"What do we do? He is not settling down..."

The maids looked at the black-haired baby they were caring for. But he continued to cry, making them nervous. Just when they finally got him settled, another problem came knocking at their door.

Lady Sera opened the door and immediately headed for the black-haired baby.

Caelis saw her and immediately turned his head away, causing Lady Sera to feel like she had been scoffed at.

’How dare a mere baby...! No, I need to calm down. This baby will become mine soon. I need to treat him well.’

With gentle hands, she reached for the baby, only to be stopped by the maids.

"I am afraid that you do not have permission to touch him, Lady Sera. Please head back now before we are forced to make a complaint about you."

The maids told her clearly, but Lady Sera frowned.

"Why can’t I come and look at my baby? He’s going to be mine anyway, so I might as well bond with him."

She yelled, causing the maids to frown at her.

"I am afraid that it is not true. This baby belongs to Companion Shuu. Your son is in your chambers, and we-"

"That thing is not my son. This is my son. Don’t you dare take my son away from me, or else..."

Something was clearly wrong with Lady Sera. She was shaking, and her eyes looked wide and unfocused. It was as if she was having an episode, and no one knew what to do with her.

"Get away from my son-! Don’t take him away from me-! He is mine and Prince Kaiden’s son-! Ahhh-!"

She clutched her head, and her maids quickly ran toward her and grabbed her.

"Lady Sera, are you alright?"

"What do we do?"

"We need to take her back right now. I will call for Count Diltz-"

"M-Maybe the high priest as well-"

Her maids somehow wrestled her out of the room, but Lady Sera did not want to leave. She continued to reach for the child in the end until her last moments.

Silence filled the room once she was gone, and everyone let out a sigh of relief.

"W-What was that..."

"I don’t know. And frankly, I hope this never happens again."

The maids looked shaken, but they quickly got the room in order before Shuu and Princess Danielle returned.

Once they were back, the maids wasted no time spilling what had happened, and a concerned look overtook Shuu’s face.

"Such a thing truly happened? It seems things are getting much more complicated than I expected. Anyway, you all did a good job keeping the child safe."

Princess Danielle praised her maids, and they retreated with happy looks on their faces.

But Shuu looked worried, and he held his child close. He felt bad that he had left Caelis alone, and he vowed not to leave him alone again.

At the same time, he felt a small worry for Lady Sera’s son.

If she had lost her mind like this and refused to accept her own son, then was he even being taken care of properly? He felt like he had to see it for himself.

’Hopefully, the maids are still caring for the child. If not... then I will get him and raise him myself. Children do not deserve to suffer because of adults’ decisions.’

Shuu sighed and made a decision.

Lady Sera raged as she tried to break the hold others had on her. But it was all futile, and her maids held her down.

The rage inside her threatened to claim her, and even though she knew that this was not normal, she was not able to stop herself from feeling all this.

"What is going on here...? Sera... what the-! Let her go right now. Sera, what happened?"

Count Diltz grabbed her face and held it up. He immediately noticed that Sera’s complexion looked off and her eyes looked dazed.

It seemed as if she was getting even sicker and had started to lose her mind.

"High priest, what is going on here?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

He asked the high priest, who placed a hand on the count’s shoulder to calm him down.

"Please do not worry. This is just a side effect of the potion she has been taking her whole life. Due to stress, the potion is causing unneeded side effects. A little sleep should calm her down."

The head priest assured him, and Count Diltz nodded.

"Alright, I will believe you. But what do we do about this situation? Too many people on that princess’s side heard this. If this were to spread, then all the goodwill we have cultivated until now would be up in smoke."

Count Diltz felt worried about the situation. Prince Kaiden had already broken off the engagement, so the only option left to push Sera to the seat of empress was to have public opinion on her side.

But it was a fragile trust that could snap if her true nature were to get out.

"I guess it’s time. We shall reveal the words of the prophecy and force Prince Kaiden to accept Lady Sera before he announces something."

The high priest sighed. He did not know what the companion looked like, but he had made sure Lady Sera fit the prophecy’s words.

The only problem he had was the saintess and her sudden disappearance.

From what he had heard, the saintess knew the companion well, and she had been set to arrive to speak to him.

But she had suddenly disappeared, and there was no way to contact her. It was clear that Prince Kaiden was behind this.
