Before the Fall: Rise of the Apocalypse King-Chapter 42: The Last Man Standing
Chapter 42: The Last Man Standing
The night before the heist, Kang Dae Hyun stood on his apartment balcony, staring at the city below. Smoke from his cigarette curled around his face, and the cold air stung his skin. Tomorrow was the big day—the day his past and present would collide.
He took a long drag and whispered, "This time, I will survive."
Inside, the living room was messy with maps, blueprints, tools, and notes. His notebook lay open on the table. Every single mistake from the previous timeline was listed, underlined in red. Every failure, every death, every wrong step. But this time, he was ready, because he made a new plan,
titled: Plan for the Central Bank Heist
But this was his version.
He wasn’t going to share the prize. This time, he would take it all.
-----------------------
Day Of The Heist
At an underground hideout hidden behind an abandoned factory ten gang members gathered around a steel table. The leader, Boss Jin, stood at the head, glaring at each of them.
"Listen up," Jin said, pointing at the detailed map of the Central Bank of North Korea. "Their security drill starts at midnight. For two hours, the security is at its weakest. That’s our window."
The room was filled with silent nods, nervous fidgeting, and excitement.
Dae Hyun sat at the end of the table, calm as ever.
"We move in through the old sewer tunnel. Teams split after entry.
Team A secures the hostages.
Team B handles surveillance.
Team C – that’s me and Dae Hyun – we hit the vault."
Everyone had a role. Everyone had a job. But only Dae Hyun had a secret agenda.
He already knew where this plan would fail. Because it already had. In another life.
And this time, he wouldn’t die like last time.
---------
At exactly midnight, the gang moved. They descended into the sewers dressed in black, their boots splashing through murky water. The air was humid and smelled like death.
Dae Hyun led the way, stopping every few meters to check the walls. He had placed small hidden marks during the past few weeks while posing as a cleaning worker. Every twist, every hidden camera, every sensor—he had memorized them all.
They reached the old maintenance wall at the back of the bank. Dae Hyun drilled quietly, replacing the old cutting tools with newer, quieter equipment he had stashed there secretly.
The wall cracked.
They slipped inside.
The gang split into teams.
Team A—Minho and two others—moved toward the main floor. Within minutes, gunshots rang out as they took down the guards and locked down the building. Screams echoed through the marble halls.
Team B—Soojin and a hacker named Yul—shut down the external cameras and disabled internal alarms. But Dae Hyun had already re-routed one silent alarm back into his personal signal tracker.
Team C—Dae Hyun and Boss Jin—headed to the vault.
The door was enormous. Eight inches of steel, armed with a digital lock and thermal scanner.
Jin grinned. "You ready for history, Dae Hyun?"
"History won’t remember you," Dae Hyun replied with a faint smile.
Jin laughed, thinking it as a joke.
But they sure as hell will remember this heist.
They sure will.
------
It took twenty minutes to crack the vault using the thermal drill and fingerprint bypass Dae Hyun had upgraded. The door opened with a heavy groan, revealing the treasure inside.
Mountains of cash. Stacks of euros, U.S. dollars, yuan, and gold bars. Velvet boxes containing state-owned jewelry. And in the far corner—four metal cases full of uncut diamonds.
Jin’s jaw dropped. "We’re rich. We’re f*cking rich!"
Dae Hyun’s eyes were calm and cold.
Nearby team members gathered inside the valt.
The team began stuffing the loot into bags.
As chaos unfolded, Dae Hyun stepped aside, and pressed a button. A quiet beep echoed. It was the trigger for the real plan.
-------------
As Team A brought in hostages and regrouped, Minho couldn’t resist pocketing a small pouch of diamonds. Dae Hyun watched with sharp eyes.
"Boss, watchout!" Dae Hyun shouted.
Everyone turned.
Bang!
The bullet tore through Minho’s lungs.
Minho screamed, dropping to the floor. Blood spread fast.
The guard tryed to reload the gun,but
Bang !Bang !Bang !
Dae Hyun fired 3 shorts directly into guards forehead, killing him on the spot.
"Secure the hostages!" Jin barked. "We don’t have time!"
No one noticed Dae Hyun smirking as Minho bled to death.
What about him? One of the members asked.
"We can’t take him with us, he will only slow us down" Boss jin replied casually, like it’s a normal thing to do.
Minutes later, Soojin’s device beeped.
"Wait! Someone triggered a silent alarm!"
Jin cursed. "How? You said we were clean!"
Soojin panicked. Dae Hyun looked at her and said, "You screwed up."
He pulled out his pistol and shot her in the head.
Bang!
"We don’t need incompetent fools ."
Jin stared at him, shocked. "What the hell are you doing?!"
"Cleaning up."
Who the hell do you think you are, Fuck ?" boss jin growled, his voice like a blade in the dark.
"You shoot only when I say so. You don’t make calls—I do. Next time you even think about pulling the trigger on a gang member without asking me first, you’ll be sharing the grave with them. You understand?"
Do you fucking get it. You shit fuck!
His words weren’t loud, but they cut deep—like a warning written in blood.
Dae Hyun didn’t speak. He just nodded, casually but cold.
Let’s move, now! We don’t have time to waste around.
The cops will be here in 10, maybe less.
And the guards? They will surround us in 5, armed and ready.
Grab the last bags, no more stalling—
We get out, or we die in here.
Simple as that.
Let’s move.
---------
Including Dae Hyun, Jin, eight members were left near the vault.
As the last bags was dragged to the exit, the gang members wiped sweat from their brows, unaware they were seconds from hell. Dae Hyun stood a few feet away, silent, cold, his eyes like dead glass. Without a word, he pressed the button in his pocket.
A split-second later, thunder roared underground. The walls shook. Fire bloomed from hidden corners. Screams echoed and were swallowed by smoke and flame.
The bombs he’d planted on the way in did their job—swift, brutal, final.Loyalty, brotherhood meant nothing. Dae Hyun didn’t even flinch while killing them.
Jin snapped. "Are you insane?! What the fuck are you doing?
"Their job was done," Dae Hyun said in a calm voice.
"I just gave them what they earned."
"You’re have lost it, Dae Hyun!"
Just hear me out, okay?" Dae Hyun said, his voice calm like nothing was wrong.
"You’ve got 30 seconds to explain your crap," Boss Jin growled, his cold red eyes locked on him.
Dae Hyun didn’t flinch. "If we had split the loot with everyone else, we’d be stuck in this dirty life forever. But now... with them gone, it’s just us. We can take it all and vanish. Live easy, no strings."
Boss Jin paused for a second. Then he nodded. "Fine. Let’s move."
But as they turned to run, a sly grin crept onto Boss Jin’s face. His eyes lit up with greed. He had the same plan in mind.
At the exit, he looked over. "Didn’t knew you had it in you. That was cold." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Dae Hyun gave a faint smile. "Perks of standing in your shadow all these years."
"Hah... well said," Jin chuckled.
Then, without warning, he slowly reached for the gun behind his back.
"Then you should also know—I don’t like sharing my stuff."
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Before Boss Jin could even lift the gun, bullets tore through his chest. He staggered, eyes wide, falling to the floor like a broken puppet.
"I know," Dae Hyun said, stepping closer. "I don’t like sharing either."
"You... you..." Boss Jin choked, blood filling his mouth.
Bang. One clean shot to the forehead.
"Yeah, yeah. I know, shithead." Dae Hyun grinned darkly, his shadow stretching over the body.
-----------
Dae Hyun opened the hidden tunnel near their exit point. It led through forgotten bunkers and a disused metro line.
He emerged in an empty warehouse, where he had already stashed a decoy ambulance. Inside were fake IDs, a police uniform, and enough fuel to cross the border.
He packed all the loot into the back of the ambulance, nice and neat,
slammed the doors shut,
and drove off like nothing ever happened—
calm, steady, and smiling like it was just another day.

At Central Bank
The swat team stormed the bank within minutes.
All they found were dead bodies, injured civilians and chaos.
No money.
No diamonds.
No Kang Dae Hyun.
---
In a mountain lodge near the Chinese border, Dae Hyun unloaded the bags.
Billions in cash. Gold bars. Uncut diamonds. Ancient royal jewels.
He sat on the floor, breathing deeply.
No guilt. No regret.
Just silence.
He poured himself a drink.
Lit a cigarette.
And smiled.
"This world will be mine soon," he whispered.
He laughed. Cold. Sharp. Alone.
Because now, he had everything.
And in the new world he will be the god who rules them.
