Chapter 258: Under Headmaster

At the base of the tower stairs, Agus Soren and Asta Elfutih had paused to talk before parting ways.

That short exchange gave Gara enough time to catch up.

The three students waited quietly by the corner, ready to approach as soon as the two academy leaders finished their conversation.

Before the two leaders could part ways, Asta Elfutih, mature and strikingly handsome, turned his gaze toward the group.

"What brings you here, young ones?"

Being addressed directly by the headmaster made the three of them tense slightly.

"Apologies for the interruption, Sirs," Madha replied politely. "We wish to speak with Sir Agus Soren about a subject not taught in this academy."

"With me?" Agus arched a brow, studying the three youths before him. "And what could two human boys and an elf possibly want from an old vampire like me?"

"Age is proof of wisdom, Sir," Madha said with a courteous smile. "We believe you’re the one who knows the most about Space Ability in this academy."

Asta chuckled at that. "Quite right. Agus knows more than anyone. You’ve come to the right person. Though..." He glanced at the quiet one among them, "...I was hoping our young elf here was coming to see me."

Asta’s gaze landed on Fian, who blinked in surprise. Despite not saying a word, he somehow became the center of the headmaster’s attention.

"With all due respect, Sir Asta," Gara quickly spoke up, "our friend Fian is truly honored to meet you. He even hopes to receive your personal guidance one day."

Fian’s head snapped toward Gara in disbelief. That definitely wasn’t part of the plan. He was only here to accompany Gara!

"Is that so?" Asta curved his lips into a charming smile, though none of them could tell what it meant.

"Y-yes, Sir," Fian stammered after Gara nudged him sharply.

"My schedule is a bit full until the end of this semester," Asta said, his voice smooth as silk. "Next semester, you may begin training directly under me."

Gara and Fian exchanged confused looks. Training directly under him? Whatever that meant, Gara still gave Fian another discreet nudge, telling him to thank the headmaster.

Asta’s grin widened as he excused himself. "I’ll leave you to your talk with Sir Agus, then."

He climbed the stairs and disappeared from sight.

"That old man— he’s overjoyed just because the only first-year elf approached him," muttered Agus, loud enough for the three to hear.

None of them knew how to respond to that.

’So elves really are that rare,’ Gara thought. ’Come to think of it, I’ve never seen another elf in this academy besides Fian. Though I did hear the top second-year student is an elf... I’ve never actually seen them, not even in the cafeteria.’

After grumbling about his old friend, Agus finally turned his attention back to the trio.

"So... why are you so interested in Space Ability? None of you have the bloodline or talent for it, do you?"

Gara bit his lip and glanced at Madha and Fian for support. Madha gave a firm nod.

"Actually, we do, Sir," Gara replied.

Agus’s eyes narrowed slightly as he examined them from head to toe.

"I’m busy today," he said after a moment. "Come to my office tomorrow morning."

"Your office, Sir?" Gara asked, unsure where it was located.

"Basement of the library. Ask the librarian to show you the way."

With that, Agus turned on his heel and walked away, his movements as graceful as ever.

Gara blinked several times. "Since when does the library have a basement?"

"Maybe that’s why no one ever sees the mysterious vice headmaster," Madha replied with a faint chuckle. "Turns out he’s been working in a place no one even knows exists."

"So you’re saying... Sir Agus has been here all along, hiding under the library?" Gara guessed.

"Could be."

Gara didn’t even want to imagine that the person he’d been looking for this whole time was right under his nose.

When the three of them returned to the dorm tower, they passed by groups of students whispering and sneaking glances at them.

"It must be about what Andine said earlier, right?" Gara muttered.

"You can clear things up through Miki," Madha suggested. "He’s good at spreading information. He’ll handle it."

Gara didn’t respond. His eyes had caught sight of Mona, who had just stepped out of the dorm tower.

The quiet girl looked at them. She raised a hand slightly in greeting, though her expression barely changed.

"At least Mona knows the truth," Madha murmured. "She’s been spending the most time with you lately."

"Yeah. She knows," Gara replied flatly.

He walked straight toward her. His expression calm, his tone neutral. "Still can’t get along with the other Class S students, Mona?"

The Ghost Girl shook her head.

"Then why are you getting close to me?" Gara asked, voice suddenly cold.

Mona’s head snapped up, startled. Their gazes locked and the warmth in Gara’s hazel eyes was gone.

The shock in Mona’s eyes lasted only a moment. She lowered her head, her bangs hiding her face. "I... wanted to train with you."

"Train with someone you don’t even like?" Gara’s voice stayed quiet, but each word cut deeper.

"Someone whose relationship you tried to ruin?"

"And if that wasn’t enough, you gave him a drug during an important duel?"

It wasn’t Mona but Madha and Fian who reacted first, both looking stunned. From the incident at the backfield until now, they had been with Gara the entire time.

So how did he knew this?

Mona didn’t lift her head. Her bangs shadowed her expression completely. "I don’t understand what you’re saying, Gara. Wasn’t it Andine who put the drug in your drink?"

"Still denying it?" Gara’s tone sharpened, though his volume never rose.

He glanced around. They were standing right in front of the dorm tower now. Dozens of students were passing by. Some already stopping, curious about what the Class S students were talking about. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Do you want me to say it here," Gara asked, his voice low but cutting, "in front of everyone?"
