Chapter 277: Final Phase

Even though the academy was on break, Gara still came to the alchemist lab. Ambar’s Project had finally reached its final phase.

The moment he stepped into the lobby, Gara heard applause from all directions.

When he looked around, everyone was smiling at him, throwing praises his way.

"Gara isn’t just a genius in alchemy, he’s a genius herbalist too."

"He’s far more talented than any herbalist in the past few centuries."

"He only planted it once, and it grew. No one can match him."

"He’s also an Class S student because of his powerful Talent, right?"

"He was recognized by Professor Langga himself."

Gara could only give an awkward smile. So the incident from yesterday had already spread through the association.

Inside Ambar’s Lab, the middle-aged woman patted his shoulder. "Don’t feel pressured. Everyone’s just impressed with you."

Gara nodded, though Ambar’s words didn’t ease him at all.

"I wasn’t wrong to call you here, Gara. Thanks to your help, this project has finally reached its final phase," Ambar praised, once again.

"I didn’t do anything, Chief. This is all because you made the right decisions."

"No. You helped a lot with your ideas. Young people can’t be underestimated. Your experience might be lacking, but when it comes to ideas, your generation is far better."

"Experience is still the best teacher and the only thing that can guide true wisdom, Chief. And you’ve guided me a lot as well."

Ambar smiled and didn’t argue further.

She genuinely liked Gara. He wasn’t just smart and full of ideas, he wasn’t arrogant. No matter what he achieved, he never tried to take credit for himself.

They put on their gloves and got to work.

"Next week, we should be able to see the results from the first participant," one of the researchers said.

"Let’s hope it works this time," Ambar replied, hopeful but hiding it well.

Her research project had been going on for years. Failures were normal.

But this time, she had real hope. She felt the formula they created was finally right.

Her gaze drifted to Gara, who was seriously measuring liquids in the container before him.

As long as she stayed close to Gara, she felt luck would always follow her.

When they wrapped up for the day, Gara was about to go home with one of the association staff like usual. But Ambar and the senior researchers stopped him.

"Come with us, Gara."

"We’re heading to Alrova Drink Shop."

"We want to try those amazing drinks everyone keeps talking about," Ambar added.

"Chief is coming too?" His breath caught for a moment, but a genuine smile spread on his face.

"Of course," Ambar nodded.

They headed to Alrova Drink Shop using the Alchemist Association’s premium carriage.

Gara was thrilled. Their visit, especially Chief Ambar’s, would indirectly promote the shop.

When they arrived, Gara asked Hilda to assign their best staff.

Fortunately, the guests genuinely enjoyed the drinks they ordered.

"I’ll come again with my family."

"Same here. I’m coming back."

"Me too. But next time I’m coming alone to enjoy the atmosphere."

They all wanted to return, and that meant a lot to Gara.

Before the researchers and Ambar left, the chief alchemist gently patted Gara on the shoulder.

"You’re incredibly talented, Gara."

"Thank you, Chief," he replied with a sincere smile.

...

Even though Gara was exhausted yesterday, after finishing research he still had to accompany the alchemist association members for drinks at Alrova Drink Shop, he felt very satisfied.

Today, he was even more motivated to train.

Inside the chilly dimensional home, Gara, Madha, and Fian continued their training.

The cold air worked especially well for Fian.

"My stamina consumption drops drastically in low temperatures," Fian explained.

Gara and Madha weren’t as fortunate. It wasn’t about stamina, their bodies simply weren’t used to the cold.

From the second-floor balcony, Ares —holding Aldwin as he sunbathed— watched them with a hint of envy.

Because of Agus’s presence, Ares was practically confined to the second floor. After Madha and Fian went on break, they were the ones checking the fireplace.

Ares also wanted to train. He wanted to move freely like he used to.

"Stop daydreaming!" Della’s voice snapped Ares back to reality.

He immediately remembered he was holding Aldwin. If he zoned out too long, his body temperature would rise on its own, and the same incident that happened to Ava could happen to Aldwin too.

"You really can’t be left alone with the triplets," Della clicked her tongue.

"Sorry."

Ares’s shoulders slumped, his head dropping, accidentally bumping his chin against Aldwin’s head.

Gara’s eldest son looked up. Ares panicked a little and gently rubbed Aldwin’s head.

"Sorry, Prince Aldwin."

But the tiny baby didn’t cry. Instead, he gave a toothless smile. Ares couldn’t help but chuckle at the cuteness.

"You should smile more like Aldwin. Stop sulking and sighing all the time," Della commented while carrying Arion.

Ares instantly felt awkward. He hadn’t even realized he’d been sighing so much.

He glanced at the woman who, despite being labeled a slave in this household, was treated like everyone else.

Somehow, they had grown close— close enough that Della spoke to him without any filter at all.

Yet the moment Master Gara was nearby, she’d act like a shy maiden hiding behind a leaf.

Ares clicked his tongue unconsciously.

"What?" Della asked.

Ares shook his head quickly but chuckled under his breath. Aldwin saw him and giggled too.

Down below, something unexpected suddenly happened. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"Hikk—" An ice spike pierced straight through Fian’s own palm.

Blood flowed from his hand, dripping down the spike and onto the frozen ground.

"Fian!" Gara shouted and sprinted toward him.

Madha, bare-chested as he trained his Talent’s endurance, whipped his head around in panic, afraid something had happened to Gara.

Della and Ares also panicked upstairs, but since they were holding babies, they couldn’t move.

Meanwhile, Fian had already melted the ice.

Gara immediately healed Fian with his water, scolding him the entire time. "How did you manage to stab yourself with your own spike?"

"I tried using Ghost Walk and Ice Spike at the same time," he answered, not the slightest bit guilty.

The wound was deep, but Gara’s healing water had improved a lot. The injury closed quickly, though a faint mark remained.

"Let’s go inside. I’ll apply herb paste," Gara said, continuing his lecture. "I told you not to force yourself when you’re not at that stage yet. You have to learn everything step by step..."

Fian only nodded, looking like a child being scolded. Yet Madha, who watched from the side, clearly noticed the sparkle in Fian’s eyes.

He wanted nothing more than to drag his fiancé far away from any other man, but he knew that his fiancé was simply the type who naturally drew admiration from everyone.

Wearing a gloomy expression, he followed them back inside the house.

Right now, all he wished for was for their engagement ceremony to happen as soon as possible.

Before Madha’s wish could come true, a week later, Ambar contacted Gara through his crystal ring.

"The first participant came to the lab today. She’s pregnant, Gara. The project worked!" Ambar’s voice was at a normal volume, but she clearly couldn’t contain her joy.

"Congratulations, Chief. Your project finally succeeded," Gara replied sincerely. He understood exactly how Ambar felt.

He had his own research too, and when that research succeeded, he was extremely happy.

"From here on, we’ll keep adding more participants. Not just different races, but different body types and many other factors."

"That’s a great idea, Chief," Gara praised.

"Even though more trials are coming, this alone deserves a celebration. I’ll tell you when the party is."

"Alright, Chief."

...

The celebration for Ambar’s successful project was held two weeks later. Gara was even taken to buy a suit by the lab staff on Ambar’s orders.

"Many big figures will attend the celebration, especially since this is Chief Ambar’s project," the staff member explained.

Gara simply nodded and followed.

Wearing the new suit, he was escorted to the city center. This time using the alchemist association’s carriage instead of the usual teleportation.

Before he could ask why, they arrived in front of a luxurious restaurant.

But it wasn’t the restaurant building that shocked him, it was the rows of carriages parked outside. Several weren’t pulled by horses but by creatures Gara didn’t even recognize.

"This is just like people on Earth showing off their cars, isn’t it?" Gara muttered.

"People on... Earth?" the staff member looked confused.

Gara quickly shook his head. "It’s nothing."

Together, they entered the restaurant. Turns out, the entire place had been fully booked for the celebration.

Gara tried his best not to look out of place, but he couldn’t help being amazed at the sight of so many people from different races dressed in elegant suits and gowns.

The atmosphere was completely different from the academy or the streets of the capital city.

"Gara, I knew you’d come."
