first signs of contamination. At this point, Mr. and Mrs. Andersen didn’t mention that woman and the black cat anymore, yet Finn stubbornly insisted that he had truly seen them.
Nyx couldn’t help but glance toward the door, but just then, Hermes’s cold voice suddenly cut through the air: "Don’t look."
Nyx jolted in surprise, and the others who had been trying to sneak a look instinctively pulled their gazes back as well.
[Haha, the power of a gentle man.]
[Hermes, gentle? You’ve got to be kidding.]
[Anyway, Finn’s done for.]
[Farewell, my nameless friend.]
[Sounds bad...]
Hermes looked at Finn and spoke sincerely, "Don’t mention this again, Finn. You should keep it to yourself—you’re being contaminated."
Finn opened his mouth as if to argue, but he didn’t dare say a word when his eyes met the cold, obsidian-like gaze behind Hermes’s glasses.
"Everyone, truly, thank you so much. If it weren’t for you, we might not have been able to finish our wedding photos so smoothly."
At that moment, Mr. Andersen suddenly stepped forward, his expression sincere. His gaze shifted toward Hermes as he continued, "If possible, would I have the honor of inviting you detectives to our home? Of course, the payment will be increased—so long as you can completely resolve our troubles."
Hermes nodded seriously. "That is my duty, Mr. Andersen."
Mr. Andersen nodded in satisfaction. Before long, several carriages arrived—Mr. And Mrs. Andersen boarded their own, while Hermes and his team took another.
After they got into the carriage, the coachman turned his head back toward them before setting off. His jet-black eyes reflected no light as he warned, "You’d better not look outside."
Fiona frowned in suspicion. "Why? Is there something out there?"
The coachman’s voice was low and calm. "Dark spirits can follow people home, so be careful."
By now, the curtain had been drawn down, and the coachman clearly didn’t want to say more.
The group exchanged glances. Fiona rubbed her hands together eagerly. "Want to try?"
Hermes and Nyx looked expressionless at her, while Nyx only offered a beautiful, subtle smile.
Fiona tilted toward Alice. Alice immediately took her hand, concern in her eyes. "Fiona, are you alright?"
Fiona shook her head. "I just suddenly wanted to be near you. I need your gentle energy."
Alice laughed softly and ruffled Fiona’s black hair.
Fiona had just gotten a haircut—a neat layered mullet. Now, the strands of her hair stuck out like little wolf tufts.
Austin, sitting nearby, lowered his gaze and furrowed his brow at Fiona. Though his face rarely showed emotion, Fiona could sense his dislike.
She glared at Austin, then smugly buried her head into the hollow of Alice’s neck.
At that moment, Fiona’s ears twitched slightly. Her eyes widened. "Everyone... did you hear Captain Drake’s voice?"
Alice furrowed her brow, and Liam shook his head. "I don’t hear anything."
Suddenly, Finn, on the other side, collapsed to the floor, panic flashing across his face as he crawled toward the curtain.
Fiona frowned and moved to pull him up—but Finn’s body jerked violently backward, the impact shaking the carriage slightly.
He fell inside the carriage, groaning in pain. Thin, elusive threads—slender and wavering—drifted away from him. Austin stepped forward, his massive frame pinning Finn down so he couldn’t struggle.
"What’s wrong with him?" Fiona rolled up her sleeves and approached Finn, concern in her eyes.
She could only see Finn parting his lips, repeatedly mentioning a cat. Gradually, the syllables he uttered began to shift, twisting in strange and unsettling ways.
Fiona squinted slightly and said, "Could it be that he’s going to turn into a cat?" She paused, as if lost in thought. "At least then he’d be cute."
[...]
[As expected of Fiona, Captain Drake’s teammate.]
[A cat’s a cat, but whether it’s cute or not, that remains to be seen.]
[I suddenly miss Nerio so much, everyone... why didn’t he appear like last time, my precious...]
[No spotlight for the three gods? I really like all of them.]
[So greedy.]
Fiona’s words sounded gentle, but Finn’s condition was severe.
His actual state wasn’t bad, yet he had been contaminated to this extent despite having been in the dungeon for less than a morning. It was as if the strongest layer of defense had been completely shattered. Now, Finn was a defenseless entity, easily vulnerable to outside invasions.
Alice said softly, "I can try a little."
She raised her hand, a gentle light emanating from her palm. Since her previous evolution, her abilities no longer only healed external wounds.
Even with the naked eye, Finn seemed to calm down considerably.
He looked at the others in bewilderment. After a long pause, he croaked dryly, "I’m going to die, aren’t I?"
Hermes rubbed his fingers together and said, "No one knows. For now, describe that woman’s appearance and the black cat while you’re still alive."
Finn trembled slightly, pressing his lips together.
[So heartless.]
[Oh my god, that line—if it were me, I’d punch Hermes right in the face!]
[Even someone that handsome would get hit?]
[I really hate handsome people.]
[Okay.]
[I’m the only one who loves Hermes; I volunteer to sacrifice myself!]
At this point, Finn began describing the woman holding the black cat.
Fiona looked thoughtful. "She’s always staring at Mr. and Mrs. Andersen... why? Does she want a wedding too?"
"Finn, why don’t you just marry her already? After all, you’re going to die anyway."
Finn slumped miserably. Not everyone can accept death easily. He was here, facing mortality, yet Fiona’s teasing persisted, which was truly irritating.
Alice lightly tugged on Fiona’s hand. Fiona squinted at Finn, then suddenly straightened up, waving her hand as if nothing had happened.
"Everyone, what do you think the relationship between this girl and the Andersens is?" Liam asked softly. "It feels... like a betrayed love story or something."
"You mean Mr. Andersen promised this girl something and betrayed her feelings because her face changed? We could even assume she once had a beautiful face!" Fiona’s eyes gleamed with excitement as she speculated. "Or maybe Mrs. Andersen pretended to be interested in her to date her—pledging eternal devotion—but ended up marrying Mr. Andersen, which made the woman holding the black cat angry, so she returned to haunt and seek revenge!"
Either scenario was thrilling.
[Fiona, she should be the scriptwriter for another server of this show!]
[I quite like the second plot. I like women, and what’s better than watching two women fall in love!]
Even Nyx was struggling to maintain her smile.
Alice gently tugged Fiona’s hand and said softly, "Fiona, let’s slow down a bit."
