[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 188: Ch : Cursed Blessing - Part 2
It was hard for Danielle to push all of these rushing memories and emotions back, but she somehow managed to do so and take note of the situation at hand.
The situation looked grim. Someone had just died in a prison under surveillance watch. And what’s more? There was neither any evidence nor a hint of a weapon that could have been used to carry out this death.
’But what does it all mean?’
Danielle wanted to yell out loud at this injustice, but she controlled herself and slowly calmed down. She took a few deep breaths before she stood back up and looked at the terrified unit of guards behind her.
"Don’t let the news of this leak out anywhere. I will try to deal with the fallout. Don’t worry, we will get to the end of it all."
She assured the people who were following her, but they did not look as reassured by her words as she had hoped.
Still, she knew better than to stay silent at such a crucial moment.
Things wrapped up pretty quickly after that, and she collected the body to take it back and give it a proper burial. Once it was all done, she went back to her room and collapsed onto her bed.
Danielle was about to close her eyes and go to sleep when she felt a sudden pain in the back of her palm, and she quickly held up her hand to check what was happening.
The symbol from before was shining, and even more memories were pouring into her mind.
She had been able to push it all back before, but now it came back with a vengeance.
"These memories...are they telling me that I am the chosen companion...? But how...and why me...?"
Unlike other companions, Lady Danielle was rational and had a good head on her shoulders. That was why she did not fall for any of it and questioned these new sensations instead.
However, it was not easy for her to go against the flow. Every second she spent with these heavy emotions made her feel like she was drowning. It was hard for her to keep up with all this...
’This is so painful. I want these memories to end...right now...’
Danielle fought against the new feelings inside her, but it was too much. After all, how could a human combat a god’s power? They were bound to fall sooner or later.

"Shuu. Follow!"
"Follow us!"
Shuu had no choice but to walk at the kids’ pace as he was led by them back to their room...well, Kaiden’s room. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
It looked untouched, and Shuu finally felt the tension melting away from his frame. He was finally home, and he wanted to enjoy this feeling.
"Shuu, had fun outside?"
Caelis asked as soon as Shuu had settled down, and Shuu wondered what he should tell a child this young.
In the end, he decided to lie and flash Caelis a reassuring grin.
"Of course I had a lot of fun outside. Unfortunately, both you and Rin are too young to come with me right now. But maybe when you are a little older, I can take you."
The two kids looked at Shuu with wide eyes.
"Really?"
Shuu just smiled at that look of wonder and joy.
"Yes, really. But for now, why don’t you both go to sleep? I can tell that you are tired."
Shuu asked the kids, only for them to pout.
"We are not tired. We can stay up longer."
Caelis assured Shuu, causing Shuu to sigh and fake a yawn.
"Well, I am tired and I want to sleep. If you want to join me, then you can."
Shuu proposed, and the kids exchanged a look before they settled on either side of him.
"Hmm, I am not sleepy. But since you are...let’s sleep."
Caelis was far too articulate for his age. But in the end, he was still a child, and his body was not able to keep up with all the excitement.
Both he and Rin fell asleep as soon as their heads touched the pillow, and Shuu let out a relieved sigh as he watched the two kids sleep. He wanted to fall asleep as well, but sleep seemed to elude him at the moment.
Shuu sat back up and looked outside the window to calm the sudden rise of uneasiness inside him. He had been feeling it ever since he came back to the imperial castle, but he had been able to ignore it when he was with other people.
But now that he was left alone with his thoughts once more, it threatened to engulf him.
’In the end, we came back here...but you still feel hollow inside, right? You won’t be able to find happiness like this. The only real happiness can be found by the goddess’s side. So come back to her-’
"Enough! I-"
Shuu almost yelled before he caught himself. The voice that was talking to him immediately went quiet, and Shuu flinched once he realized that he had been speaking out loud.
He rubbed his eyes to get rid of the headache rising behind them, but it did not help at all.
"Ugh, now I am beginning to talk to myself as well. I feel like I am one step away from stepping onto a landmine. Maybe I should take a small walk to clear my head."
Shuu told himself, and he finally left the room. He noticed the guards following him as soon as he exited, but he did not mind their presence.
If anything, not being alone made him feel a little better.
’So, we can’t even be trusted here, huh? It’s vindicating, right? The guards are following us around, almost like we are criminals. What’s next? Being framed for a crime we did not even commit? Surely, we cannot stand for it-’
"Ugh, please stop talking. I cannot take it anymore..."
Shuu complained as he rubbed his forehead, and the voice finally went quiet. Shuu let out a sigh of relief, only to run into something solid the next second.
