Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord-Chapter 285: Helping hand (2)
Chapter 285: Helping hand (2)
Michael shook his head at Darius’s foolish ways. There would be a war by morning with Darius’s plans. It was a good time to get out of the palace since it might be stormed by angry humans.
"I woke up for this," Michael said, annoyed.
If the others had listened to his plans to simply kill Darius, this all could have been avoided.
Michael walked in the opposite direction from where Darius was heading and was startled by a loud noise.
"What now?" Michael muttered.
Michael started to rethink becoming king now that he saw how hectic the palace could be. He was only here for a few days, yet this was the busiest his life had ever been.
Michael stood at a good distance, watching as guards ran by him in a panic, speaking about the queen. He didn’t have his run-in with Vivienne and saw it now as a perfect chance.
Maybe Vivienne could talk some sense into her husband, or, alongside Darius needing to leave the palace, Vivienne needed to join him.
’They are both crazy,’ Michael thought as he watched Vivienne force her way out of a room.
Vivienne was far stronger than she looked, which helped her to grab some of the guards and toss them out of her way.
"Stop!" Michael ordered the guards. He approached where Vivienne stood with her hand around a guard’s neck. "The king has tasked me with taking care of the queen. This isn’t strong enough to hold her. You have better strength than most, don’t you?"
"Michael," said Vivienne. "What are you doing here? Why would you, of all people, be working with my husband?
"You are still so kind as to refer to him as your husband. Even after he imprisoned you, or maybe I have judged this wrong," Michael said, forced to stop by a guard pointing a weapon at him. "That looks sharp. Be careful where you put it," he said, touching the tip of the sword.
Michael peered down at the guard. "What’s a little sword going to do to a pureblood? Hmm."
Michael looked ahead at the guard to Vivienne, who was close to killing the guard in her hold. "I just want to talk. I can take you to a more pleasant room. Oh," he chuckled. "That’s the kind of talent you have," he said after Vivienne vanished into thin air.
Michael wasn’t as worried as the guards who panicked. Vivienne could vanish as much as she liked, but that didn’t change that she was still too loud.
"I have heard of some of you vanishing, but I had never seen it myself. How do you get it to make your dress vanish with you? That is the true mystery here," Michael said, following the noise Vivienne was making. "Teach me how to do that, and I just might help you with your husband."
He placed his hands behind his back as he walked. "All this time, you could vanish, yet you decided to stay around him. I’m not saying you are as foolish as he is, but you aren’t as sensible as I once thought of you."
Michael looked to his right, where he heard Vivienne running. A game of hide and seek wasn’t what he expected now, but he played into it.
"I don’t know why he has locked you away, but you are still the queen. I need you to challenge what Darius is planning to do in the town. Place yourself in a good light to make up for all the evil you have done. Killing those women, I mean," Michael said, growing tired of the chase.
Michael continued, "Darius will go down as a terrible king. You still have a good chance to fix how you will be remembered. It’s either this or I’ll kill you both."
"Shut up," Vivienne said, appearing to aim for Michael’s neck. She had quickly grown tired of him being so close to where she walked. "I don’t want to do anything for you. I’m only interested in killing Darius, not stopping his plans."
"Ow," Vivienne winced, releasing her hold on Michael. "You burned me. How?" She asked, stepping away from Michael.
"My family has a thing for the elements. It’s about time you showed yourself. It was starting to annoy me having to chase after you. Why don’t we talk somewhere more private?" Michael asked, looking back at the guards approaching.
It would be so much easier if he just killed them, but since they were only following orders, Michael didn’t want to harm them.
Michael smiled. "Move quickly to lose sight of them."
Vivienne didn’t trust Michael, but at the moment, he was the only person around for her to rely on.
Vivienne vanished again and led Michael to where they could speak alone.
Michael walked quickly, escaping the soldiers thanks to a gust of wind blowing behind him at the right time.
Michael followed Vivienne to a small room meant for storing brooms. "This is quite interesting," he said, holding onto a small broom before it could fall.
"There isn’t a magic stone here, so we will be overheard," Vivienne said before they spoke of anything important.
"I am well aware and magic stones do not matter now. The palace is a mess, and the town will be too shortly since your husband has led his guards to kidnap humans. He’s going to ruin our food. Many humans will die in his attempt to trap them," said Michael.
Vivienne had better things to worry about. "Didn’t you hear me say that I am only interested in killing my husband? I’m sure his family supports what he is doing, so even if I kill him, they’ll support his sister. Where is she?"
Vivienne wanted to kill Morgana as well. She could not forget Morgana being so bold as to mention that she would raise the princess.
"I have not seen the princess during the time I have been here. Perhaps she was smart to leave after learning of her brother’s plans. Morgana is easier to deal with than her brother. You killing Darius would slow down his plans. All you need is a holy weapon," said Michael.
"I don’t know where to find him, but judging by the smile you show, you know where to find them. I don’t trust you," Vivienne said, suspecting Michael had other motives.
"And I don’t trust you. We make the perfect team. If I tell you where to find the holy weapons, all you need to do is kill Darius with them and then we’ll put them back. You get rid of your husband, and I have one less person to worry about aiming for king. Deal?" Michael asked, offering his hand for the deal to be made.
Vivienne still didn’t trust Michael, but after Darius tried to lock her away, all she wanted was to kill him. "Deal," she replied, shaking Michael’s hand.
