Becoming The Villain Is My Dream-Chapter 45: A Catastrophe

It had been a while since Lucien left and during this time, Alex didn’t move because he knew that once he made any move, Lilith would be harmed and that would also affect him.

His mind went through a series of thoughts as he gazed at Jack. Not able to take it anymore, he voiced out.

"Tell me... Tell me why you are doing this," he said to him. As he spoke, he tried to get hold of himself so that he wouldn’t act rashly.

"To take my revenge on you," Jack replied.

"I never did anything to you, what makes you hate me this much?" Alex asked him.

"You are the reason Klein died. If it wasn’t to save your petty life, he wouldn’t have ended up the dead one! For this, I hate you," Jack replied, his eyes brimming with anger and hatred.

"Lucien was the reason why he died and not me... If it wasn’t for the attack that day, Klein wouldn’t have died! Stop lying to yourself and wake up—" Alex didn’t finish his sentence when Jack rushed towards him and pushed him backward until he slammed his back on the wall.

"I don’t simply care if it was because he attacked us that day or what! All I’m concerned about is that you are the reason Klein died. It was to save your ass that he died, get that into your damn skull!" Jack yelled and slammed his head on the wall before leaving him and walking away.

"Master!" Lilith yelled from where she was. She tried to transform back to her original form but the chains around her were embedded with a spell that couldn’t allow her to transform. At this, she felt utterly useless — she could only watch her Master being assaulted.

Meanwhile, Alex moved away from the wall and noticed the blood trickling down from the injured place. He glared at Jack who was smiling and then clicked his tongue in irritation. If only Lilith wasn’t in their possession, he would have settled the scores between the two of them once and for all.

"Seeing you powerless makes me happy," Jack said to him. "Guess what? I’m the one who told Lucien about her..."

"You bastard!" Alex yelled and rushed towards him then punched him in the face. "You are lucky that my hands are all tied up or I would have killed you!" He said to him.

"And that makes you a loser, don’t forget! Ha ha," Jack replied and began to laugh.

Alex clenched his fists as he silently watched Jack make fun of him — he could not help but feel the urge to kill him right away.

As Jack was laughing, Lucien finally returned and when Alex turned to see him, he saw him wiping his bloody hands with a piece of clothing. His brows squeezed into a frown as he tried to think whose blood that was.

"I’m done, you can go back to your school," Lucien said to him and dispelled the barrier surrounding Lilith. She fell to the ground and the chains around her body disappeared, she looked worn out as if all her energy has been drained out of her. Seeing this, Alex rushed to help her stand to her feet.

"Why... Why are you doing this?" Alex asked Lucien. He looked confused and angry at the same time as he stared at the young man. "What... What is the essence of bringing me here and letting me go back unharmed?"

"I just don’t want to kill you but if that’s what you want, I dont mind doing it," Lucien replied and began to approach them.

"Master, let us leave! You can’t die here!" Lilith said to Alex who glanced at her and turned to face Lucien.

"Well, do you want to die, or do you want to go and save your friends?" Lucien asked him.

"Raphael!" Alex suddenly gasped at the mention of friends. "Send me back," he said to Lucien who smirked and created a portal in the space.

"Get in," he said to them.

Alex glanced at Jack for a while and went ahead to enter the portal but before he stepped in, Lucien mumbled something to him.

"Before you get back, the school would have been completely wiped out," he said and pushed them inside before closing the portal.

"Boss..." Jack called.

"You’ve done a great job, now it’s time to reward you," Lucien said to him and turned around.

Jack gasped seeing the devilish look in his eyes, he tried to run away but Lucien took one step and with that one step, he caught him.

"You betrayed your friends, I can’t have someone like you by my side, or one day, you’ll also betray me," he said to Jack and squeezed his throat, killing him off immediately. "Tsk!" He clicked his tongue and left the room.

Meanwhile, Alex and Lilith appeared right inside his room and the first thing Alex did was to check up on his friend. Raphael’s room was the one next to his so he rushed to the door and pushed it open before rushing inside. After checking the whole place and didn’t see any signs of him, he rushed outside again.

"He’s not here," he said to Lilith and began to head to the other side of the school. Lilith could not just sit behind so she followed him even though she wasn’t strong enough.

On their way, the bodies of students were scattered all over the place. The ground was covered in blood and severed body parts and seeing this horrific sight, Alex’s mind skipped as he thought of Raphael. Making his way towards the Dean’s office, he sighted the blood spilled over the door and pushed it open. As soon as he went inside, he saw Derek and the Dean lying on the floor, their stomachs and chests were torn open and their vitals taken.

He gasped and covered his mouth as the sight before him was too unbearable.

"Raphael, I need to find him," he said and rushed out of the office. He searched around the vicinity of the office but didn’t see Raphael so he left and began to search for him in other places.

He soon got to the class area, there were more dead bodies of students lying on the ground. He had to start going from one corpse to another in search of Raphael and as he searched each body, his heart would skip a bit.

At last, he got to the last body, and turning it over, his heart skipped. It was as though he stopped breathing the very moment he saw Raphael.

"Ra—Rapheal," he called his friend with a stammer.

He ignored the blood stains all over Raphael’s body, his chest that was torn open, and half of his face that was smashed... He forgot them all and continued to shake his friend. "Hey, hey, speak to me, please!" He pleaded with tears already in his eyes.

Seeing her master in this state, Lilith dragged herself and went to hug him from behind. She wrapped her hands around his neck as she began to talk to him. "Master, it’s all my fault that things ended up this way. I’m sorry," she said to him.

"Why... Why, tell me why it had to be like this!" Alex grunted sadly and tears began to fall from his eyes. "Why do everyone around me get hurt because of me!" He yelled and slammed his fist on the ground causing that spot to crack. "Someone, tell me!"

"Master—" Lilith wanted to say something but Alex roughly pushed her away causing her to fall backwards. He gazed at Raphael as more tears streamed down from his eyes.

Lilith was not upset that he pushed her away. She understood what he was going through, the pain and anger he was feeling. It was after all her fault that his friend died. If only she had not been taken, Alex would have stayed behind and fought with his friend, perhaps... Who knows, he wouldn’t have died. At this, she moved a distance away from him and silently watched him cry his heart out.

Alex stayed in this position till daybreak, and when he was fed up with crying, he placed Raphael on the ground and stood up. After glancing at him for the last time, he turned around and saw Lilith lying unconscious on the ground and then he remembered how he pushed her away from him.

"Tsk!" He clicked his tongue and carried her up in his arms. He thought of going back to his room first but on his way, he met Mikasa.

"My Master told me to come and get you," she said to him.

"Tell him that I’m not coming," Alex replied and continued on his way.

"Staying here will do you both no good. Return with me and I’ll help you take care of her," Mikasa said to him.

Alex thought about seeing Damon, was he ready to face him yet? The answer is no but then, he can’t continue to run away from him. Besides, the woman in his arms needed urgent attention as she was still unconscious.

"I know why you are unwilling to come with me but this is the only way you can know the truth," Mikasa said to him, and he turned and glanced at her. "Don’t you want to know the truth about the death of your parents? This is the only way you can find out," she added, staring at him in the eyes.

"Fine..." he replied after a while. It’s not like he still had any reason to stay back — everyone he knew was gone, Raphael, Derek, the Dean, Klein, Kelvin, Layla... No one remained. There was absolutely no reason to stay back. "I’ll go with you."
