Chapter 511: You can’t hide from me

Maxwell’s grip on Andrew’s hand while they were in between tests reminded Andrew that while the man was putting on a brave face, he hated Doctors.

He wasn’t showing any other outwardly signs that he was displeased or distressed. His pheromones were in tight control, his facial expression was normal. He wasn’t even a different shade from his usual.

It was just the soft, tight flutter of his grip on Andrew’s that told him that he was uncomfortable and was glad that Andrew was there.

That was all that Andrew needed to know to know that he made the right call coming with him. Honestly, there was no way that the man was coming on his own, especially since they were doing this because Andrew was scared for Maxwell. Maxwell said it was for the both of them, but he knew better.

Maxwell probably had no doubt that Andrew would get him pregnant, and honestly? That wasn’t really a doubt for Andrew, either. It was more about what came after the sperm met egg that had Andrew tied up in knots. Waiting for the Doctor to go through each test, explaining to each of them what was the purpose of each test, took a lot out of both of them but Andrew remained strong.

Maxwell needed him.

They were lucky, actually, that they didn’t run into William or any of the other hospital staff that they knew. Andrew had gotten close to both the people who worked in the maternity ward and those who worked in the alpha ward during his time visiting. Andrew just knew that they would have jumped to conclusions just seeing Andrew and Maxwell going for tests.

That wasn’t something Andrew wanted to explain to others, and he was sure Maxwell didn’t want to explain it to others when he didn’t even want to explain it to his own family.

When the tests were done, including a blood test, Andrew and Maxwell sat together in a room away from others to give Maxwell a moment to collect himself. While his Doctor wasn’t making a big deal of it, it was clear that she knew that Maxwell hated coming here.

The soft smile as she gave them the room said it all.

She also, quietly, warned Andrew that the next time that they came in he would need to give a sample. Andrew had just nodded in agreement to her words, but it wasn’t until Andrew was alone with Maxwell leaning against him in a quiet hospital room that Andrew realised what she had said. A sample.

Andrew was going to have to cum into a cup of some sort for her to do an examination on.

He didn’t dwell on it, instead focusing on the man in his arms whose body was trembling just slightly. It had been a big day for him, and he had done a lot for Andrew. Andrew had to give him his full attention as a reward. The man deserved a reward.

Before they left, they made sure to stop by Jordan’s room to see the sweet little Fern and check on Jordan’s condition. Andrew had them swing by Nicole’s room as well and found that she was missing.

That was why they were going to Jordan’s room now.

It was the right call. Jordan, Rose, Elijah and Nicole were sitting at a folding table that had been brought in for them, chatting and playing a card game of sorts while Jordan rocked a sweet baby in his arms, his eyes bright. Nicole was laughing about something, Elijah’s hand on her thigh while Rose had her arm around the back of Jordan’s chair.

They didn’t even flinch when Andrew and Maxwell came in. Instead, they all lit up at the sight of Maxwell at this time of day.

"Maxy! What are you doing with this oaf at this time of day? Are you taking a half day?" Rose asked, getting to her feet and coming over to greet them. She hugged Maxwell first, giving him a firm squeeze before she turned to Andrew, pretending to look disappointed before she hugged him too.

"Hey. Maxy’s allowed to take days off too, however, he just had an appointment in the area and we thought we’d take a moment to see you guys before he headed back to the office." Andrew said, smoothly covering any questions.

"Andy, did you get the forms that Noah printed off?" Nicole asked, ignoring their conversation. Andrew smiled as he looked towards his sister.

"I did. He’s already sent me his forms filled out. Have you finished yours?" Andrew asked and she nodded.

"They’re in my room. I didn’t bring them because I didn’t think I’d see you so soon." Nicole said, her eyes sparkling. Andrew chuckled.

"If I had known, I would have warned you ahead of time. It’s all good. We don’t need them right away. Just make sure to send them to me soon, or bring them up here next time. I’m sure Jordan can keep a close eye on them." Andrew teased and Jordan chuckled.

"I can try, if I don’t pass out at any time of the day." He said, sounding exasperated. Rose scowled at her husband. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"None of that. You just gave birth and underwent surgery, Jordan. Be kind to yourself. You did some amazing work, if I do say so myself." Rose said with confidence, the hint that she would have a hard time with her own child gone.

Andrew was glad that it was just a fear that had developed in the moment, and not a long standing fear. It would have devastated the whole family if she didn’t like Fern or couldn’t grow an attachment to him.

Jordan would have never forgiven her either. Andrew was glad to see this development as the new family was sweet and cute with each other, but that didn’t mean Andrew thought he should grow complacent. He should make sure to check in with Rose later, when Jordan was out of the hospital and they were able to settle into their own home and away from prying eyes.

When there wasn’t as much support.

For now, Andrew and Maxwell joined the group for a game of cards, then had to leave as Maxwell had a meeting he couldn’t miss later in the afternoon. They hugged everyone and left and when they were alone in the car, Maxwell spoke up.

"If every hospital visit was bookended with that kind of visit, I think I could manage." He admitted and Andrew’s smile made his face hurt.

He had to pull the man in and kiss him senseless as a reward for being so cute.

Andrew dropped Maxwell off at work, walking him into the lobby and giving him a goodbye kiss and promising to come pick him up once he was done with work. It was a semi-busy time in the lobby, so lots of people got to see Andrew love on his beautiful fiancé, and they also got to see Maxwell groping Andrew’s ass as the man turned.

Maxwell’s smug, happy smile warmed Andrew’s heart as he headed back to their house to study for his school semester. It had just started, and Andrew needed to focus. He was going to have to take a lot of time off for the wedding, so now was the time for him to breeze through the reading and studying portion so he could breeze through the practical portions on his own.

It was a special privilege he’d been given since it was his wedding, and he was assured that it wasn’t just him who could do it. Several other students had also been able to do so because of such circumstances.

Andrew was glad to hear that schools were getting more accommodating for students after he’d had to drop out because of his Mom’s health. It was a bitter thought, but then again, would he have even wanted to be a Doctor right after watching his Mom die without them being able to help her?

Yeah. He’d made the right decision, even if it didn’t feel like it.

Andrew was on a rather heavy Chapter when his phone rang and without checking the caller i.d., he answered.

"Hello? Andrew speaking."

"What is this I hear about you going to the hospital with Maxwell? Is something wrong?" It was someone that Andrew hadn’t anticipated calling. Michael.

"Oh, Michael. Hi." Andrew said, pushing the book to the side as he knew that he was about to be completely distracted.

"Don’t try to ’hi’ me. I saw the request. I’m still your primary Doctor right now. A sperm test? Why do you need a sperm test? Is something going on, Andrew?" Michael asked, concern in his voice. "I already had you do one before, remember? Your count was normal." Andrew didn’t actually remember that, and...things could change.

Andrew felt a lump form in his throat.

"Nothing serious. I just...wanted to be sure." Andrew mumbled and Michael let out a sigh.

"Are you home?" He asked and Andrew glanced around his kitchen. He didn’t really feel like he could lie, not when it was clear that while Michael was calling him to rim him out, he was also concerned for him.

"I am home." Andrew admitted and Michael let out a grunt.

"I’m in the area. I’ll be there in ten minutes, at most. You can tell me everything then." Michael said and Andrew knew that he had no other choice. He was speaking to Michael about this, whether he liked it or not.

It was hard having your primary care physician also being your good friend. You couldn’t exactly tell them no, especially when they could just come to your house.

Andrew hung up the phone, stared at it, and then told Maxwell that he might be late. Michael had seen the upcoming test on Andrew’s side and was now coming over to question him.

Maxwell sent back a big thumbs up and a few kissy faces. His version of good luck. Andrew needed it.
