Chapter 476: Chapter 62: Crusade Against the Old Ones! (Part 2)

A sound akin to the cawing of crows pierced the air.

Shawn’s eyes turned to the distant tree house, where he saw a fledgling raven creature emerging under the careful guidance of two Druids. It didn’t seem like a polluted mutant but rather a completely normal, intelligent being.

"Is this also the effect of the ritual?" Shawn’s expression was one of utter shock.

Though he could rectify spirit pollution, he had never been able to correct flesh mutations. It appeared that the Great Druids on the Path of Nature had the ability to repair flesh mutations.

The powers of the Path of Nature and the Path of Life are intertwined, as the laws of the Life Domain are largely held by the Path of Nature.

— "Gale! Hear my command!"

Shawn sensed the fluctuations of magic, and his figure instantly flashed, appearing toward the direction of the lake. There, he saw owl creatures circling in the sky. They resembled harpies somewhat, with bird-like claws for feet, capable of using unique foot bows.

The owl creatures possess a distinct racial talent, their ancestors having forged pacts with wind elements during the Ancient Era. This pact, known as ’The Covenant of the Lord of the Wind’, allows owl casters to gain an additional +1 caster level when casting spells described as [Air].

"Has Supreme Cliff been reclaimed as well?"

Shawn looked at the owl creatures circling in the sky not far away. Most of them appeared youthful, with remnants of flesh pollution on their bodies, but their mutant life forms had been restored. Guiding them was a Legendary Sky Lord, a Great Druid from the raptor faction.

The hidden strength of the Path of Nature was greater than Shawn had anticipated. Just around the Black Forest, he discerned the presence of seven Legendary Powerhouses.

A King of Beasts, a Sky Lord, two Legendary Barbarians, and several Nature Series Powerhouses who could not be clearly perceived with just their clones.

A rumbling sound of footsteps arose.

In the direction of the Circle of Nature, dozens of High Tier Druids opened the Forest Gate. Most were Druids who had once slept in the Dream Forest, capable of dream slumber only upon mastering the ability of immortality. Inside the opened Forest Gate, Shawn saw Ancient Tree Guardians towering over ten meters high.

"Has the War Ancient Tree also been sent forth?"

The growth cycle of tree folk is extremely lengthy. An awakened tree folk requires at least a hundred years to develop combat capability, and several hundred years to achieve the status of a Legendary creature. It’s far more troublesome to cultivate a Legendary Ancient Tree Guardian than to rear a Giant Dragon. Unless it’s at the most critical juncture, tree folk are rarely sent to the battlefield, as their movement speed is too slow, making them only suitable for sieges.

The countdown to the assault on the Master of the Swamp, Mendor, has already begun.

Shawn lingered for a moment outside the Druid camp of the Circle of Nature before swiftly flying toward the Soul Summoning Tower located several tens of kilometers away.

The Path of Nature has committed wholeheartedly, so the Path of Death naturally won’t stand idly by.

A breeze carried the scent of preservatives.

At the boundary of the Holy Residence established by the Path of Nature, there lay a clearly polluted land, different from the contamination of the Poison Gas Swamp. This was the Land of Desecration, also known as the ’Evil Residence’.

The air was filled with a hint of decay.

The rivers here seemed soaked in preservatives, exuding a pungent formalin smell. When Shawn landed, an indistinct ghostly silhouette appeared, staring at Shawn and saying, "This is the domain of the deceased."

"Visitors, please present your token."

— Earth-bound Spirit (Challenge Level 12)!

Shawn hadn’t expected the Undead Wizards to even summon Earth-bound Spirits. He let a Death Badge float from his palm, and the ghost quickly bowed respectfully and dissipated.

The entire area beneath the Soul Summoning Tower had been transformed into an enormous underground tomb. Shawn saw numerous mummies, identical to those he had first seen upon revival. Flesh golems guarding the vicinity of the high walls had also been stationed here, densely packed within the darkness of the underground tomb.

— Flesh Puppet, Skeleton Golem, Mummy Guard.

Directly beneath the Soul Summoning Tower was an enormous dragon skull, resembling the remains of an Ancient Giant Dragon. Its meandering body stretched over a hundred meters, with a wingspan around fifty meters. The dragon’s bones already had the semblance of fossils, and it was unknown where the Undead Wizards had unearthed it from.

"The big shots haven’t arrived."

The Soul Summoning Tower is presided over by the Undead Wizard Sandor, assisted by three other Legendary-level Undead Wizards, including one who had transformed into a Witch Demon.

The number of Witch Demons on the Path of Death was indeed large.

Just by wandering around the Soul Summoning Tower, Shawn sensed the presence of several Witch Demons, and even those not transformed into Witch Demons had turned into Corpse Witch forms, using undead will to counter various types of pollution.

Within the forward fortress of Abyss City, a magnificent black Gate of the Abyss opened.

Led by the Six-armed Snake Demon Lord, Ishbel, with over a dozen High Tier Demons in tow. In this battle, the Demon Legion took the lead, with the elite devils of Abyss City responsible for breaking through defenses. The Seven Evil Guards of Abyss City hadn’t arrived, indicating this was merely a skirmish on the periphery.

The entire Poison Gas Swamp had already been cultivated by the Ancient beings into an Earthly Divine Kingdom belonging to them. This expansive swamp area teemed with evil objects, ancient races, and offspring of the Ancients.

"Attacking head-on is as difficult as assaulting the Divine Kingdom of a weak divine spirit."

Among the Ancients, the strength of the Swamp Master, Mendor, was not considered very strong. He was one of the newly risen Ancients with no allies, yet his pollution of the Material Plane was severe. Humanity could not return to the Material Plane without resolving his presence; otherwise, they could never purify the entire planet’s atmosphere.

Time passed quietly over half a month.

Just as Shawn was busy testing the Elemental Melting Furnace, the horn to counterattack the Material Plane within the Realm of Reality sounded.

He felt his teacher’s call, and immediately opened a Teleportation Gate to reach the Soul Summoning Tower.

At an altitude of a thousand meters, Shawn gazed upon the grand assemblage of mutant creatures, mostly natives living in the swamp area, with their flesh twisted into creations. Among them mingled all sorts of indescribable mutants, including two to three-meter-tall crocodile humans, one of the ancient races. They possessed murky, dark yellow eyes, were bloodthirsty and brutal, and beneath their gray-black skin lay festering wounds from flesh mutation. When ruptured, they sprayed venom around them. Positioned at their jaws were two toad-like lumps, allowing them to spew acidic venom like Black Dragons.

One by one, banshee silhouettes emerged.

They appeared above the enemy, followed by a series of such wailing cries echoing.

— Banshee’s Wail (9th Circle Spell).

Dozens of undead wizards from the Path of Death simultaneously acted, and waves of banshee’s wails swept the battlefield. As far as the eye could see, tens of thousands of mutant monsters perished instantly, creating a field of corpses with blood flowing from seven orifices.

Instant Death Spell washed the ground.

The Transcendents of the Path of Death attacked from the right side of the battlefield. Their offensive was so daunting that even the demons dared not approach, due to the prevalence of techniques like the Death Cloud Technique, Cloud Burning Skill, and Withering Death Technique. The battle had just begun, yet the amassed forces of the Ancient race were obliterated, capturing the monster’s main base.

— Undead Scourge!

— Soul Nova!

— Death Badge!

In the sky over the battlefield, rays akin to blood-red lightning streaked through. This was the signature spell of the Necromancy School, the 7th Circle’s Death Finger, specifically targeting Legendary Monsters that survived the first wave of spell washing.

Shawn hadn’t even acted; other Transcendents of the Path of Death had already charged forward, piercing through the forces of the Ancient race within mere minutes.
