Chapter 310: Troll vs. Ogre

With that, the troll turned his attention to the armoured knight, throwing his right leg forward in a powerful kick. The knight raised its shield to block, but the sheer force behind the impact shattered the shield and sent the metallic golem hurtling through the air.

As the knight was flung backwards, the troll leapt after it, closing the distance in an instant.

From below, Jamie cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted, "Go, Vuzashi! I choose you!"

[That joke is thousands of years old already!] Vuzashi bellowed back.

But even as he shouted, he swung his great sword overhead, bringing it down with the intent to split the armoured knight in half.

At the last moment, the knight twisted and rolled aside, barely avoiding the strike. The impact of Vuzashi’s sword split the earth open, carving a ravine that stretched over a kilometre in length.

Watching the knight evade his attack, Vuzashi smirked.

[Oh, this hunk of metal’s pretty fast. Let’s see just how fast it really is.]

With speed that belied his massive frame, he dashed behind the knight, his blade flashing as he swung.

By the time 90% of those watching could even register his movement, the knight’s shield arm was flying through the air.

Watching Vuzashi manhandle the armoured knight, Jamie conjured another summoning circle.

"Since I called you here, I might as well call your best friend too!"

Casually waving his hand, he formed a shield to block an incoming strike from the giant white tiger who was still trying to eliminate him while fighting Glox.

Vuzashi, who had been in the middle of grabbing the armoured knight by the neck, froze and turned his head after hearing Jamie’s words.

[Best friend? What best friend?]

The armoured golem took the opportunity to swing its sword, stabbing him in the side, but Vuzashi didn’t even flinch.

He simply flung the knight away like a ragdoll before yanking the blade out of his torso. Then, before the watching eyes of everyone present, his wound sealed itself shut in mere seconds, his troll regeneration working at full force.

Then Jamie’s response reached his ears.

"Of course, it’s your best friend, Magruk!"

[?!]

Vuzashi’s brow twitched repeatedly at the name.

[How the fuck is that bastard my best friend?!]

Sadly for him, before his words could even reach Jamie’s ears, the summoning circle had already activated and another massive figure emerged.

It was a giant green-skinned ogre, standing just a little taller than Vuzashi. His hulking frame was clad in light armour and beneath it, he wore relatively normal clothing—a simple shirt and brown trousers.

His thick arms bulged with muscle, and his deep-set eyes glowed with sharp intelligence, in contrast to the brutish stereotype of his kind.

The moment he arrived, the ogre—Magruk—sensed a familiar presence and slowly turned in Vuzashi’s direction.

[...]

[...]

The two stared at one another in silence, the sounds of battle between Glox and the white tiger serving as background noise.

Then, without a word, Magruk shifted into a fighting stance, and Vuzashi’s sword glowed with sword law energy.

They were about to charge right at one another when Jamie’s voice rang out.

"Hey, Magruk, Vuzashi. So, I picked up this really nice great sword when I was in another universe called Valmone."

Casually, Jamie reached into his subspace and pulled out a massive six-meter-long great sword, effortlessly balancing its immense weight on his left index finger as he continued.

"And I was just wondering—which one of you would it fit better?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

He smirked.

"First person to take down all the enemies gets the sword."

Instantly, the two hulking existences had their eyes light up with fervour. Their rivalry was forgotten just as quickly, and they immediately shifted their attention to Orikar Jr., who had just begun summoning a third entity.

Feeling two pairs of glowing eyes locked onto him, Orikar Jr. hurriedly funnelled magic power into his summoning circles and called out.

"Come forth, Devouring Mantis!"

From the glowing circle, a towering ten-meter-tall praying mantis emerged, its elongated body covered in razor-sharp spines and hooks.

Without a moment’s delay, Orikar Jr. conjured another summoning circle, sending both the armoured golem and the Devouring Mantis charging forward to buy himself time.

His left hand conjured support spells, reinforcing his summons, while his right hand modulated the runes of his summoning circle.

The seamless execution of multiple spells at once was a clear display of his mastery of the summoning arts.

While he did this, Vuzashi clashed against the armoured knight once more, its freshly regenerated shield raised in defence. With a grunt, the troll swung his great sword in an overhead arc.

The moment the knight lifted its shield to block, a deafening crack echoed through the battlefield as the force behind Vuzashi’s strike shattered the shield into fragments.

Before the knight could react, he twisted his grip and delivered a follow-up slash, his blade carving through the steel construct with terrifying ease. The knight’s arm, newly reformed, was severed once again, sent spiralling through the air.

On the other hand, Magruk charged at the Devouring Mantis, his hands glowing with the power of earth laws. The energy solidified, forming metallic gauntlets that encased his massive fists.

The mantis moved with blinding speed, darting around in unpredictable patterns while spewing toxic green mist. Magruk reacted instantly, slamming his fists into the ground and blowing away the poisonous cloud with the resultant shockwaves.

A split second later, howling wind blades lashed toward him, but Magruk countered with wind laws, conjuring his own wind blades to deflect the attacks.

With those same wind laws, he created a counterforce of air resistance that slowed the rapidly moving mantis just enough for him to reach out and grab its spiked forearm.

The creature screeched, thrashing wildly as it swung its other forearm at him in an attempt to force him to let go, but Magruk’s grip tightened like a vice.

And then—he began beating the shit out of it.

Each punch landed with the force of a meteor, metal-clad fists crushing chitin, cracking exoskeleton, and sending green blood spraying with every blow.

At that moment, Orikar Jr. completed his fourth summon.

"Come forth, Lava Dragon!"

The magic circle before him surged with energy and a geyser of lava exploded from the centre, spewing molten rock with the force of a volcano. From within the inferno, a massive dragon began to emerge, its scales glowing like molten rock.

But before it could fully rise, a storm of shattered metal rained down upon it—the broken remnants of the armoured golem hurled like projectiles.

And then came the final piece.

The armoured golem’s sword, thrown by Vuzashi like a spear, cut through the air, coated in sword law energy to enhance its piercing power. The weapon drove straight through the dragon’s scales, stabbing deep into its side.

Blood sprayed as the dragon roared in fury, but before it could retaliate, Vuzashi followed right behind his attack.

His feet barely touched the ground before he launched himself forward, great sword in hand. The dragon, enraged, unleashed a stream of molten lava, but Vuzashi swung his blade down in response, releasing a crescent slash of sword law energy that split the lava breath in two, parting it like a curtain of fire.

Instantly reversing his grip, Vuzashi swung his sword upward, releasing another slash of energy that struck the dragon’s open maw before it could fire another breath.

The dragon’s head jerked back from the impact, leaving it momentarily stunned, and Vuzashi seized that moment.

He dashed to its side, swinging his sword horizontally with both hands. The slash tore through Orikar Jr.’s defensive shield and slammed into the dragon’s side, sending the massive beast flying out of the summoning magic circle.

As its body crashed through the battlefield, Vuzashi chased after it with a ferocious grin.

The moment the lava dragon hit the ground, he was already upon it, great sword swinging down with full force.

His blade tore through its red scales, splitting the flesh beneath and spilling searing-hot blood across the battlefield. The dragon roared in agony, flailing in an attempt to shake him off, but he didn’t let up for a second.

Another overhead strike slammed into the base of its wing, severing the appendage in a single cut. The dragon shrieked, its movements turning erratic as its detached wing hit the ground with a sickening thud,

"What’s wrong? Can’t fly anymore?"

Vuzashi taunted the dragon, raising his sword once more and bringing it down on the creature’s tail. His blade cleaved through the thick, lava-coated scales, hacking the appendage off with a force that sent magma and gore spraying into the air.

The dragonkin spectators in the stands paled, some turning away, unable to watch as their kin’s draconic form was systematically dismantled in the most brutal way possible.

Meanwhile, across the battlefield, Magruk was just as savage. The Devouring Mantis thrashed wildly in his grasp, its remaining scythe arm slashing at him, but Magruk simply coated his body with a layer of earth law energy that blocked the hit without a scratch.

He then proceeded to yank the mantis’ other arm off, spraying green blood everywhere.

And that’s when Vuzashi looked over at him, snorting.

[Why the hell are you even competing for a great sword when you fight with your fists just fine?]

Magruk instantly retorted.

[Shut the fuck up, you piece of regenerating meat, and focus on your own battle.]

Vuzashi’s brow twitched. [What kind of low-quality insult is that?]

Magruk snapped back. [The kind that works on dumbasses like you.]

And just like that, the two descended into an insult match—all while still beating the absolute hell out of their opponents.

Vuzashi sliced the dragon’s other wing clean off, while Magruk used the mantis’s own severed scythe arm to stab it through the thorax. Their bickering continued, but it was obvious to anyone watching that they weren’t even taking this fight seriously.
