Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 405: Turbulent Seas (12)
Merfolk, powerful beings that dominate the seas, even ancient sharks like the Meg would be taken down by nothing more than a single sweep of a Merfolk’s tail. In terms of the innate strength of the races, Merfolk rank third, surpassed only by Demons and Dragons.
They are warriors by nature, born of the ocean. Their scales serve as armor, their claws as weapons, and their immense physical strength forms the foundation of their bloodlust and belligerence.
At this moment, the queen’s claws had pierced through the chest of Aurellan’s Blade. The power was torn apart, forming a small storm that enveloped them both. One could see sparks constantly flashing from the point where the two collided.
Nicole bit her lip, struggling to hold on as fresh blood streamed from her eyes and nose.
Just then, a piercing scream suddenly rang out from afar.
The queen lashed out with her tail, yet she still could not escape her fate, two blades of light were driven straight into it. Nana was smashed flat against the ground by the queen’s swing, dissolving into sea foam.
The queen lifted her gaze and, at the same time, saw countless other figures of Nana smiling atop Caesar’s back. In no time at all, their numbers had grown enough to surround her completely.
These illusions would vanish easily if attacked, yet the attacks they unleashed were entirely real.
As long as they were not touched, they would possess an entire army of equal strength. That was the terror of Athena’s ability. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Only to see the Nanas raise their swords in unison. From the tips of their blades burst forth dazzling light, like bolts of energy lightning. They leapt into the air together, converging into a single mass. All that could be heard was the boiling roar and mournful wail of the sea.
Immediately after, a colossal energy sphere came crashing down from above with unimaginable force.
The queen screeched and directly flung Aurellan’s Blade aside. Aurellan’s Blade hit the ground and instantly shattered into countless fragments, disappearing from sight.
Nicole was also sent rolling away. Even though she had tried to withstand it, two holes still appeared in her chest where the queen’s claws had pierced through. Blood poured out as Nicole clutched her chest and spat out two mouthfuls of blood.
At that very moment, the fabric on her back was suddenly seized in a bite. It was Caesar. It threw her onto its back and swiftly retreated from the center of the battlefield.
On the other side, the colossal energy sphere had drawn closer than ever. After hurling Nicole away, the queen crossed her arms, her claws merging together like twin blades.
She closed her eyes. Silver-white energy, like moonlight, lit up her face and extended along her mask, in perfect harmony with her ever-glowing hair.
Energy surged up her arms at an inconceivable speed, and in the very next instant, she slashed. At first, there were only two disturbed trails of water.
However, almost immediately after, two crescent-shaped slashes appeared, rapidly growing larger as they cleaved straight through the colossal energy sphere.
"Boom!"
The two sides collided, and the explosion instantly swallowed everything. The other Nanas almost immediately dissipated under the spreading shockwaves, leaving only a single figure blasted away.
Nana could only watch as her magic barrier gradually cracked apart.
She forced down the surging pressure in her chest and reached one hand behind her back. A magic circle instantly appeared behind her, and Nana’s body was engulfed by it, swiftly vanishing from the center of the battlefield.
Athena only saw a magic circle suddenly appear above them, and in the next moment, Nana fell down from it.
Athena raised an eyebrow and directly reached out, catching Nana as she fell from the sky.
Nana only felt herself landing in someone’s palm, a chill running through her. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw Athena’s smiling face mere inches away.
Becoming aware of their current position, Nana could not help but shudder. "Let go of me."
Athena chuckled. "What’s wrong? Don’t you think this scene is very romantic?"
"Get lost!" As she spoke, Nana raised her hand and swung it straight at Athena’s face.
But at that moment, Athena had already let go, and Nana’s slap was destined to strike nothing but water.
Startled by being released so suddenly, Nana quickly steadied herself, shot upward, and delivered a kick straight at Athena.
Athena bent her body to evade, smiling at Nana with narrowed eyes. "Come now, don’t be like that. Acting like this really excites me."
By this point, Nana had completely lost any trust that Athena truly had some kind of plan. She even felt that Athena’s so-called plan was nothing more than using her and Nicole to clean up the Aqualon royal family’s troubles.
As if reading Nana’s thoughts, Athena smiled. "Come on, working together without even a bit of trust between us really isn’t a good thing."
Nana let out a cold laugh. At this moment, Athena had already left Caesar’s back. She spun once in midair, her beautiful fishtail undulating gracefully.
On the other side, the explosion had gradually dissipated, leaving only the queen floating amid the chaotic waters. Her glowing hair drifted weightlessly, more beautiful and radiant than shimmer weave itself.
Yet upon that powerful, exquisite body now lay countless wounds. Her hands were smeared with blood, cracks marred her beautiful tail fin, and a large chunk of flesh was missing from one side of her torso.
Her mask was shattered by nearly half, revealing one elongated eyelid adorned with dotted pearl-like gems.
At that moment, her lashes trembled and she snapped her eyes open. Within them was a void of silver-white, flickering with light.
It was as though all sources of energy had returned to her at this instant. Her tail fin stirred slightly, and her entire body shot upward at once, light and effortless, worlds apart from Nicole’s half-dead state.
Nicole sat on Caesar’s back, frowning as she wiped away the fresh blood still seeping from the corner of her mouth. Her remaining flux was now only enough to maintain magic within the sea. As for Nana, although her previous attack had been powerful, it had not completely drained her. Its terrifying strength had come from the countless illusionary duplicates created by Athena.
Thinking of this, Nana’s gaze instinctively lifted upward. High above, Athena stood there, a striking and eye-catching splash of pink.
She was clearly far smaller than the queen, yet the relaxed smile at her lips and her commanding presence were not inferior in the slightest.
A beam of light shone down from above, gentle as it draped itself over Athena, as though even the light itself favored her performance.
She seemed to be standing upon a stage. Her tail fin swayed continuously, one hand resting against the conspicuously rising and falling curve of her chest, the other lifted high, her skin nearly glowing like the most precious jade.
She parted her lips, and in the next instant, a melodious sound rang out. It was a sound no creature could possibly imitate.
Ethereal and distant, soaring yet never piercing, it echoed throughout the entire sea.
