Beyond the Apocalypse-Chapter 80: The power of the inner circle
Chapter 80: The power of the inner circle
Clasius, Amara, and Roman showed broad smiles full of thrill and excitement as they saw the fall of the Spiked Gorilla. That creature was a Champion demon, capable of killing dozens of people at the Mortal Tier without a problem. Yet, they took him down by exploiting their abilities and teamwork!
It was extremely hard, and Clasius almost perished more than once, but they succeeded thanks to everybody doing their part. Their sense of thrill only grew stronger as, in the following second, thick streams of golden energy began to flow into their bodies.
The Plane Will was rewarding them for killing the Spiked Gorilla with Origin Force, and even after it was divided into three, it was more than they could obtain from killing demonic beasts.
Before, the trio would have allowed the Origin Force to flow into their Sea of Consciousness and become Force Water, enhancing their energy pools. But things had changed. Thanks to Vlad’s guidance and cultivation techniques, they understood the importance of carefully nurturing their energy pool and not stressing their Sea of Consciousness.
Luckily, their bodies would not face that problem, and they sent their Origin Force into their flesh and blood, restoring their stamina and improving their strength and vitality.
Clasius benefited the most from the Origin Force. Although he had not given the final blow, he had taken the brunt of the battle, and it was his last hammer strike to the elbow that incapacitated the Spiked Gorilla, preventing the demon from blocking Amara’s sword strike.
As the Origin Force healed Clasius’ wounds and strengthened his flesh and blood, he glanced at Amara and Roman. There were no words from their mouths, but they had trained hard for this moment, and a single glance was enough to determine their next move.
Not far from where the Spiked Gorilla had fallen, the Fire Bear still resisted the barrage of explosions and metallic projectiles. The attacks had riddled his body with wounds, and there was not a part of his fur that was not burned or bleeding, especially his right paw, which he had used to protect his face.
Yet despite all that, the Champion demon showed a fierce smile. The power of the human spellcasters was impressive, incredibly high for Mortal standards, but it was still not high enough to take him down, and he could feel how their energy pools were diminishing rapidly.
As soon as the barrage of spells and attacks diminished in intensity, the Flame Bear was ready to lunge toward the duo and rip them to pieces, devouring their flesh and blood. However, just as he felt the moment was coming, his instincts screamed in danger!
This surprised the Flame Bear, and he did not understand where this sudden change came from. The Champion demon had focused all his intent on the two spellcasters, not wanting to lose sight of them. So, he did not see the death of the Spiked Gorilla, and by the time he realized something was wrong, it was too late.
The first thing that came was several sharp arrows that seemed to twist at impossible angles. They dodged the right paw of the Flame Bear and landed straight into his face, one piercing into his right eye!
"Graaahhg!" A scream of pure pain emerged from the Champion demon as his right eyeball burst into a gory mess.
Agony and fear assaulted the Champion demon. Even though those arrows lacked the power to pierce his defenses, they still did a lot of damage. To make things worse, he did not see where they came from and was now partly blinded.
Before the Champion demon could process the shock from the arrows, he detected a presence approaching him. Still, the explosions, metallic projectiles, and the bleeding wound on his right eye made it impossible for him to counter it.
"¡Boom!"
A small kinetic blast echoed across the battlefield as Clasius’ white hammer landed with ferocious power on the back of the Champion demon. The next second, the sound of cracking bones emerged from the Fire Bear’s body, proving the attack’s power and damage.
Clasius showed a fierce smile as he felt his hammer strike but did not lose focus, immediately planting his white shield on the ground before him and raising its weight. He had already learned just how massive the vitality of these Champions was, and while that strike could have shattered a small car, it was far from enough to take down the Fire Bear.
Just as Clasius expected, the Fire Bear was able to endure the injury on his back, and the attack revealed the human’s position. He rose on his two hind legs, sending a ferocious strike toward the human. His fiery claw landed with so much power on the white shield that it generated cracks and sent Clasius flying away.
Clasius felt his arm tremble, and a metallic taste appeared in his mouth, once again proving how dangerous it was for Mortals to face a Champion. And things would not end with a simple claw strike, as the Flame Bear had already focused on him.
The Flame Bear was ready to lunge toward the nearby human, making his dark Force burst to temporarily ignore the barrage of spells and projectiles. However, before he could make the first move, a dark mist appeared next to his right leg, and the next second, a small sword pierced into his ankle.
"Single Pierce!" Amara’s voice echoed once more across the battlefield as she managed to sneak up on another Champion demon and burst the white Force in her sword, harming all the flesh, tendons, and bones around it.
"Graaahhg!" The Flame Bear screamed once more in pure agony as the damage to his right hind leg was ferocious, forcing him back to the ground. He was ready to exact revenge, but the woman vanished in a puff of mist just as she appeared.
Roman, Frank, and Mirena ramped up their attacking speed. They were not only trying to hinder the movement and sight of the Fire Bear anymore but also increasing the size and severity of the wounds on the Champion demon.
That attack speed would drain their already low energy pools in minutes, but the trio knew it was worth it if they could take down the Champion demon.
Amara and Clasius were not hasty, nor did they rush things. Instead, the duo slowly walked around the Fire Bear, awaiting their chance to land a new strike. Patience was hard, but the duo were soldiers with years of training, so they could keep control over their hearts and waited for the right moment.
The last of the Champion demons, the Demonic Hyena, had focused more on the battlefield. He saw how the Spiked Gorilla was taken down and the horrible wounds the Fire Bear took. He was shocked and furious at the puny humans he only saw as food for daring to do so much damage to them.
However, no matter the rage of the Demonic Hyena, he could do nothing as the man in front of him attacked like a madman, waving that massive white club with great skill and ferocity.
Cazan showed a fierce smile as he used his club skills to fight the Demonic Hyena. While the Champion demon was stronger and faster, his body’s endurance was superb thanks to his Gift, and he could take the Champion demon head-on.
The young man did not think he could kill the Champion demon on his own, and his mission was only to tackle this one until the rest of his companions, whose defenses and survival skills were weaker, were free and could assist him.
Vlad was on the other end of the battlefield, but he could see how his inner circle was taking down the Champion demons with extreme skill and proficiency, making his killing intent only grow stronger as the speed at which his sword moved improved.
The young man’s sword and the Golden Demon Lizard’s claws clashed over and over again, and with every exchange, the Champion demon gained more wounds.
Finally, the battle reached its apex as Vlad found an opening. His white Force concentrated into his arms and sword as electric arcs covered his body, propelling him forward.
"Single Cut Slash!" The young man’s voice was full of killing intent and determination as he hacked with all his strength at a shocking speed.
The Golden Demon Lizard could barely move his body to the side, saving his head from being cut in two. However, the sword slash still landed on the right side of his body, and the power it carried was so immense that it severed his right arm and shoulder from the rest of his chest!
"GRRRRAAHHHGG!" A scream of pain and agony emerged from the Golden Demon Lizard as that wound was nothing short of crippling. But there was not much time for those feelings as the black eyes of the young man focused on him, full of murderous intent.
Vlad showed a cold smile as he saw the fear and pain in the eyes of the Golden Demon Lizard, happy to see the demon bear part of the agony that the people in Quiet Breeze Town endured. Still, he did not lose himself in those feelings of revenge, as this was a battlefield, and prepared to deliver the final blow.
"Enough of this!" Just as Vlad prepared his final blow, a voice full of rage and hatred emerged from the lower half of the horde, raising the mountain. The next second, a figure rose into the sky, covered in waves of fire.
