Chapter 373: Chapter 27: Divine Artifact—Vessel of Greed! The Mad Wind Elemental Demigod

Black Tower.

On the spiraling obsidian staircase, a shadowy figure cloaked in gray advanced slowly. The Indestructible Bright Flames lit up one by one along the way, casting a faint light that illuminated the surrounding darkness. The figure paused at the heavy door, her fallen hood revealing a radiant profile as a pale hand gently pressed against the door. The six-meter-tall door opened slowly, and she stepped into the spacious hall, lowering her head and respectfully kneeling, saying: "Father."

The flames in the hall suddenly flickered, and a black whirlwind swirled atop the dome above, circling the woman, it whispered strange murmurs, and finally surged toward the throne.

On the throne.

A rotund figure slowly lifted his head. His aged face was covered with dark brown spots, resembling age spots or perhaps corpse spots emerging. His sagging skin hung to his jaw, and beneath his thick neck lay layers of fat—his vast throne barely able to hold his body, with his stomach hanging on both sides, skin pale and bloodless, bearing many deep and shallow age spots.

This elderly figure held a bizarre blue-green ceramic vessel imprinted with an exaggerated smile—not a human face but the face of a Divine Monster. He slowly opened his eyes upon hearing her, looking down at the woman kneeling in the empty hall, speaking lazily: "Ah, it’s Mia."

"What is the matter?"

The woman kneeling before the throne bowed her head, saying: "Today, someone named Vine Clark came to the Ring City."

Hmm?

Upon hearing his daughter’s words, the rotund elderly man on the throne arduously sat upright, his gaze haunting, speaking in a deep voice: "Does the Clark Clan still have a direct heir?"

Mia shook her head: "There shouldn’t be any left."

"But he is an ascending Transcendent; he probably wants to reclaim the ancient artifact his ancestors left behind."

The rotund elderly man on the throne gave a strange laugh and said indifferently: "If he wants it, then take him to the Gate of Silence, since it hasn’t had its fill yet."

The woman kowtowing on the ground respectfully replied: "Yes. Father."

The rotund, elderly figure sat upright, his gaze hauntingly fixing on the woman below, speaking in a deep voice: "Have you not apprehended the few escaped ones from the Crow’s Nest?"

Mia’s figure trembled slightly, her expression fearful as she replied: "Father."

"They seem to possess some sort of special Sealed Object, preventing us from using Prophetic Skills to pinpoint their location."

The elderly figure erupted angrily: "Worthless!"

"Dispose of them swiftly; my Ascension Ritual must not encounter any setbacks!" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Mia trembled, bowing her head low, her voice fearful: "Yes. Father."

On the throne, the elderly figure reclined once more, his corpulent body sinking into the chair, holding that blue-green ceramic vessel, caressing it softly, saying: "Dismiss."

"Yes." The woman rose respectfully and exited the hall.

As the heavy door closed, a faint cold glint flashed in her eyes, all traces of initial respect and fear gone.

"The old fool is almost out of patience!..."

An intermittent whisper rose directly in Mia’s mind, sounding somewhat gloating: "I can feel his Life, soul, and body are decaying."

"He is desperate for ascension, even willing to sacrifice the lambs of this land."

"It is time for you to act."

Mia’s gaze turned haunting as she moved towards the black staircase. Under her tall figure, her shadow formed into a mist shape, her cold response echoing in her mind: "But the Vessel of Greed is still in his hands; we stand no chance."

The eerie whisper resumed: "Inside lies a sealed, mad Wind Giant Spirit Demigod—not a true one of the old."

"Have you become frightened by the old fool?"

"Is it because he killed his three sons in one day? Are you afraid he will drain your bloodline Power as well?"

"You have obeyed him too long, almost losing the Courage to resist."

Mia’s expression carried a trace of anger as she whispered: "Shut up. If you want to make a move, then send someone."

"Where is your master?"

"Why not confront the old man directly? Is he also afraid of the Vessel of Greed’s Power?"

The eerie whisper chuckled softly, whispering: "The master will come, but not now; he has more important matters to attend to."

Mia was silent for a good while, then slowly said: "You’re waiting for the Dark Blood Sacrifice, aren’t you?"

"Waiting for the old fool to lose control of his greed, to sacrifice his people to initiate the Ascension Ritual, then you will come to reap all the rewards."

"You desire everything here but don’t dare to bear the consequences."

Her shadow twisted into black fog, eventually forming a ghostly shape that whispered into her ear: "Aren’t you the same, Lady Mia?"

"Your ambition; I can smell it with my eyes closed. Why have you remained unharmed while he’s killed so many offspring?"

"Don’t tell me you are forced?"

"We will take what is ours."

"According to the pact, you will inherit the right to rule this land; you will become the new sovereign."

Mia took a deep breath, suppressing her anger as she spoke: "But this differs from our initial pact. Once the Dark Blood Sacrifice begins, this land will be left with nothing but corpses."
