Chapter 455: November was a good month

November passed quickly, coming into the holiday season. It was so strange for Andrew to think that it was only last December and November he was thinking about engagement rings and what Maxwell would like.

Now he was well enmeshed with Maxwell’s family, and Maxwell was enmeshed with his own. It actually made Andrew very proud to say that he had his own family.

Of course he had the Gates. A family that would not let Andrew go, even if he left them. Now Rose teased him for missing her wedding, and even Jordan would place a few well placed jabs when Andrew wasn’t watching. He was just as bad as Rose, which was something he was delighted to learn.

May and Ford had clawed their time back with Andrew and now that he was back? Andrew was certain that they would hunt him down if he disappeared on them again. Andrew also knew that they would have every right to. And Richard? He would help them. He would use his connections to find him. Andrew couldn’t imagine a world where he did something cruel or hateful enough that they would all turn their back on him.

He was pretty sure he could murder someone and they would ask what the other person did first before they would get angry at him. They would not cut him off though.

That was also where his ’newer’ family came in. The Becketts would solve the issue of the murder by just making sure that Andrew never got caught in the first place. Luis and Thomas were lovely. They cared about Andrew so much that it almost worried him. Then they would get drunk and rave about how happy Andrew made Maxwell and it all became clear.

They loved Andrew for how much he loved their son, and that was enough for Andrew. They also threw in some other things, like how they were slowly squeezing the life out of Andrew’s old company and his father’s family.

Slowly the Abraham family name was being spoken of in hushed tones. Any party where the Beckett’s were invited? They were not. If Luis was invited to an event, the Abraham family would be forced out.

And Luis was making the rounds.

While she had been focused on her fashion before, she now was making sure her name was known, and that her omega son was getting married, keeping his job and running his company. She also made sure that everyone knew he was getting married to a sweet true alpha boy with no family ties.

Honestly, Andrew was pretty sure that last part was the part that hurt the Abraham family the most. Luis was making it so that they didn’t even have a leg to stand on when it came to claiming him.

Thomas had invited him out golfing with his friends, showing off Andrew to everyone around them. Ben was also making sure that everyone knew that he loved his new brother-in-law. It was sweet how the whole family was accepting him.

Even Will, in his own way. He was just so deep in his own shit that he wasn’t around as often, but Andrew could tell he approved of his relationship with his brother, even if he was bitter about it.

The Proctors, the ones who mattered, made sure that Andrew had no doubt about their affection for him. Both of the kids got closer to Andrew after Leonardo awakened, and it was made even better because they lived close to each other. Often, when Andrew and Maxwell would get home from work, they would only have a few minutes before little knocks sounded at the door and the siblings were there to harass the couple for attention and food.

The siblings didn’t want to tell Jenny, but Andrew was a better cook. Andrew would take that to his grave since he cared about Jenny so much.

Kim had truly limited her contact with her family after how they had treated Andrew, her own kids, and Jenny’s snapping of her last straw. They were also suffering since she had been their quiet face of the family.

Kim had even been quietly talking about changing her last name, truly cutting all ties with them. Andrew’s Mom had truly set her up so that it would be a clean break, as if she had always known that it would come to this point. Honestly, Andrew felt that it should have happened a while ago, as did Jenny, but Kim was a good person.

She had had hope for them to change in some capacity, plus her own trauma at their hands. Andrew didn’t even want to think about Kim being in that nightmare room. Jenny clearly got teary every time it was brought up in whispers.

Jenny. Sweet sweet Jenny was just so much softer after she beat up her in-laws. Like a looming shadow that had always plagued her was finally gone. She smiled more, and Andrew could feel that she meant it. Even when she fought Thomas for the rights to Andrew and Maxwell’s time over the holidays her attitude was different. Kim was grateful for it. She was so happy to see a change in her wife.

Then there were Amir and his grandparents, and Mr. Dalton and his family. Andrew normally would consider Amir with Ben and the Beckett’s but he felt that it was only right to consider him separately when he was also thinking about his grandparents.

They were so lovely and had taken Andrew in in a way that he would never be able to thank them properly for. It was clear to him how much they truly cared for him when they had arrived back in the country and had gone to Andrew’s house second, after seeing Amir and Mehar, their great granddaughter.

They had brought Andrew food, spices, and clothing. They had even made him try it on, making sure it fit. It was all traditional clothing, and they had both told him it was for when he came to visit them back home. As if that was a perfectly normal thing to say. Andrew had felt his eyes water then, and it only got worse when they stayed over and taught Andrew how to make traditional dishes as well.

Andrew was a mess by the time that Maxwell had stepped into the fragrant smelling house and he’d had to comfort his poor fiancé.

Andrew was still being teased for that one.

Mr. Dalton and his family weren’t much different, honestly. Andrew and Maxwell had upheld their end of the bargain from when Maxwell had asked a favour for his engagement. They had the couple over for dinner, and while it had felt a little stiff, it wasn’t awkward. It was just...different cultures. It felt a bit like when Andrew had dinner the first time with Maxwell’s family.

Slowly, they had opened up to each other, and it only got better as Andrew kept extending an invitation to the monthly family dinners to them. They didn’t always come, and didn’t in the beginning, but slowly they began to show their faces.

Once, Mrs. Dalton, Aster, came without Mr. Dalton and that was when Andrew knew that they were truly warming up to them. Aster also confided in Andrew, after a few drinks, that they thought they were just being polite. Out of obligation to Andrew’s Mom, but Andrew proved that wasn’t the case.

The Dalton’s weren’t used to people being genuinely interested in them as people, and instead interested in them as investors. Mrs. Dalton had said it was just like Andrew that he would care about them as people. Even when his Mom had been looking for an investor because she was desperate, she had hesitated reaching out to them. She knew it would shift their relationship, and she hadn’t wanted to do that.

It was said with affection, a kindness in his eyes, and Mr. Dalton joined him the next month.

Andrew was proud of the little family he was building for himself. He knew his Mom would be proud of him for what he was doing. He also knew from the people who spoke of her that she had done the exact same thing, so it was a slightly bittersweet realisation.

He was just like his Mom, and he was sure that she was looking down on him and noticing that as well.

With Christmas fast approaching, so was the annual Beckett family Christmas party. Maxwell had already been working away to make sure that they had matching cute outfits, and Andrew left that to Maxwell and his Mom. Andrew was actually asked to help with the catering side of things, making sure that the food was up to his standard. He was sure that the family knew what they were doing, but he really enjoyed being included in everything.

They were making sure that Andrew felt welcome, because there was no way that Andrew was leaving now. Maxwell wouldn’t let him, and Andrew was so beyond content with that. Amir and Jordan also felt the best around Andrew when they weren’t by their mates side as well.

Maxwell was a little confused by that, as were the omegas in question, but Andrew just took it to mean that at their most base level, they knew that Andrew would never hurt them. It was something that everyone was beginning to notice as well.

Whenever Andrew would stop into the daycare to check in on the kids there as well as to make sure that everything was running properly, all of the kids would swarm him. Andrew would be ’forced’ to spend far longer in the room than he had budgeted for, which meant that Maxwell would have to come find him.

Andrew would always be covered in kids, but particularly the kids that were showing early signs of being omegas later in their life. Andrew kind of wondered if they should test it, and Richard was in agreement.

It was an interesting phenomenon, that Richard was happy that he could also participate in it because he was an omega now. Though he admitted that his results could be, would be skewed because he grew up with Andrew so he always felt safe with Andrew. That had made the man sad, but quickly he rebounded and started writing up an official request to study Andrew and his pheromones.

Which led to a few days before the Christmas party, Maxwell reading over the proposal in their home while curled up against Andrew as he watched t.v. and Maxwell did some ’easy’ work before the holidays officially kicked in.

Maxwell was laughing to himself at his brother-in-law’s proposal to research his fiancé. He kept pointing out parts that were so unprofessional it made Maxwell reconsider if he’d actually written it himself or if he’d had Dr. Piper write it. Her proposals were always ridiculous.

It was a nice moment before a stressful, but fun day.
