Zou Fang’s face twisted in utter despair, his body trembling uncontrollably as his knees buckled beneath him.

His cries echoed through the forest, raw and desperate, as if the weight of the world had just been placed upon his shoulders.

"No! No! No! I can’t go there! I can’t! I don’t want to die! Do you know what happens to people who enter demonic sects?! It’s a life of endless torment, suffering, and betrayal! I refuse! I refuse to live like that!"

His wailing continued, each sob growing more hysterical, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he shook his head wildly.

Tears streamed down Zou Fang’s face as he gripped his own clothes tightly, his nails digging into his flesh as he continued his rant.

"The life of a demonic cultivator is hell itself! You are constantly hunted by righteous sects! There is no place to call home! No rest! No safety! You live in the shadows, running from one massacre to the next!

"Even your so-called allies will turn against you for power! Your own master might sacrifice you for their cultivation! The demonic path is filled with nothing but backstabbing, pain, and madness!"

He collapsed onto the ground, his body heaving as his voice cracked under the strain of his own hysteria.

"You’re forced to cultivate with blood! You can’t trust anyone! You have to kill and kill just to survive! And even then, there is no guarantee you’ll live! Because one day, a righteous cultivator will find you, and that will be the end! No mercy! No trial! Just death!

"A brutal, painful, horrible death! You’ll be torn apart and left to rot like a worthless beast! I don’t want that! I can’t live like that!"

Red’Ribbon scoffed, folding his arms as he glanced down at Zou Fang, unimpressed. "Are you done?"

"No! You don’t understand! You don’t understand!" Zou Fang howled. "I’ve met demonic cultivators before! Do you know what they told me?! They wish they were never born! That’s how bad it is!

"Imagine living every day in constant paranoia, knowing that one mistake means you’ll be hunted down like an animal!

"Imagine watching your fellow disciples betray each other, poison each other, just for a slight advantage in cultivation!

"Imagine the nightmares of hearing your sect members screaming in agony as they are used as materials for experiments! Imagine knowing that every person you meet might kill you just to take your demonic essence for themselves!

"Do you think you can survive that kind of life?! Because I can’t! I can’t do it! I refuse to do it!"

His hands clenched into fists, his nails digging so deep into his palms that blood began to seep out.

"And if we somehow survive, do you know what happens when the righteous sects catch us? Do you?! We don’t get a quick death!

"No, they make sure we suffer! They hang demonic cultivators upside down and let them bleed out slowly! They set our bodies on fire while we’re still alive!

"They skin us alive! They rip out our souls and seal them inside tormented artifacts where we scream for eternity! I’d rather throw myself off a cliff than become a demonic cultivator! I’d rather gouge out my own eyes than step foot in a demonic sect!"

Wei Long and Red’Ribbon exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable.

Zou Fang’s breath came in short, shallow gasps as he stared at them, waiting for their response. But instead of sympathy, all he saw was cold determination.

Red’Ribbon spoke first, his voice laced with impatience. "You don’t have a choice."

Wei Long nodded in agreement. "We must go now."

Zou Fang’s body went rigid, his eyes widening in sheer horror. "No! No! No! Please, listen to me! There has to be another way! Anything but this! Please, I’ll do anything! Just don’t make me go there!"

He wracked his brain desperately, searching for any possible alternative. And then, suddenly, an idea struck him. His head snapped up, his eyes wild with hope. "Wait! Wait! Stop! I have a better idea!"

Wei Long and Red’Ribbon paused, their gazes narrowing slightly in suspicion.

Zou Fang hurriedly scrambled to his feet, his voice trembling with urgency.

"Why don’t we go to a righteous sect instead? Like the Autumn Dragon Sect! That’s where we are now, right? They always hunt demonic sects! If we join a righteous sect, we’ll have access to demonic artifacts much more easily!

"We can let the righteous cultivators do all the work for us! Think about it! They already track down demonic sects and exterminate them!

"If we’re part of a righteous sect, we can get our hands on demonic orbs without putting ourselves in danger! It’s the safest and fastest way!"

Wei Long’s eyes flickered with consideration. "Go on."

Zou Fang’s desperation fueled his words, and he began listing the benefits rapidly.

"First, righteous sects have resources! They have safe cultivation grounds! We won’t have to live like rats hiding in the shadows!

"Second, righteous sects are powerful! If we’re part of one, we don’t have to worry about being hunted all the time! Third, righteous sects provide stability! We’ll have a place to stay! We won’t have to constantly run!

"Fourth, they have teachers! We can get stronger without needing to kill endlessly like demonic cultivators do! And most importantly—"

he took a deep breath, his eyes gleaming with desperation, "—we won’t have to torture and kill innocent beasts just to create a demonic orb! We can just take them from the demonic cultivators the righteous sects kill! It’s the perfect solution!"

Wei Long and Red’Ribbon looked at each other, weighing the argument.

"So?" Zou Fang pressed, his heart pounding. "What do you think? Doesn’t this make more sense? Doesn’t this sound like a better plan?"

A long silence followed. Then, finally, Wei Long gave a slow nod. "Alright."

Red’Ribbon sighed but also nodded. "Fine."

Zou Fang nearly collapsed from relief, his legs weak beneath him. A breathless, shaky laugh escaped his lips. "Thank heavens…"

He wiped the sweat from his forehead, his hands still trembling. But despite his exhaustion, he wasn’t taking any chances.

He straightened up and launched into another speech, determined to keep them convinced.

"You won’t regret this! Trust me! Righteous sects are amazing! They have massive libraries filled with knowledge! They have powerful elders who can teach us things we’d never learn in the wild!

"They have alchemists who can refine miraculous pills that can help us grow stronger faster! They have legendary weapons! The tournaments! The sect missions!

"The prestige! Everything is better in a righteous sect! And the best part? We won’t have to be paranoid about being backstabbed every second of the day!"

He nodded to himself, his voice growing steadier as he continued listing more and more advantages.

The longer he spoke, the more excited he became. "And don’t even get me started on the sect competitions! They’re legendary! Imagine proving yourself in front of thousands of cultivators! Imagine earning titles and respect! Imagine the grand halls, the spiritual springs, the divine treasures—"

Wei Long merely nodded again, cutting him off. "Alright, we get it."

Zou Fang grinned. "So it’s settled then! We’re going to a righteous sect!"

Wei Long simply nodded once more.

And with that, their path was decided.
