Betrothed To An Alpha? I Don't Think So!-Chapter 94: Were They Okay?
Chapter 94: Were They Okay?
Dario didn’t, instead he said, "I understand you’re frustrated, after all, your mate is missing. But that doesn’t mean you should act like you’ve lost your mind. You’re not the type to hurt Alessio, you would never do that, so snap out of it."
"Dario, take your hand off me. Don’t make me repeat myself—"
"Apologize to him."
"Dario—"
"Apologize to him."
Zayne took a deep breath. He looked at his brother, grabbed his wrist, so hard that Dario’s face contorted at the pain of feeling his bone being crushed.
"I told you to get your hand off me."
He stormed off, and Dario turned to go after him, but he suddenly fell to his knees, clutching his stomach.
He coughed hard, spurting out a mouthful of blood.
"Dario...?" Alessio muttered, rushing over to him. "Dario, what’s wrong—"
His eyes dropped to his bloody hands, and his face grew pale immediately, before he shouted.
"ZAYNE!!!!"
"Zayne!!! Dario. D-dario, he’s hurt. Oh fuck, oh fuck, he’s hurt. Zayne!!"
Zayne paused. He quickly turned around, and seeing Dario where he was keeled over on the ground, his pupils dilated and he rushed back to him, grabbing his arm.
"What happened? What happened to him?!"
"I think...I think he got shot." Alessio had begun breathing hard, seemingly hyperventilating. "He’s bleeding. Z-zayne, he’s bleeding out."
Zayne cupped Dario’s cheek. "Dario. Dario, look at me. Dario, c’mon, look at me! Say something."
But Dario couldn’t speak. All he could do was cough all over and over again, groaning as he clutched at his shot wound.
"He’s been shot. Z-zayne, he’s been shot."
Alessio was now sobbing, staring at the man who looked on the verge of death. He’d already lost one too many blood. While they may not be human, it doesn’t mean things like this couldn’t kill them. If he’d been treated right after, everything would’ve been fine. But who knew how long Dario had been bleeding?
Why didn’t he say anything to them?
"Stop crying, Alessio!"
"Zayne—"
"Get the car. Drive it over, do you hear me?"
But Alessio was breathing heavily, unable to move.
"Alessio!" he yelled his name. "Snap out of it. Dario isn’t going to die, so calm down and get the car around. Please!"
"Okay, okay."
Alessio rapidly nodded. He stood to his feet, rushed over to get to where the car was parked. Then he got in, proceeding to take a reverse and drive closer to them.
Zayne forced himself to his feet. He threw Dario’s arm around his shoulder and began to help him towards the car as fast as he could.
"Zayne..." Dario whispered to him.
"Stop talking, Dario. Not—"
"I’m sorry that we couldn’t get her back. I know what it’s like to...lose a mate. I’ve been there and I know it’s driving you crazy. So, I’m not blaming you for anything." A little smile played on his lips. "And you don’t have to worry about anything. I know you’ll still find her, after all..."
He started coughing hard again, groaning as he pressed into the wound.
"Just stop talking. Please. Not now. When you’re all better, we’ll talk. I promise. So, stop. Reserve your strength," Zayne begged him.
Alessio, who’d already pulled over the car, stepped down and rushed over to open the backseat door. He helped put Dario in the backseat.
"Drive him home and call Siena, so that by the time you get there, she’s available," Zayne said as he took off his shirt, tearing off a long layer of it. He used it to tie around the wound, trying to stop the bleeding as much as he could.
"This is going to hurt, Dario."
Dario watched him with slightly blurry eyes as he grabbed the only bottle of alcohol in the car and proceeded to pour it over the wound.
"This will slow down the bleeding. Can you hold out until you get to Seiana?" he asked.
Dario smirked at him. "I’m not a kid, Zayne. I’ll be fine."
Zayne stared at his pale face. He swallowed thickly, nodding with a shuddering breath fleeing his nose.
He proceeded to get out of the car, but Dario grabbed his hand. "Where are you going?"
"I have something to deal with. Alessio will drive you."
Alessio quickly looked at him. "Y-you’re not coming?"
"I’ll follow ahead. Just go for now." Zayne turned away and proceeded to leave.
But Dario wouldn’t let go of his hand.
"Zayne—"
"I’ll follow," Zayne said to him. "I just have something to deal with."
Alessio was frowning.
He couldn’t do anything but watch him leave.
Zayne didn’t stop walking off, even when he heard them drive off. Instead, he stormed his way into the building toward Silas who was still on the floor, though still breathing.
He snatched him by the collar of his shirt, yanking him up. "Where did he take her to?"
Silas wouldn’t talk. Instead, he smirked at him. "Why...would I tell you?"
"Don’t make me force it out of you!" he gritted out.
Silas chuckled, coughing out heavily.
"Forget about it, Mr. Mancini. You’re never seeing that woman again. She’s far too out of your reach now."
"What?"
Silas threw his head back and burst into laughter, so hard, Zayne couldn’t resist punching him hard against the face, frustrated.
He began to drag him through the floor out of the building.
Just like the chopper, they had cars parked around the building. And he was more than sure Silas had a key to one of them, after all, he wasn’t going to leave this island on foot.
Patting him down, he grabbed the key inside his suit inner pocket and clicked, searching for the car it belonged to.
"There."
Silas tried to keep up with him as he dragged him across the concrete ground toward the car.
"I’ll make you talk to me, and it’s not going to be nice at all. You’re going to wish you spoke too soon." Zayne shoved him inside, but before he took the driver’s seat, he delivered one last punch that sent Silas unconscious in seconds.
He rounded over to the driver’s side, got in, and reversed to drive off onto the road. Amidst the ride, he dialed Alessio who didn’t answer on the first try.
He tried over and over again, but he never picked up and now he was starting to get paranoid.
Has something happened? Were they okay?
He’d had no choice but to stay back because Silas was his last clue to finding Evelyn. If he let the bastard go, he might never find her again. And even if he did, it might be far too late.
