Chapter 252: Chapter 240: Small in Stature, But Not in Courage (Second Update)

Tong Airui wobbled his way over to Yi Luowa, glanced at the Duoduo in her arms, and reached out to pinch his little nose. "You came straight to let your aunt hold you? Don’t you know she’s been so busy these past few days she’s only been sleeping in the middle of the night?"

Yi Luowa raised her eyes to look at him. If there were no one else present, she would’ve kicked him hard. How could he say such a thing out loud so shamelessly?

Little Raindrop quickly came over, wanting to hold Duoduo, but Duoduo clung to Yi Luowa’s neck with all his might, refusing to let go.

Yi Luowa shoved Tong Airui aside, patting Duoduo’s back as she said to Little Raindrop, "Sis, don’t listen to his nonsense. Sitting down and holding a baby isn’t tiring at all."

Little Raindrop helplessly glanced at her younger brother.

Tong Airui pouted, sat next to his wife, and immediately snatched Duoduo away. Just as Duoduo was about to cry, Tong Airui lifted him high above his head, tossing him playfully into the air.

This game was new to Duoduo. After an initial moment of surprise, he started giggling uncontrollably.

"You little rascal, you’re so heavy!" Tong Airui laughed while tossing him up again.

Yi Luowa watched Duoduo nervously. "Brother-in-law, be careful! Don’t drop him!"

"Got it," Tong Airui replied as he turned his head to see Second Baby tugging Jacques inside the room. He then finally set Duoduo down. The moment his feet hit the ground, Duoduo reached his arms out toward Yi Luowa again.

Tong Airui pulled him back and held him tightly in his arms. "Uncle will play with you again later."

Duoduo pouted, patting his large hand repeatedly.

Tong Airui motioned to Jacques with his lips, "Come here!"

Jacques darted over, giving Tong Airui a deep bow. "Hello, Fourth Uncle!"

Tong Airui lifted his foot and gave Jacques a light kick. "Kid, you’re not very big, but you’ve got guts, huh? I hear you’re planning to marry your aunt?"

Jacques blinked his purple eyes and turned to look at Tong Yao. Even as young as he was, he knew who his uncle was actually afraid of in this house.

Tong Airui tugged Jacques by the ear. "Looking at your grandma won’t help. Listen, kid. Let me tell you, don’t even think about pining for your aunt. Got it?"

"Got it," Jacques obediently nodded.

"Go on and play," Yi Luowa said gently, patting him on the head to stop Tong Airui from scolding him further.

Jacques rushed out much faster than he had come in, vanishing in a flash.

Tong Airui cast a dissatisfied glance at the dejected Monica, got up, and stuffed Duoduo into her arms.

"Is it that someone in this house owes you money? I walk in, and you immediately show me that face."

Monica sighed and recounted the situation with Jacques.

After hearing it, Tong Airui simply responded with an "Oh," and said nothing more.

Monica looked up and asked, "Aren’t you going to give me some advice?"

"You already have an answer. What’s the point of asking for my opinion?" Tong Airui gave her a disdainful look. "If you’ve already decided, don’t torment yourself over it. Watching you like this is making everyone else anxious too."

Tong Airui rubbed his shoulder. "There’s nothing much going on this morning. I spent the entire morning doing hard labor at the auto factory. I’m exhausted. I’m going to rest for a bit. Call me when it’s time to eat."

Tong Yao looked at her son with heartache. "Then go rest quickly. We’ll eat once your grandpa gets back. I think they’ll be home soon."

"Wifey, help me find a change of clothes upstairs, will you? I’m so tired right now that I don’t even want to move." As Tong Airui spoke, he dragged Yi Luowa upstairs with him. "Big Sis rarely comes back to visit. Why are you dragging me up here?" Yi Luowa squeezed his tightly gripping hand hard.

"What’s the point of sitting downstairs? To be a nanny?" Tong Airui cast an annoyed glance at her. "You were crying last night about this pain and that ache. Now that you’re home, you don’t even know how to take a proper rest. You’re just holding Duoduo, not saving any energy for tonight?"

"You pervert!" Yi Luowa rolled her eyes at him.

Tong Airui smirked and wisely chose not to say anything else. When the two reached the upstairs room, Fourth Master froze for a moment as he looked at their bedroom door. "Wifey, did I come to the wrong room?"

Yi Luowa exhaled deeply and pointed at their newly changed bedroom door, saying, "Dad remodeled your bedroom. Apparently, it’s soundproof."

Hearing this, Tong Airui laughed. "Dad really knows me best." Tong Airui looked at Tong Aino and Teng Ai Ni’s bedroom doors. "Is it just ours that got remodeled?"

"I don’t know," Yi Luowa replied, glancing at their doors as well. Seeing they hadn’t been touched, her small face instantly flushed. "Why is it just yours?"

"Because I’m the eldest son, hahaha..." Tong Airui said smugly, dragging Yi Luowa into the room and knocking on the newly-installed wall panel. "Wow, even this was soundproofed."

Yi Luowa pointed at the floor-to-ceiling windows. "Even the glass isn’t the same as before."

"Comprehensive renovation. Wifey, now you don’t have to hold back when you’re shouting." Tong Airui grinned, teasingly nibbling on her ear.

Yi Luowa glared at him in annoyance. "Which outfit do you want? I’ll help you find it."

"I can find it myself. You lie down and rest." Tong Airui nudged her onto the bed before heading to the wardrobe to grab a set of loungewear. Without hesitation, he started changing in front of her.

Yi Luowa glanced at him. "Can’t you be a little more discreet?"

"You’ve seen every part of me. What’s the point of me being discreet with you?"

"Tong Airui, if I’d known you were this shameless, I wouldn’t have agreed to marry you back then!"

"Who isn’t shameless? If no one were shameless, where would all the kids on the streets come from? Yi Luowa, I’m not kidding—you call me that again, and I’ll show you just how shameless I can be right now!" Tong Airui, half-undressed, approached her as he spoke.

Yi Luowa shoved him away forcefully. "Listen, I have something serious to say. Dad remodeled the bedroom. Doesn’t that strike you as significant?"

"Significant?" Tong Airui looked amused. She was always smart, always reading into things.

Yi Luowa hesitated, a little conflicted. "Dad just mentioned Ai Ni and You Jia being out all the time. Do you think the fact that I’ve been away for several days in a row has upset him?"

"Then from now on, when you don’t have classes in the afternoon, just go to the auto factory. If you do have classes, then I’ll come home to stay with you. As for the factory, don’t worry. Without you there, they’re more efficient—they complete the work you assign them in three days."

Yi Luowa pouted. "I guess that’s the only solution. But you don’t have to keep commuting. I can just come back on my own."

"No way! Wherever you are, I have to be there too." Tong Airui put on his clothes and gently pushed Yi Luowa back down. "Let me give you a massage."

"No need!" Yi Luowa clutched her collar warily.

Tong Airui chuckled and pulled her hands aside. "This time, it’s just a massage. No additional intentions."

Yi Luowa glanced anxiously at the bedroom door, still a bit uneasy. "My legs aren’t tired anymore. Really, there’s no need for a massage."

"You’re fine now? Good, because I’ll need you tonight. Don’t start crying later," Tong Airui quipped as he settled down beside her.

Yi Luowa flashed him a mischievous smile and, catching him off guard, kicked him off the bed.

Tong Airui lay on the carpet, looking up at her pitifully.

Yi Luowa leaned over the edge of the bed, giggling. "Since you like to use it so much, you can sleep on the floor from now on!"

In a swift move, Tong Airui grabbed her, pulling her off the bed into his arms. Holding her tightly, he declared, "Together."

Yi Luowa playfully smacked him. "Let me go! What if someone sees?"

"Anyone who wants to look can look." Tong Airui flipped her beneath him and captured her lips with his own.

While they were having their fun upstairs, the situation downstairs became a bit awkward.

Mi Chenshuo had returned and was now sitting silently across from Yan Zi.

Yan Zi looked at her son with worry. Her third son had lost weight, and a scruffy beard had taken over his chin. He looked listless and dispirited.

Mi Xiaotian spared him a glance and said with displeasure, "Follow me."

Mi Chenshuo stood and followed Mi Xiaotian into the study.

Mi Xiaotian looked at his son deeply, his tone full of disappointment. "Look at yourself. What have you become?"

"Dad..."

"Don’t call me Dad! I don’t have such a useless son!" Mi Xiaotian’s voice grew colder. "I used to think Xuanxuan was the one who wouldn’t amount to anything. But now I realize, the most useless one in this family is you. Look at Tong Airui. He’s a year younger than you and already so accomplished. Don’t you feel ashamed? Xuanxuan is even younger. Do you know how much praise I’ve received in just a few days since he joined the Godhawk squad? That once carefree kid is now their top team member!"

"..." Mi Chenshuo listened silently. His dad was right. In this family, he was indeed the most worthless. Beyond acting, there was nothing else he could do.

"I don’t expect you to reach Tong Airui’s level. Having one person in the family that outstanding is enough. After all, such achievements come at the cost of sweat, blood, and sometimes even one’s life. But I can’t accept you resigning yourself to mediocrity."

Mi Chenshuo’s heart ached as his father berated him. He kept his head low and continued listening.

"You’ve been at odds with your mom all this time over Su Qing. When I came over today, I asked her again what exactly she said to Su Qing that made her leave you so decisively. She repeated everything to me, and it was the same as what she told you—not a single harsh word, just asking her to weigh her decision."

Mi Chenshuo lifted his eyes to his father. "I’ll get to the bottom of this."

Mi Xiaotian’s tone grew sharp. "What bottom? Are you planning to investigate your own mother?"

"No." Mi Chenshuo clenched his fists and said firmly, "Dad, please trust me. I won’t keep going like this. But this situation has indeed thrown me off balance. Once I get everything sorted, I’ll get back to work. I know I’ll never be someone like Tong Airui in this lifetime, but at the very least, I’ll carry the responsibilities that are mine."

"I hope you remember what you’ve said today!" Mi Xiaotian snorted coldly. "And for the record, I don’t approve of you being with Su Qing either. But if you choose to persist, I won’t stop you."

Mi Chenshuo frowned slightly as he gazed out the window. "Even if I wanted to be with her, I’d need to find her first. She’s disappeared from my world once again."

Mi Xiaotian was momentarily stunned, then said in a calm voice, "Go on. And when you leave, say something to your mother. She’s been so worried about you these past few days that she hasn’t slept a single night peacefully."

Mi Chenshuo nodded and followed his father out of the study.
