"Let it go. I am not bothered by his words."

Princess Danielle worked fast, and her quick action caused all the anger and fury to drain out of Prince Yunn’s actions. He looked at the princess beside him with a startled expression, but she had already stopped paying attention to him.

Instead, she turned to address everyone else.

"The private matters of the imperial family are for them to take care of. For now, we need to focus on the agenda for today-Lady Elysia and her crime. Since we cannot kill her, I would like to suggest we keep her locked up forever."

Her calm words made people admire her. But at the same time, more and more people looked at her with contempt, not wanting to do as an ’outsider’ had asked.

Duke Inferno did not like her suggestion and immediately protested.

"We cannot punish the goddess’s envoy. Lady Elysia just made a mistake, so we should remind her of what she did wrong and allow her to come back. We need to follow the goddess’s will."

Nothing seemed to be getting past Duke Inferno and these nobles’ minds. The more Princess Danielle tried to reason with them, the more she felt like she was hitting a wall she could not overcome.

"It seems that this meeting is not going anywhere. Would you all like to wait for my brother to come back before we discuss anymore?"

Prince Yunn asked, and everyone flinched.

This was one thing that no one wanted to accept, even as a suggestion. So they all decided to come to a decision right then.

"Fine...I do see your point. We cannot ignore what Lady Elysia did, but at the same time, we cannot ignore the goddess’s will either."

Duke Inferno had no choice but to calm down. He knew that he would lose his edge if Emperor Kaiden were to make his return.

So he needed to achieve what he came here to do while the Emperor was away.

"Companion Shuu, you have not given your input on anything. Since you are the victim here, why don’t you say something as well? What would you like for us to do?"

Duke Inferno turned the situation over toward Shuu, wanting to put him on the spot. And once again, all eyes turned to look at Shuu as well, and it created an invisible pressure around him.

Ideally, he wanted to remain unnoticed in the corner and let everyone else decide for him. But since he was being forced to speak up, he decided not to hold back.

"I would like Lady Elysia to be held responsible. I would not have done anything had she only attacked me. But since she also attacked Caelis and Rin, I cannot let her go unpunished."

Everyone looked at Shuu like he had broken some unspoken rule. But the most obvious glare came from Duke Inferno.

He looked disappointed and angry at Shuu at the same time. But Shuu neither cared nor tried to appease him. He stood still with a straight back, and Princess Danielle quickly took charge once more.

"Now that we have heard everyone’s opinion, I will announce the final verdict. Lady Elysia will be put into prison until Emperor Kaiden comes back and decides on her punishment. Does anyone object to this?"

There were many people who seemed to want to object. But under the current pressure, no one dared to protest.

Even Baron Conner, who looked crushed by what was happening, remained quiet, and the session came to an end.

Before everyone could head back, Baron Conner stood up and looked at Shuu. His eyes were filled with resentment but also pity and other unspoken things. His gaze was strong enough to make Shuu want to look away.

"I would like to see my daughter one last time before I head back. Would you grant me this much?"

Baron Conner asked Shuu, and Shuu sighed before he agreed.

"Alright."

He gave the Baron permission, and Baron Conner straightened his back before he headed toward Elysia’s cell.

A tense silence remained in the room before everyone excused themselves.

Shuu felt his knees go weak once everyone left. The tension that had supported him up until now drained out of his body, and he relaxed once more.

"It’s alright. You can let it all go now. Do you feel better?"

Princess Danielle asked, and Shuu nodded. He did feel better, but a small part of him still felt a little nervous...

He had a feeling that something bad was going to happen soon.

"This is as far as we can take you, Baron. We can only give you a few seconds to talk to your daughter."

The guard looked at Baron Conner with pity, and the Baron nodded in appreciation before he headed toward his daughter’s cell.

Elysia looked unhurt and angry, but her eyes lit up as soon as she saw the Baron.

"Father, are you here to get me out?"

Elysia asked in a strained voice as she reached for her father. Baron Conner reached back as well and held her hand. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"I-I am going to get you out of here, Elysia. I am sorry that I cannot do that right now. But once the Emperor comes back-"

"But that’s not enough. Simply helping me is not enough. I need to have my seat back. Father, please help me. M-My God-! He’s not responding, and I..."

Elysia looked like she was losing her mind.

As her father, Baron Conner felt startled, and he wanted to help her out.

"C-Calm down, Elysia...Tell Daddy what he can do to help you out. I promise I will do anything-"

"Then get rid of the leech beside my god’s new body. That Shuu...he needs to go. Father, make him disappear for me."

Baron Conner wanted to refuse his daughter and tell her that it was the wrong thing to do. But one look in her eyes, and he felt like he could not disobey her.

His mind went blank, and he had only one thought in his mind-he needed to get rid of Shuu at all costs and restore balance as ordained by the goddess.

"I understand, Elysia. I see the light now, and I know what to do. Don’t worry. Daddy will make sure things go right."

He promised Elysia and placed his hand on her shoulder before he stood up and left the cell.
