Nicole opened her eyes and immediately saw Nana beside her, eyes closed.

She slowly sat up, seeming a little surprised that she was still alive.

Hearing the movement, Nana fluttered her eyelids as well. She sat up and brushed Nicole's hand away.

Silvanus walked over at that moment. Nana noticed that he was still holding the little fox in his arms. Seeing its fur, she could not help frowning slightly. She stood up and said coldly, "Where did you go?"

Before Silvanus could answer, Nicole suddenly lunged forward, slinging an arm over each of their shoulders and shouting, "We survived!"

Seeing her cheerful expression, Nicole recalled how Nana had disregarded everything to save her. The discomfort in her chest only grew stronger. She directly shook Nana's hand off and turned to leave.

It was all because she was still too weak, so much so that she needed Nicole to protect her in such desperation.

Just then, her shoulder was suddenly pulled into an embrace. Nana startled and looked up, only to see Silvanus lowering his head to look at her. He placed Vivian on his shoulder, raised one hand, and seemed to be asking for a fist bump. "We worked together to save Aqualon and the mainland. We're even just first-year students. Let's celebrate a little, hero."

Nana stared at Silvanus in a daze. Before she could react, her hand had already lifted and bumped against his.

The next instant, it was as if she realized what a stupid thing she had just done.

Nana nearly exploded on the spot. She knocked Silvanus's hand aside, shoved away the arm he had draped over her shoulder with her other hand, and strode forward in irritation. Her steps looked almost like she was fleeing, sunlight illuminating her face, flushed bright red.

Silvanus laughed loudly. "Ha ha ha, are you embarrassed, Nana. You can feel embarrassed too. You accidentally fist-bumped a commoner. That's pretty humiliating, isn't it."

"Shut up!" Nana shouted from afar.

Silvanus chuckled, about to say something else, when Vivian suddenly opened her mouth and bit down on his head, her teeth grinding against him.

Silvanus could not help pulling her down and flicking her forehead lightly. "Are you a fox or a python? Don't go swallowing people."

Vivian lifted her chin, her four paws flailing in the air.

Silvanus immediately raised her high and praised her, "Our Vivian is amazing, absolutely amazing. Vivian is a superhero, the protagonist!"

Lifted by Silvanus, Vivian spread all four limbs wide, her face tilted up until it was nearly parallel with the sky. Her tail swayed nonstop, almost like it was about to turn into a giant pinwheel.

"So cute." Silvanus chuckled to himself, rubbing Vivian's fluffy tail like a madman.

After this disaster, Aqualon and the mainland were bound to meet again, but that would be a matter for those in power. For now, Silvanus simply returned to Nathan's village, enjoying a brief rest before heading back to Lumina.

The great flood came swiftly and vanished just as quickly, thanks to the help of an anonymous hero.

No one knew who he was, yet people still turned their attention to the merfolk. Many claimed they had seen shimmer weave and tail fins. With Aetherium involved as well, that person was surely from the sea.

Aside from Nana, no one knew that the hero was Silvanus. Not even Silvanus himself knew that Nana was aware of it.

In any case, the threat hanging over the entire Land of Light was finally resolved. The surface world descended into chaos as preparations began for negotiations with the merfolk, unaware that internal turmoil among the merfolk was just as severe.

Silvanus sat atop Caesar's back, returning to the Academy together with Nicole and Nana.

It had been an intensely tense turn of events. On the day the great flood arrived, Matthew had a fierce argument with the Outer God. He wanted to go to the sea, but was ultimately stopped by it. Only then did he realize that his body was no longer entirely his own. When the Outer God poured all its power into it, it could completely seize control of him, even though it had since fallen into a deep slumber after expending too much energy.

Even so, the thought alone terrified Matthew. He wanted to grow stronger, but that did not mean he wanted to disappear. He wanted to expel the Outer God from his body at any cost.

But at this moment, what mattered most was that Silvanus had finally returned.

Matthew and Ariana had been waiting outside Lumina's main gate since early on.

Of course, Ariana was not there willingly, but with Matthew present, she had no choice but to stay.

She let out a long yawn. "Matthew, you really… do you actually think they'd be back this soon?"

Matthew said nothing.

Just then, clusters of light suddenly appeared in the sky. A gust of wind rose, and a gigantic creature descended from above.

Caesar kept his eyes tightly shut. She stretched his body and let out a long roar before vanishing.

Nicole could not help laughing. "Caesar didn't even wait for me to pat his head. He was probably in a hurry to go back and rest himself, haha."

No one responded to her. Ariana happily ran toward Silvanus, but before she could reach him, Silvanus lunged forward and wrapped Matthew in a tight hug, his hands patting Matthew's back nonstop. "It feels like I've been gone for two years. I really missed you, Matthew!" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Matthew was no longer coughing from Silvanus's pats.

His fingertips curled, yet he did not dare touch Silvanus, remaining stiff as a plank while Silvanus shook him back and forth. A calm smile rested on his lips. "It's good that you came back safely, Silvanus." As he said this, however, his gaze stayed fixed on Silvanus's right ear. There was now an earring there. Clearly, before he left, there had been nothing at all, not even a piercing.

The gold earring held a pale blue gem as its pendant. Inside it, something like a strange light seemed to flow endlessly. Its color did not even match Silvanus's eyes or hair. Abrupt and unbearably ugly, it felt like a nail in Matthew's eye, a thorn in his flesh.

Silvanus was still talking. "Not safe at all. Let me tell you about it..."

He was already prepared to launch into a long description of the beauty of Eldoria and Aqualon for Matthew to hear.

Even if Matthew had not seen it with his own eyes, listening would at least ease the longing. In any case, once they became Hunters in the future, they would have even more chances to witness such scenery.

Seeing this scene, Nicole could not help laughing again. "It's nice to be young and have friends. Nana, go celebrate too."

Nana shot Nicole a sidelong glance, then looked toward Silvanus and said coldly, "Weak." With that, she turned and left.

Left behind, Ariana could not help edging up beside Silvanus, a little dissatisfied. "Silvanus, you're really treating me like I'm invisible."

Silvanus rubbed her head lightly. "Here's the gift you wanted."

As he spoke, he spread his palm. A glimmer of light appeared, and in the next instant, a seashell materialized in Silvanus's hand. The shell was translucent in nature, coated in a beautiful nacre that reflected multiple colors under the sunlight.

Ariana's eyes almost immediately lit up.

She took the shell and admired it fondly, then hugged Silvanus's arm and shook it. "It's so beautiful. Thank you, I love it, Silvanus."
