Chapter 102: Holographic Communication Device

Time flew by, and a short while later, every member of the Fourth Line finished their quick interview.

And they didn’t stay behind to idle around and instead headed to their rooms to settle in for a night.

"...Did you know that some players prefer to sleep inside the game?"

Machary asked Fang Raon.

"Really? And why would they do that?"

Fang Raon asked curiously.

"Let’s say that if someone attacks this place—Rose Records—and if nobody is online, we will only find out next morning that this place has been burned to the ground.

"That’s why, there are always a few players staying awake for a night as guards, and some other players sleep inside the game so they can easily be woken up.

"One of the players will also be on standby to log off and call others in the real world if need be."

Machary said.

"...Makes sense."

Fang Raon nodded.

However, he wasn’t in a situation that allowed him to keep staying in the game for several days in a row.

In that moment, the door opened, and Miranda stepped outside and looked at the two of them—the only ones remaining.

"Both of you, please come in."

She said.

They stepped through the open door, stopped by the desk, and four intense gazes locked on them.

"We’ve questioned every member of the Fourth Line, and now it is time for the two of you to make your case about why you should be the team leader."

Della said.

Knock! Knock!

However, at that moment, someone knocked on the door, and without anyone even opening the door, the person knocking peeked his head inside the room.

"Am I too late?"

Rock asked with a smirk.

"...Grandfather, what are you doing here?"

Della asked with a twitching eyebrow.

She didn’t want him to take part in the evaluation process because she knew that he had a clear bias towards Fang Raon.

They wanted the evaluation to be completely impartial and fair.

"I am here only to listen, nothing else~"

Rock said with a smirk, sat down on the couch, and propped his feet up on the coffee table.

"Sigh..."

Della pinched her forehead and believed that her grandfather wasn’t here just to "listen," but for now, she let him stay.

She then turned to the two young men and, with a smile, said.

"Who wants to start?"

The two young men looked at each other, and Fang Raon said.

"I started the raid first, so I think you should go first now, Machary."

It already made Rock chuckle as he thought, "Sneaky little shit," as he could see through Fang Raon’s plan.

He wanted to see what Machary was going to say and base his response off of that, and he could also see what Della and others didn’t like to hear.

"...Fine."

Machary didn’t care, and he was fine to start first.

"Go ahead then, Machary. Why do you think we should choose you to be the next team leader of the Fourth Line?"

Della asked.

"I might not be the perfect choice, but I am the best choice as of now. I have my flaws, like everyone has, but my strengths far outweigh any flaws, and there is nothing you all have to worry about if I am the leader."

Machary said with a serious tone.

Nobody responded to his words, and instead, they just wrote down his response in their notebooks.

He didn’t know whether they liked his response or not.

’I wonder if he practiced that in a mirror.’

Fang Raon wondered to himself with a smile.

"...What about you, Fang Raon?"

Della asked curiously.

"First of all, I have a question for Machary. What strengths are you exactly talking about?"

Fang Raon asked curiously.

"...Ah?"

Machary’s eyebrow jumped, and he turned to him in surprise, and so did everyone else in the room.

"Pfft."

Rock covered his mouth before he burst into laughter, and he was also quite curious about where this was heading.

"You’re supposed to make your own case as to why you should be a team leader and not ask questions."

Machary said coldly.

"I am just curious. Can you please enlighten me?"

Fang Raon asked.

With a troubled look, Machary turned to Della and the rest so that they would force Fang Raon to stop asking questions.

However, on the contrary, they also looked quite curious and were looking at Machary with a look of, "So, what are your strengths?"

"I am strong, confident, and resourceful."

Machary said.

"...How does any of that translate to leading a party? Party leadership requires more than just personal strengths."

Fang Raon said with a smile.

"Tch..."

Machary clicked his tongue and angrily looked at Fang Raon, finally understanding what he was trying to do.

He intentionally didn’t want to speak first because this was exactly what he wanted to do and make his case look pathetic!

"Alright, that’s enough of that. Fang Raon, please, tell us why you should be the team leader."

Della asked.

"Yes, please tell us."

Machary crossed his arms and said with a cold look.

He was planning to use Fang Raon’s strategy against him, and if he found anything to nitpick, he would do so without mercy.

"...I will let my friends speak on my behalf."

Fang Raon said with a smile and pulled out a strange-looking item from his inventory.

It looked like a flat metal plate with a button in the middle of it, but when he pressed the button, a hologram appeared.

It was a hologram of three people—Ragnar, Abigail, and Poppy—they were sitting on a couch and looked as if they were staring at a camera.

"This is Holographic Communication Device."

Waylen said in surprise.

It wasn’t exactly that rare of a device, and Rose Records had a couple of them, but they were surprised that Fang Raon was in control of one of them.

"I got this as a reward on the 12th floor."

Fang Raon said.

"..."

Machary turned completely silent.

He remembered Fang Raon choosing this as his first item during the 12th floor, and he wondered why, as he thought it wasn’t as good as other items.

"Hello, everyone..."

In that moment, Ragnar spoke in the hologram, and it sounded very clearly as if he was in the same room as them.

"I am here to tell you about my experience at the party with Machary and Fang Raon... And about why I think Fang Raon should be the team leader."

Ragnar said with a serious look.

Machary’s eyes widened in shock, and he turned to Fang Raon, as he couldn’t believe that he got them to do this!

’Why are they helping Fang Raon and not me? What does he have that I don’t?’
