"Ahhhhh!" Don Blanc shouted while running with his small feet. The water-attributed falcon on his shoulder clung tightly, trying its best not to fall off.

As he was running, behind him were five Ivory Scorpions chasing after them, their black shells glinting under the orange sun, and in their wake were dust clouds.

Don looked behind and couldn't help but grit his teeth upon seeing the monsters still chasing after him.

"Sh*t! They are persistent!" Don cursed as he jumped over a mound of sand. Because he was already at the 2nd-Step Foundation Building stage, utilizing Qi to enhance his ability became much easier.

Don then slid down the slope, and as he was on his way down, his vision zoomed into the distance. What he saw made the hair all over his body stand on end.

A dead end! He thought as a frown appeared on his face.

What lay in front of them was a massive cliff—a canyon with at least a five-hundred-meter gap to the other side. Don would need to leap this gap if he wanted to escape the monsters chasing after them.

However, Don already knew his limits, and just running away from the Ivory Scorpions had already exhausted him. The scorpions behind him were fast, even though they were only equivalent to the 1st-Step and 2nd-Step Foundation Building stages. This was why beasts were dreaded by many; their strength depended on their bodily structure, and they didn't need to cultivate to grow stronger.

Don continued running while planning his next move.

Clearly, he couldn't jump that far unless he had a Movement Technique or his cultivation was at the Qi Condensation Stage.

The only Techniques he knew were the Essence of Fighting and the Simple Breathing Technique. The Essence of Fighting had a way to increase his jumping ability, but it wouldn't be enough to close the gap.

Don could try to jump down, but considering this was a desert, what awaited him below was nothing but rocks and sand. His weak body wouldn't be able to handle the fall.

"I have to fight them," Don muttered as they approached the cliff.

Bluetooth, still perched on his shoulder, began chirping loudly, its high-pitched voice screaming at the top of its lungs as it realized the kid wasn't stopping!

"I don't want to die!" Bluetooth shouted, tears threatening to fall from its beady eyes.

The bird wanted to fly, but the fear of getting stabbed by poisonous stingers made its body stiff.

I have to stop. I have to stop!

Don realized he couldn't run forever. He just needed to be confident in his abilities and in the trust his Master had placed in him.

"Master trusts me. I need to show him that I can do this!" Don muttered as determination returned to his eyes.

Clenching his fists, he stopped in his tracks, just a foot away from falling off the high cliff. With a turn, he raised his fist and punched!

Behind him, one of the nearest Ivory Scorpions lunged at him—just in time for Don's fist to connect with its head.

A loud cracking sound echoed, followed by the sound of something crashing into the ground. With a booming noise, a dust cloud was raised.

Don's eyes widened upon seeing the monster fly from his punch. "I… I did it!"

His heart skipped a beat from the intense excitement he felt. The exhilaration of punching a monster off its feet lingered in his heart, causing all the adrenaline to rush into his head.

"Hell yeah!" Don shouted to the sky. For the first time, he truly felt what it meant to have strength.

However, as he was looking at the orange sky, a black stinger came into his vision. And seeing this, a smile came to his face. Without losing his composure, he took a step to the side, the stinger crashing into his previous spot.

Then, Don held the scorpion's tail before throwing the whole beast into the canyon.

The Ivory Scorpion crashed against the side of the cliff, slamming into pointy rocks and causing its body to explode upon contact with the ground.

After watching everything unfold, Don turned to the remaining beasts in front of him.

He saw the first monster he punched already on its four feet, but its whole head was already cracked, oozing black blood.

With confidence in his body, Don didn't feel fear anymore. Smirking, he slowly walked toward the nearest scorpion while the others surrounded him.

"Master is right. I can handle all of you!" Don said.

The four beasts began growling at Don, moving slowly as they realized the threat coming from him.

"Yeah, be scared!" Don's smile widened while he lowered his body. "Because I'm going to kill all of you!"

With a shout, Don dashed toward the nearest Ivory. His speed instantly pushed him in front of the monster's head.

Don lifted his foot before sending it down on the scorpion! The black scorpion responded with its stinger, but Don had already anticipated it. With a tilt of his head, the attack missed him, and his foot crashed into the monster's head.

The Ivory Scorpion crashed into the ground, the scales on its head cracking.

Don landed, and before the other beasts could get close to him, he kicked the scorpion's head, causing it to explode. His foot was covered in blood, but he wasn't bothered by it as he continued his way to kill the rest of the Ivory Scorpions.

With his newfound strength and confidence, Don dodged all of the stingers as his senses detected them. Using the Essence of Fighting inside his head, Don utilized Qi and his body to their limits, each kick and punch breaking the scales of the monsters as if they were nothing.

If he didn't manage to kill it in one blow, he would do it in two. And if not in two, then in three.

He maneuvered between the three Ivory Scorpions, their bodies getting swept by his attacks. Some of them were sent flying a few meters before getting back on their feet, only to die right after as Don went after them. It didn't take long before he killed the other two.

However, as Don's confidence increased, the last standing monster managed to graze his cheek with its stinger.

"Hehe, that's luck!" Don laughed as he didn't bother with his wound. He sidestepped to the monster's side with his hand raised. Like the string of a bow being pulled to its limit, Don launched his fist at the last Ivory Black.

But as his fist was about to land on the monster's side, his whole body suddenly stopped.

Don's eyes widened as he couldn't understand what was happening. He tried to move, but his fist only moved an inch.

"Sh*t! The poison!" Don realized as he felt the burning pain coursing through him.

The excitement and confidence in his heart dwindled, and horror came back.

I was careless… Don thought as the monster turned toward him. "I became arrogant."
