Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 354: Summoning Lumin
Silvanus couldn’t help being a little startled. The moment he turned his head, he saw a child floating behind him—a beautifully adorable girl who looked so much like a cat that one might really mistake her for a feline who had simply taken human form.
However, the clothing she wore made it clear her identity was anything but simple. This little girl was an Elder.
Nicole smiled brightly at Silvanus. "Hello, I’m Nicole. I have a close relationship with Nana. Last time, Nana begged me to come to Crucible Hall in time to stop everything—she was afraid you’d die, you know. She acts all cold now, but isn’t she adorable?"
Silvanus had no idea which part of that was supposed to be adorable, but he was still a bit surprised. He turned to Nana, nodded, and said, "Thank you."
Right now, Nana was furious. Her whole face had turned red, and her fists were clenched tight. If the one saying this hadn’t been Nicole but anyone else, she definitely would have cut their tongue out.
"Don’t listen to her nonsense! I only wanted you to die by my hand," Nana roared, frowning at Silvanus.
Silvanus: "... alright. Now move aside, I need to get back to class."
Nana frowned and was about to say something, but Nicole waved her hand. "No need to return to class. I’ll be your instructor for this period—we’re having an outdoor lesson. Let’s go."
With a sweep of her hand, Nicole flew off ahead.
Hearing that, Silvanus had nothing more to say.
Within Lumina, there was a vast open field—an area for students to hold outdoor activities, relax, study, or use for matches during mandatory examinations.
Naturally, there were no desks here, and students wouldn’t be sitting still in one place.
Silvanus lowered his gaze to the tiny head of Vivian and said softly, "See? You really should’ve stayed home."
Vivian let out a small sob and couldn’t say anything in return.
"Silvanus, you’re here? We went back to class to look for you!" Ariana’s lively voice called out from afar.
Silvanus turned around and indeed saw Matthew and Ariana walking side by side toward him.
Silvanus nodded. "I ran into Elder Nicole, so I came straight here."
Matthew looked at Silvanus, then at the little fox in his arms, frowned slightly, and asked cautiously, "Silvanus, you’re not planning to set Vivian down somewhere?"
Silvanus shook his head. "She’s too small. I’m afraid someone might accidentally step on her."
Just look at Vivian’s tiny size—if anyone stepped on her, she’d definitely be flattened!
"Hahaha, looks like you were right—Silvanus really won’t put that stupid fox down. Don’t worry, all you need to do is grow stronger. Once you do, you won’t need Silvanus’s pity anymore."
That strange voice simmered inside Matthew’s mind. He replied coldly, "Shut up."
By now, all the students had arrived. Elder Nicole hovered above them, her voice clear as it reached every ear present.
"Today’s lesson will help you summon your companion Lumin. You’ve probably heard of Lumin before. Those glowing points that followed you during the exam—those were the headmaster’s Lumin..."
So Lumin referred to beings of powerful light, taking the form of beasts or ordinary animals but appearing unusually large or distinct.
Some people went their entire lives without ever summoning a Lumin; others succeeded on their first try.
Having a Lumin was like gaining a firm companion on the battlefield.
Even better, Lumin did not drain the summoner’s Flux. Because of that, anyone capable of summoning a Lumin was recognized as a promising Mage of the future.
"Now then, I’ll demonstrate once." Nicole smiled. "The incantation itself is very simple. The only question is whether a Lumin chooses you or not."
As she spoke, the little girl lifted her hand, ancient sounds flowing from her mouth. A bright golden light wrapped around her. Threads of radiance separated, swirling to form a large magic circle.
In the next instant, the circle shifted into a deep blue. Before anyone could react, a massive claw stepped out from the magic circle.
Moments later, the entire circle burst open and expanded.
A Lumin appeared!
It resembled an enormous cat more than four meters tall—its body a mysterious blend of dark blue and black, wrapped in faint, drifting lights that constantly rippled along its form.
Its eyes were shut. Tufts of fur pointed backward from the tips of its sharp ears. Its claws weren’t retracted but extended outward—massive, unnaturally long, as if embedded into its own flesh, gleaming with a cold, razor-like luster.
It opened its jaws and let out a booming cry, the rushing wind from it making everyone stagger.
Nicole laughed and sat atop the Lumin’s head. A natural gale circled the creature like eternal energy, tugging at her cloak and loose strands of hair.
"The spell is the simplest kind. What matters is whether you’re chosen. Lumin grow with your strength—or, even if they remain small forever, they can still be used in their own unique ways."
At this moment, every student couldn’t help feeling a little nervous.
Although they knew that failing this time meant they could try again later, the truth was that if one couldn’t summon a Lumin on the first attempt, the chances of succeeding afterward were minimal...
"Silvanus..."
Matthew had just intended to call out to Silvanus when he saw that Silvanus had already begun chanting.
He gritted his teeth and had no choice but to start chanting as well, though his eyes remained fixed on Silvanus.
At that moment, without warning, light and wind surged from somewhere, and the crowd suddenly erupted in loud exclamations.
Matthew’s eyes widened. This reaction—without a doubt—it had to be Silvanus.
Silvanus... what did you summon...?
Matthew stared at him, eyes stretched wide, but Silvanus suddenly turned around. His expression looked somewhat surprised, and then—Silvanus beamed, even clapping his hands.
His golden hair fluttered in the wind, and his eyes were full of nothing but joy.
Matthew blinked, dazed. He swallowed hard, his mind snapping back into his body. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Only then did he finally see the creature floating before him. It resembled a lion, except its legs and tail were soft and billowy like clouds. A sharp horn protruded from its head. Although it was only slightly larger than Vivian, the radiance it emitted made it clear that it was no ordinary being.
Matthew stared blankly at the creature hovering in front of him, mouth half-open, unable to find words.
Ariana, beside him, was even more excited than he was—but before she could say anything, Matthew stepped forward and called out loudly:
"Silvanus, look! Silvanus—this is my Lumin!"
I have one... and you don’t, Silvanus...
For the first time in his life...
Matthew just hoped he wasn’t smiling too hideously.
