Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 417: Becoming a Hunter
In fact, establishments like this could be found all across the Land of Light. The architecture was the same, the signboards were the same, and they were always gathering places for Hunters, whether new or old, whether they had completed their missions or not.
When Silvanus and the others walked in, no one paid them much attention.
Everyone else seemed busy with their own conversations.
Silvanus swept his gaze around the place.
From the outside, it looked shabby, like a small tavern. Yet the moment one stepped inside, the space expanded dramatically. Warm amber lights shone down from above, casting a clearly cozy glow over everything.
Inside, it truly served alcohol like a real tavern. Some people sat alone, while others gathered in groups, discussing their next mission or simply clinking glasses to celebrate a victory.
Matthew and Ariana followed closely behind Silvanus, like two little tails.
Silvanus walked toward the counter. Above it was a board formed of light, with missions constantly scrolling past. They could choose missions from this board. Missions that had already been taken were grayed out, and once a mission was confirmed as completed, it would disappear entirely.
Naturally, missions also had different danger ratings: A, B, C, and D, with D being the least difficult and A being exceptionally challenging. Occasionally, there were even special S-rank missions, though they were rare. The harder the mission, the higher the reward, and the greater the danger.
Hunters who had just registered were best advised to know their limits and choose missions suited to them, rather than being greedy and ending up full of regret.
As soon as Silvanus reached the counter, someone came forward to greet him. It was a girl with bronze skin and a strikingly voluptuous figure. The fabric she wore was oddly scant. Although she had a black cloak draped over her shoulders, with even the slightest movement, glimpses of the skin beneath were easily revealed.
Ariana could not help glancing at the woman’s chest, then looked down at herself, feeling as if she had taken a critical hit.
The moment the girl saw Silvanus, she immediately smiled. Resting one hand against her cheek, she leaned forward slightly, drawing close to Silvanus’s face. Her white hair shimmered faintly with a hint of violet, swaying gently. Her fox-like eyes curved upward in a seductive smile as she looked at him. Because of her posture and movement, a deep cleavage was fully exposed. Ariana’s face flushed red. Matthew quietly frowned. Silvanus, meanwhile, noticed that the girl’s eyes carried a faint violet sheen, something truly rare.
Her tone was soft and drawn out, as if teasing. "Young man, is there some kind of problem?"
Ivy looked at the youthful appearances of Silvanus and the other two and laughed lightly. "Here to register as Hunters?"
Silvanus nodded in response. Ivy looked flirtatious, but she did not tease them any further and quickly moved on to guiding them through the process.
Registering as a Hunter was very simple. They only needed to provide their names, and immediately afterward, they would receive their Hunter identification numbers. Each number was unique and non-repeating, making it easier to manage mission assignments.
If a Hunter was confirmed dead, their number would be stripped from their name and returned to circulation, waiting for its next owner.
Ivy smiled and gave a wink. "Your number is confidential, you know, because you are responsible for every mission you accept. So if you suspect your number has been stolen, report it immediately so we can verify it."
Silvanus nodded seriously. That was it. In less than five minutes, they had become Hunters.
Silvanus thought they could stroll around the streets for a bit.
But just as he turned around, a group of tall figures blocked their path.
The one at the front seemed to be the smallest of the group, his build not particularly muscular either.
Seeing Silvanus finally look back, the man removed his mask and smiled. "Hello. I’m from the Mantis Guild. I noticed you earlier. You’re a new Hunter. Would you like to join Mantis?"
Invitations often came very directly.
In the world of Hunters, to increase the success rate of missions, small temporary teams were sometimes formed. Such groups usually had no fixed number of members and would disband after completing a mission. Betrayal or stealing achievements for oneself could sometimes occur in these teams.
Hunting Guilds were different. They were medium- or large-scale organizations, or even if they were small, they were still well organized. The useless would be eliminated, and traitors could be blacklisted, never finding another hunting Guild again.
Mantis was not particularly famous, but it was not an unknown name either, even though Silvanus did not know much about them. He declined. "I don’t have any intention of joining a hunting Guild right now. That’s a pity..."
The man smiled and nodded. "I understand. After all, newcomers haven’t gone through many hardships yet. They always think they can handle everything on their own." He said it bluntly, then continued, "If you change your mind later, you can come find me anytime."
Silvanus nodded, saying nothing.
Matthew frowned deeply, his cold gaze sweeping over the members of Mantis.
Only after they left the shop did Ariana stomp her foot in anger. "Damn it, who does he think he is? So arrogant. Silvanus, you’re way too nice."
Silvanus glanced at Ariana. "He wasn’t exactly wrong. Right now, I really do feel like I can handle everything on my own. Maybe after I go out there and get beaten up a few times, I’ll actually come back looking for a guild."
Matthew frowned. "You still have me. We’ll be a team."
Silvanus immediately nodded, then laughed. "I haven’t even thought that far ahead yet. Haven’t we always been a team?"
Matthew froze for a moment, staring at Silvanus in a daze.
At that moment, Ariana suddenly protested from the side, clearly dissatisfied. "Silvanus, you always forget about me. I’m here too, you know!"
As she spoke, she swung Silvanus’s arm back and forth.
Matthew glanced at Ariana. No clear emotion showed on his face as he lowered his gaze.
Silvanus said, "I thought you weren’t planning to take missions yet. After all, you don’t need to worry about tuition."
Ariana did not expect Silvanus to see through her thoughts so easily. She pressed her lips together. "You don’t need to worry about tuition either..."
Hearing that, Silvanus shook his head. He draped an arm over Matthew’s shoulder and pulled him closer. "But Matthew does. How could I let him shoulder that alone?"
Matthew looked at Silvanus, his eyes shimmering with moisture. Silvanus lifted his chin and teased him with a smile. "So moved you’re about to cry, huh? Or did you really think I’d leave you to pay the tuition all by yourself?"
Matthew hurriedly lowered his gaze and shook his head.
Ariana grabbed Silvanus’s hand tightly. "I won’t abandon Matthew either."
Silvanus analyzed calmly, "But the outside world really is dangerous..."
Before he could finish, Ariana cut in. "With you around, there’s nothing dangerous!"
Matthew shot Ariana a cold look. He truly did not need her butting into this. Her presence felt like nothing but trouble.
