Beyond the Apocalypse-Chapter 98: Demonic Lightning Prowler
Chapter 98: Demonic Lightning Prowler
After completing Mirena’s runic engraving, Vlad continued with the rest of the inner circle, creating Runic Sets for Roman, Frank, Clasius, and Amara.
While the process was torturous, each soldier couldn’t help but smile widely, full of excitement and thrill, once the Runic Set was fully engraved into their flesh. They felt their new powers surging within them.
The group was confident that if they had possessed this power during the clash with the high demonic horde, they would have been able to butcher the Champion demons without needing Jormungandr’s intervention.
Of course, they were not worried about finding opportunities to test this power. In a chaotic world full of demons and angels, battles would not be in short supply anytime soon.
Vlad was also extremely pleased with the work, as he felt his skills as a Runemaster had greatly improved. While the A.I. Chip could analyze and process information at a speed and efficiency much greater than his own, there was one area where it depended on him: innovation.
If intelligence was the ability to apprehend and perceive what is, then there was nothing more intelligent than the A.I. Chip. But it depended on Vlad to perceive what could be. That was why, although the chip was a powerful asset, Vlad knew he should never stop improving his own skills.
Vlad stood before the inner circle, their eyes filled with a mix of awe, admiration, and deep devotion. In this apocalyptic world, they had found their leader, a messianic figure they believed in wholeheartedly.
Vlad smiled as he saw the light in their eyes. "You have worked very hard this past month and should take the rest of the week to relax. Allow your minds and bodies to rest, and do not think of training for a little while."
Although training was very important, Vlad knew relaxation was also critical to a warrior’s growth. If you tense a bowstring for too long without letting it rest, it will eventually snap. People were not machines; they could not work day and night nonstop without rest.
Cazan, Mirena, Clasius, Frank, and Roman all showed broad smiles as they heard these words, as they were indeed exhausted from the last month of nonstop training and the gut-wrenching fight a few days ago. However, Amara showed an inquisitive expression as she spoke to Vlad.
"Leader, I am happy for the time off, but if possible, I would like to know our next moves. I have always felt that knowing what lies ahead allows a mind not to waste energy on useless thoughts." Amara’s eyes were sharp as she spoke respectfully, showing deep-seated military discipline and inquisitiveness.
Vlad glanced at her and saw how her words resonated with the rest of the inner circle. There was no problem in telling them ahead of time, so he nodded to her before speaking in a solemn voice. "Soon, we will start a massive rescue operation that will spread throughout the area, including neighboring cities. You six will become the main force of the squads that will leave the Silent Wind Military Base. You must ensure the survival of our soldiers in the field and maintain order and discipline through your might and power."
A solemn expression appeared on the faces of the inner circle as they heard those words and understood the importance of their next mission. While they were calling themselves the Xaos Kingdom, there were fewer than one thousand people, so they had to increase their numbers unless they wanted to become a laughingstock.
Vlad made six communicator gems appear and handed one to each inner circle member. "These are communicator gems that work basically as phones. Grand Marshal Anglius will summon you when the time comes. In the meantime, take my advice and rest."
The four men and two women were surprised by the communicator gems, again marveling at their King’s innovations. Each of them clasped their hands and bowed before exiting the tower, leaving Vlad and the small yellow cat alone.
Once the group left, Vlad turned his eyes toward Jormungandr, who looked back at him. The smaller the space, the more precision required to engrave a rune, and the cat’s body was small.
That was why Vlad worked on the other six first, improving his skills before focusing on the small yellow cat with his A.I. Chip and carrying out the analysis.
Jormungandr’s eyes narrowed as his own A.I. Chip warned him about the probing force, but he commanded the chip to do nothing and allowed the power to thoroughly scan every inch of his body.
After a few minutes, the robotic voice of the A.I. Chip echoed inside Vlad’s mind, and a virtual representation of the small yellow cat appeared along with all the knowledge regarding the new Runic Set.

Runes: Rune of Storm’s Eye (Inscribed on the forehead), Rune of Thunderclaw (Inscribed on the claws), Rune of Lightning Reflexes (Inscribed on the legs), Rune of Storm Surge (Inscribed on the back), Rune of Demonic Battery (Inscribed on the tail), Rune of Electric Vitality (Inscribed on the chest).]
Vlad couldn’t help but smile with thrill as he observed the power of the Demonic Lightning Prowler Runic Set.
While it was a Rank 2 Runic Set like the other inner circle members, it was significantly more powerful. Vlad saw how the set could amplify the small yellow cat’s lightning abilities and physical agility, allowing for fluid, devastating attacks and swift evasive maneuvers. At the same time, it resonated with natural electrical energy in the environment, enhancing the Mage’s spell potency and reducing the magic cost of casting lightning spells.
