Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 259 - 247: Persuaded Someone to Leave (Third Update)
Tong Yao’s head buzzed. The only one who could anger Connie enough to shout was her precious youngest son.
Tong Airui frowned slightly, put down the jewelry box, and left the room.
Yi Luowa and Tong Yao followed him out.
Tong Aino saw his mom and his brother and sister-in-law coming out. He kicked at Connie’s door and walked over, saying, "I’ll send her back to Laman tomorrow, and from now on, she’s not allowed to set foot in our house again!"
"If you’re going to send her off, do it now!" Tong Airui gave him a cold glance. "You spend every day stirring up trouble without doing anything meaningful. Do you even realize that this behavior makes Mom worry about you?"
Yi Luowa almost burst out laughing at his self-righteous speech. Oh, now he understood.
Tong Yao reached out and pinched Tong Aino’s arm. "What did you do to make Connie this angry?"
Tong Aino rubbed his arm with an innocent look. "I didn’t do anything! She’s just throwing a tantrum on her own!"
Connie pushed the door open and came out, holding a torn ledger split in two. "And you dare say you did nothing!"
The people upstairs and downstairs all shouted out. Everyone stared at the ledger in Connie’s hand and turned their questioning eyes to Tong Aino’s face.
Tong Aino straightened his posture. "Well, who told you to get on my nerves first?"
Long Che walked over with a grim expression. "Everyone in this house annoys you, don’t they? Look at your behavior—you can’t even say one decent thing! Besides bullying Connie, can you do anything worthwhile? If you keep this up, if you won’t send Connie away, I will."
Connie froze, hurriedly lowering her head.
Tong Aino shot her a glance from the corner of his eye. "Fine, send her away then..."
Long Che raised his leg and kicked him. "You brought her here, and if she’s leaving, you owe her an explanation. Go and explain to Qiao Xi!"
"You little brat! Neither of you needs to send her off or explain. Once I get back, I’ll take Connie with me!" Teng Tianxiang glared at his grandson, snorted, and stubbornly headed downstairs.
Connie bit her lip and walked over. "Aunt Tong, Uncle Tong, please don’t be angry. I was at fault too. Tong Aino asked me to help with his clothes, but I was busy looking at the ledger and didn’t help..."
Long Che shot a cold glance at Tong Aino. "Don’t you have your own hands? Or is there no servant in this house?"
Mi Chenshuo walked over with an impassive expression and said, "Connie, I’ll check those ledgers myself. You should rest."
"No way! There are so many ledgers. How long would it take you to check them all alone?"
"Don’t let me affect your relationship." Mi Chenshuo smiled and reached for the ledger in Connie’s hand. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Connie quickly tucked the ledger behind her back. "Third Brother, you just saw it. What relationship could there possibly be between us? He only sees me as a toy to tease when he’s happy. When he’s not, he just looks for ways to upset me. I have to finish checking these ledgers for you."
Tong Aino glanced at Connie with displeasure. His lips moved, but just as he was about to speak, he was silenced by one look from Long Che.
Connie steadied her emotions and looked at Tong Aino. "Boss, I’m officially tendering my resignation now. I want to end my internship early. After attending the two banquets, I will go back to my country."
Tong Aino panicked. "Zhuoyuan isn’t a place where you can come and go as you please! You want to end your internship early? If I don’t sign off, I’d like to see how you graduate!"
Connie smiled faintly. "That diploma really isn’t that important to me."
Connie was serious this time!
Yi Luowa realized the gravity of the situation and said to everyone, "Everyone’s tired today. Let’s all go rest. I’ll stay with Connie for a while."
Saying that, Yi Luowa pulled Connie into a bedroom and, as soon as they entered, asked, "Were you just saying that to provoke Tong Aino? Or were you trying to scare him?"
"Neither. I meant it. He goes hot and cold with me, which I can handle. But his pettiness, I absolutely cannot stand. And did you hear what he said earlier? He clearly can’t wait to see me leave."
Connie held up the damaged ledger for Yi Luowa to see. "Third Brother is his own blood brother, and I was helping Third Brother with something, but he still made a big fuss about it."
Yi Luowa’s lip twitched. "So, Old Five’s upset with you over Third Brother’s matter?"
Connie caught the nuance and stared at Yi Luowa. "You said ’also.’ Does that mean Fourth Brother has also acted petty with you too?"
"Yeah." Yi Luowa pursed her lips. "Even though he’s closest to Third Brother, when he saw Third Brother visiting me at school, he threw a fit too."
"And how did you handle it? I never saw you two arguing."
"I punched him. After that, he behaved himself."
Connie’s eyes widened. "You punched Fourth Brother? And he let you?"
Yi Luowa mimicked Tong Airui’s posture when he got hit, hugging her head for Connie to see. "He just sat like this and let me punch him however I wanted."
Connie burst out laughing. "Haha... Luowa, I’m really jealous of you! Fourth Brother must really love you!"
Yi Luowa hugged Connie’s shoulders to comfort her. "You’re laughing now, so stop being mad. Seriously, men can be even more irrational than us when they’re petty. But if you think about it, the reason they’re like this is because they care. Otherwise, they wouldn’t behave like this."
"Fourth Brother cares about you. Tong Aino doesn’t care about me!" Connie shook her head, eyes on the ledger in her hands.
"I swear, Old Five is the worst. What was the point of tearing up a good ledger?"
"After dinner, Third Brother came to my room to tell me which parts to focus on. As soon as he left, Tong Aino was at my door, yelling sarcastically and telling me to tidy up his clothes. When I said I didn’t have time, he stormed in and ripped up the ledger."
Connie was so upset she couldn’t continue talking. She placed the ledger on the table and said to Yi Luowa, "I’m fine. You can go now. I’m getting to work. After attending Ai Ni’s engagement party, I’m going back to Laman. I really can’t tolerate such a petty man anymore."
"Alright, I support you. He needs to be taught a lesson; otherwise, he’ll never learn. Tomorrow, don’t go to work. Just stay home." Yi Luowa patted Connie’s shoulder. "Going back to Laman is a good idea. You’ve been away for so long; it’s time to visit home. But you can’t just run off without a word. If not for Old Five, then for my sake, you have to stay a bit longer, okay?"
Connie laughed, "You’re too pretty. Should I stay for you?"
Yi Luowa pouted. "I don’t care. If you go back to Laman and never return, I’ll chase you all the way to your house!"
"Sounds great. I’ll have company!" Connie laughed as she pushed Yi Luowa toward the door. "Hurry and go. Otherwise, Fourth Brother will come knocking soon."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips and left the room, looking back with every step.
At this moment, Tong Airui was sulking in bed. When he saw her come back, he listlessly lifted the blanket. "Come on, let’s rest."
Yi Luowa looked at him suspiciously. "You’re sulking again? With me?"
"Why would I sulk with you?" Tong Airui sat up. "Did you manage to calm Connie down?"
"Nope, I made it worse. Connie said after Ai Ni’s engagement party, she’s going back to Laman and never returning." Yi Luowa climbed into bed angrily. "Honestly, Old Five has such a knack for saying the wrong thing. If it were me, I would’ve smacked him eight hundred times by now!"
Tong Airui gave her a sidelong glance. "Big words from you! I’m the only one willing to let you smack me. Try it with anyone else!"
Yi Luowa giggled and hooked her arm around his neck. "That’s why you’re the best!"
"I must’ve owed you in a past life. I have no choice but to be good to you." Tong Airui’s face softened into a smile.
Yi Luowa teased, "Oh, not sulking anymore?"
"Sulking. Who said I wasn’t? I’m so mad my liver hurts!" Tong Airui sighed deeply. "Old Five is such a stubborn fool. He made Connie want to leave and even offended Third Brother. Earlier, I kicked him twice, and now he’s running around helping Third Brother check the ledgers. I just don’t get what he’s after."
Yi Luowa rolled her eyes. "You know exactly what he’s after! Weren’t you just being petty too? You all like to bicker, but in the end, you just feel bad for Third Brother."
Tong Airui gave her a look of exasperation.
Yi Luowa huffed. "I know I hit the nail on the head! Glaring at me won’t change the truth."
"I can’t argue with you. Let’s sleep!"
"I haven’t showered yet." Yi Luowa nudged his leg with her foot as he lay down.
Tong Airui laughed. "I don’t mind."
Yi Luowa pouted, "But I mind! I’ve been on my feet all day, and I’m all sweaty."
Tong Airui got out of bed. "Alright, I’ll go run you a bath. I thought you were too tired and wanted to skip it."
Yi Luowa sat on the bed, giggling. "I didn’t ask you to do it for me."
"Guess I’m just destined to toil." Tong Airui chuckled as he walked into the bathroom.
Yi Luowa called out loudly, "Airui, I love you so much!"
While running the water, Tong Airui shook his head with a smile.
After their baths, the two engaged in some activities not suitable for children, and in the middle of the night, Yi Luowa woke up hungry.
As she stirred, Tong Airui opened his eyes instantly. "What’s wrong? Stomachache?"
Yi Luowa rubbed her stomach pitifully. "I’m hungry. My stomach’s growling."
"What do you want to eat? I’ll go get it."
"Forget it. If someone sees, it’ll be embarrassing. I’ll just bear with it."
"No point in suffering." Tong Airui threw off the blanket and got out of bed. "If anyone sees, I’ll tell them it was for me. A milkshake and burger okay?"
"Okay, just be quiet."
Tong Airui nodded and left the room.
As soon as he stepped out, Tong Aino was coming up the stairs with a tray. He paused when he saw his older brother.
Tong Airui crossed his arms and smirked. "You’re such a thoughtful brother, bringing me a midnight snack. Truly my flesh and blood."
Tong Aino stopped and frowned. "It’s not for you. If you’re hungry, get it yourself."
"For Connie?" Tong Airui grinned and walked past him. "I’d bet anything you won’t even get her to open her door for you."
