Chapter 51: What Happened?!

Kale’s eyes flew open and he gasped for air amongst the smoke that surrounded him.

His breath drew long and heavy while the particles in the air stung his eyes.

Black spots filled his vision as he suffocated amidst the harmful gases.

He barely managed to see his watch on the ground a few meters from him.

Kale crawled and reached out, placing it on his wrist then tapping its surface.

The cold feel of his battle suit surrounded him.

[Beast Integration Activated]

A wave of fresh air hit Kale and he almost groaned as the black spots faded.

He looked to the sky and could still see the vague outline of Skywalker crashed into one of the mountains of the mountain chain they were in.

A pillar of smoke and ash left the beautiful marvel of technology that was the ship.

He could see faint blinking lights that indicated the still-working distress signal being sent.

Kale’s heart pounded against his ribcage.

"How did this happen? It wasn’t supposed to happen?!" His voice was wild.

A low growl rumbled behind him, and Kale immediately pulled out his sword and readied his stance as a two-headed horse came into view.

It had dull grey skin and a horn coming out from the space between its two heads.

The horse neighed and a rainbow made of different shades of blood appeared behind it.

One of its mouths opened and dropped the head of what Kale could only assume to be a human.

The beast took a step forward, crushing the skull under its hoof.

It snorted and charged at him. Kale swung his blade and it collided with its horn in a flurry of sparks.

________

One Month Earlier...

Kale, Ming, and Ian were in one of the training rooms on the ship.

It turned out that the ship was extremely fast, capable of traveling the entire world in less than a day.

The three were gathered in a circle, ready to show their powers.

Ian went first, his clothes and skin rippling, waves appearing on their surface.

Ming and Kale watched as Ian split into two versions of himself.

The two Ians were fully clothed and looked exactly the same.

"That’s my power." Both of them spoke.

"I can split my body in two and control each of them individually, but my energy in each is halved; it causes a lot of strain on my mind..." The Ians tapped their chins.

"... and we are weaker. Both physically and mentally." Ian finalized, fusing himself back into one.

Ming sat up, "Mine is quite complicated. I need your help to demonstrate it."

Ian shook his head no, he was far too tired.

Kale sighed and got up.

Ming raised both her fists," Attack me." Kale hesitated.

She smiled lightly, "Trust me."

Hearing her, Kale threw a fist. The blow cut through the air quickly but Ming dodged it effortlessly.

Kale continued to attack but Ming effortlessly evaded everything.

Putting his all, Kale tried to sweep her legs and she jumped into the air. Exactly as he wanted.

He attempted to kick her mid-air but she still dodged.

Kale threw another fist but Ming raised her hand to stop him.

"Notice anything?" She pointed to her eyes which were closed! She had avoided all his attacks with her eyes closed.

Ming sat back down opposite Ian and explained, "I call it advanced battle immunity. I can sense and dodge any attack, or better yet, they miss me."

Kale and Ian’s mouths went slack, "That’s overpowered!" Kale complained.

"She’s basically a goddess of the battlefield," Ian muttered and Ming’s ears burned red.

She shook her head, "If you’re too fast, too strong, or far too powerful, my power is useless and I can only hold it for so long. My current record is eight seconds."

The two boys nodded, that made more sense.

Ming and Ian turned to Kale, clearly awaiting his display.

He turned to them and scratched his neck, "I don’t know how to use it." He whispered but they heard him.

Ming hummed a bit, "It might be because you don’t know the beast yours came from. If you did, you’d have an idea of where to focus on training."

"No problem though," Ian said this time.

The three looked at one another in silence until Ming stood up.

"What do you say about a three-way battle?"

Ian and Kale looked at each other for a second before Kale stood.

He tapped on his watch and adorned his battle suit.

Ian stood and tapped on his belt. His suit spread over him and his warhammer formed in his hand.

Ming tapped on both her earrings and her suit covered her.

Looking at one another, they could tell the military had developed their new suits with several levels of care that their first ones didn’t have. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Ming brought out her knives and Kale his sword.

Ming’s shoes lit up, and she dashed to Kale.

He smiled and swung his sword at her. The weapon split into countless shards that flew toward her.

She used her beast infusion and the shards tilted slightly, only just avoiding causing her damage.

Kale smirked and jumped back as Ming swiped at him.

Her eyes were filled with excitement until her body moved by itself and dodged an incoming shard.

Ming’s body twisted to avoid the shards, and Kale quickly moved to Ian.

The latter planted his warhammer into the floor and released a shockwave that sent Kale flying.

He planted the part of the sword that had returned into the floor to slow his sliding.

Ming was already on him with a hammer kick.

Kale rolled away and threw part of the shards at her.

She hissed and jumped away, cursing his sword.

Ian and Ming slowly turned it from a three-way to a two-on-one battle.

Soon, the three of them were lying on the floor drenched in sweat and panting.

Their suits had long since come off and they were just resting.

’This is the moment my life will pick up!’ Kale celebrated in his mind.

Little did he know how wrong he was.
