Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord-Chapter 307: Quiet day (1)
Chapter 307: Quiet day (1)
Selene woke up to the sunlight creeping through the windows. Immediately, she dreaded what Xavier had planned for the day.
Selene was surprised Xavier had not woken her up right away when the sun was greeting the town. He had allowed her to rest and did nothing while they lay in each other’s arms.
Selene peered to her right, finding Xavier fast asleep. Or so he wanted her to believe.
"I know that you are awake," Selene said, poking his cheek. "You always wake up earlier than I do."
Xavier captured her finger and opened his eyes. "I was giving you a little more time to rest. You ruined it."
Xavier pressed his hand against Selene’s lower back to bring her closer to him.
"You were so eager last night, but now you are quite calm. What is it that you are planning? Tell me so that I can be prepared," said Selene.
"If you don’t like it, will you take back your offer?" Xavier asked.
"No," Selene replied, poking her finger at his chest. "I meant what I said. I thought of everything you could want me to do, and I still accept it. I just want to know what you have planned first so I can be prepared."
"It is nothing for you to prepare yourself for, but I am curious what it is you think that I want," Xavier said.
Selene wasn’t going to fall into Xavier’s trap. "You already know what I am thinking. Must you make me say it?"
"I don’t have the power to read your mind, Selene. You must tell me what you are thinking."
Selene folded her lips. All she wanted to do was get out of bed and leave Xavier behind. "We have been a bit too busy to be intimate, and after last night, I am sure that is how you planned to spend the day. Is it not?"
Selene would be surprised if this wasn’t what Xavier planned because it was the first thing that she thought of.
Xavier kissed Selene’s forehead and released her so he could get out of bed. "I am tempted to do it, but it is not how I want to spend the entire day. I will let Agnes come in to dress you, and then we have somewhere to go alone. Do not overthink it."
Selene didn’t know how not to overthink what Xavier was planning. She had already made up her mind that they would spend the day making love in ways she would normally not be open to, but that was not what Xavier had planned.
"Xavier," Selene said, sitting up. "Are you still going to make up with your father like you said you would?"
Xavier stopped to look at Selene. "What are you talking about? When did I ever say that? Are you ill?"
Selene shook her head. "No, I wanted to check that you were not a shapeshifter. It is you."
"Is it bothering you that I didn’t plan to make love to you right away? I can change my plans," Xavier said, returning to bed.
"No, no," Selene said, putting her hands out to stop him. "I am only surprised. You don’t need to switch your plans around for me. I am listening to you today, so why do you care what I think? We should get Agnes to help dress me quickly."
Selene got out of bed before Xavier could sit down. She bit her lip, regretting questioning his plans. Now he knew what she had been thinking of all last night before she went to sleep.
"I am going to do just what you are thinking," Xavier said just before she could open the door. "I am going to make love to you, but I am a gentleman to know not to tire you out when you just woke up. You need blood as well. Stop overthinking, Selene."
Xavier had their day mapped out well. They would end the day in each other’s arms, but first, there was something Xavier wanted to do with Selene.
"You must open the door, Selene. Only then can Agnes come inside."
"Oh, right," Selene said, realising the door was still closed.
Selene opened the door to welcome Agnes in.
"Good morning. Milady?" Agnes frowned, puzzled by the expression Selene showed when she opened the door. "Are you well?"
"I don’t know if I will be," Selene replied, her cheeks somehow managing to feel warm. "Make me pretty today, Agnes. It is a special day."
Not long after, Selene walked with Xavier out one of the doors of the estate, which would take them along the same path they had walked one night. It was the same path where they had been disturbed by Jasper keeping watch on them.
Xavier held a parasol, covering Selene mostly since she wasn’t always able to tolerate the sun and in his left hand was a basket Harold prepared at his request.
Selene looked around the outside of the estate, enjoying the sight of the servants back out to work. Last night, everyone had been afraid and rightfully so. Now, they have calmed down a lot more.
"When will we be able to let the servants go out? When do you think it will be safe to walk around outside?" Selene asked.
"It is hard to tell, and I don’t know much since I have been here with you. If they want to leave to visit family or to go see what has become of the town, they can go. Most of the danger has gone, and we cannot hold them back," Xavier replied.
"Don’t be concerned about them right now. Think about me since it is my day," Xavier said, lowering the parasol to block Selene’s view of the servants.
Selene laughed at Xavier’s childishness. "I’m sorry. How could I forget that it is your day? Must I still owe you a kiss for apologising?"
"I wasn’t going to ask for it, but since you mention it, I think I am owed a kiss. I am looking forward to it by the end of the day," said Xavier.
"Of course. Are you certain that I cannot hold the basket? I already feel bad that you are holding the parasol for me. I am quite strong to be able to hold a basket. Let me," Selen said, reaching for the basket only to have it pulled away.
"I can carry it."
Selene hooked her arm with Xavier’s so it would almost be like they were holding hands. "Where are we going? For a picnic?"
"Yes, that is how we shall start our day. I have seen humans enjoying doing this and thought you would enjoy it as well. This might be the most peaceful day we shall ever have, so I want to treat you to a quiet morning," Xavier shared his first plans.
Part of the day that Selene offered to him would be used to make Selene have an enjoyable day without someone bothering her. They had to make the most of this peace before they were disturbed by someone new.
