Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 129: The Bodyguard
Even though they had been broken up for years, James hadn’t expected his heart to still pound as he rescued Arabella. His eyes were intense as he stared at his beautiful ex-girlfriend before him. If she hadn’t been pregnant, he might have wanted to give her one last chance to mend their relationship. However, given the current chaotic situation, he didn’t expect much from Arabella, who seemed to be ignoring him.
In fact, Arabella also felt her heart pounding for the first time in a long time after being treated like this by James. To overcome her nervousness, she immediately stood up straight and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Thank you, James."
"You’re pregnant! You should be more careful!"
"I didn’t mean to. Why are you so angry?"
James groaned in annoyance, stomping his foot. "I don’t want to see you hurt again."
"Is it because you still like me?"
"Don’t expect me to like you! Have you forgotten why we broke up?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Arabella crossed her arms. "Isn’t it because we couldn’t be together? You were still working as a secret agent at the time. That’s why you didn’t want to continue our relationship."
"You told me yourself that you wanted to break up first. You were more interested in Callum and Cliff."
"Yes, you’re right! I really like Callum because he’s the perfect man in my eyes. Meanwhile, Cliff never gets tired of accompanying me every night."
"But, you don’t think about the consequences if you have a relationship with them!"
"Besides, my family is very supportive of me marrying Callum, so of course I’m not against them. You can’t promise me that."
"Even before Cliff slept with you, you did it with me." James touched his ex-lover’s shoulders with both hands. "I don’t want to blame you for not understanding the meaning of love. It’s true that I didn’t care about you all that much."
Arabella couldn’t hold back the tears that continued to well up in her eyes. She let out her regret by crying, as every thought of their sweet past made her miss them so much. Now James treated her like a stranger, which was understandable, considering she had repeatedly hurt him with her scandals.
"I’m sorry, James. I really didn’t realize at the time that I only liked you."
"I will accept your apology. But we can’t be together."
"But, can I be friends with you? At least I still want to stay in touch with you."
James spontaneously gripped his ex-girlfriend’s hand tightly. "I’ll be your bodyguard from now on. I don’t want Cliff to hurt you again."
"You shouldn’t have to care about me anymore."
"I’m not working as a secret agent anymore."
Her eyes widened at this shocking news. "Weren’t you once so enthusiastic about becoming a secret agent?"
"Actually I stopped for a reason."
"Is it because of me?"
James remained silent, staring at an empty park bench. He immediately led his ex-girlfriend to sit there. He was so comfortable holding her hand that he didn’t realize his hand was still holding hers.
"James, is it true that you quit because of me? You always wanted to maintain your reputation as the best secret agent."
"Yes, I resigned because I was thinking about you too!" James snorted in annoyance, looking away. "In the end, I did what you wanted. But you betrayed me. Callum told me once. He saw you openly kissing Cliff in a hotel! From then on, I didn’t trust you anymore."
"I should have realized from the start that you truly loved me. How foolish of me to just want someone to comfort me every night. Especially since I’ve trapped Callum in embarrassing ways several times."
"Do you still have all the lingerie you bought with Callum? Seeing that news actually makes me want to get angry."
"No. I already threw it away."
A faint smile crossed his handsome face. He was actually a little pleased to hear this, as he could use this opportunity to spend time with Arabella.
"You have always been a spendthrift."
"I haven’t had any intention of wearing it since I broke up with Cliff and Callum. That’s why I threw it away."
"If you want to buy something new, I won’t stop you. I can accompany you shopping."
Although James’s words were simple, they managed to make her cheeks flush. "You don’t mind accompanying me shopping at a lingerie boutique? I’m just your ex-boyfriend, after all."
"It doesn’t matter, because it’s my job to guard you at all times."
"But, I don’t want to disturb your busy schedule now."
"Now I work as a hacker. I have a lot of free time."
"If you don’t mind, then you can’t complain if one day I ask you to accompany me shopping."
"Callum asked me to be your bodyguard. Of course, I couldn’t refuse."
"Don’t use Callum’s name as an excuse."
James flicked his shirt collar as he glanced at the vending machine. "By the way, would you like a drink?"
"I want to. But don’t choose alcoholic drinks."
"I know. Now my job is to keep your baby healthy until birth."

Meanwhile, the little family was having fun at the shopping mall after postponing their plans for so long. Callum and Edith played with their twins in the playground. They played tag, then went down the slide, and finally, spent hours playing in a bubble bath. Quite exhausted from playing with their children, they took a break on a bench, massaging their sore feet.
Callum took the initiative to squat down in front of his fiancée, gently massaging her beautiful feet. "If you were this tired, you should have just told me."
Edith shook her head slowly. "I really don’t feel tired because I haven’t played with you and the kids in a long time."
"Even though it’s the kids who always advise me to rest, I always force myself to play with them."
"But, do you actually feel tired?"
"I feel tired if I keep staying still."
Edith rolled her eyes and gently patted her fiancé’s arm. "I love seeing you smile again. I’ve missed your smile so much."
"Actually, I want to smile as much as I can before we continue investigating the accident case."
