Chapter 23 - 23 - The Demon Olzak

"Zion look out!" Pushing her son out of the way, Zaleena parried the oncoming attack with her sword. With only his fingers, the demon delivered a devastating strike that tore through the air and left the ground beneath them destroyed.

'Such power! I guess the texts of demons being stronger than even dragons weren't exaggerated.' Simply being in the Ascendant Stage allowed Zaleena to stand a chance against the demon. Thankfully, she uses Zion's cultivation method so her power is stronger than a normal Ascendant Cultivator.

"Zion, get out of here, now!" Her sword beamed with mana and she slashed at the demon. Unfortunately, her attack was blocked but it did manage to leave a scar on his hand which then healed after a few seconds.

Zion wasted no time and flew as fast as he could to leave the area.

"Oh no, you're not going anywhere." The demon lifted a finger in the air and a black and red beam shot into the sky, then formed a dome around the entire corrupted forest.

Zion, who couldn't stop in time, slammed into the dome which burned his arms.

"Arghh, shit! That stung!" He could feel the demonic energy eating away at his mana, but it faded away after a few seconds.

"Now, why don't we start again? My name is Olzak, nice to meet you, now prepare to die." With a maniacal smile, he lunged toward the Mother-Son duo.

"Support me from behind!" Zaleena shouted as she again blocked Olzak's attack.

Zion's first instinct was to slap his mother's ass but he knew that they were in a serious situation so he pushed his lewd thoughts into the pack of his mind.

"On it!" Zion brandished his sword, flames coiling around the blade like a living inferno. He steadied his breath, waiting for the perfect moment. The instant his mother staggered back, he lunged. With three swift, precise swings, torrents of fire roared forth, surging toward the demon in a relentless blaze.

"Heh, weak!" In one swift movement, Olzak brushed off Zion's attack with his hand. "Is that all you got?!"

Zaleena dove back into battle, her sword colliding with the demons in a shower of sparks. She channeled wind mana, weaving through Olzak's relentless strikes with effortless agility. Lightning crackled along her blade, each swing unleashing a storm of raw power, her attacks swift and devastating.

But even with all of that, Olzak still wasn't fazed. He brushed Zaleena's sword to the side and delivered an orb of demonic energy straight to her gut, knocking her away. He then charged at Zion to get what he wanted.

Zion, not panicking, shot his arm backward and summoned a footstool made of mana which his mother, who realigned herself in the air, used to rocket back down and attempt to slice Olzak's head clean off.

"Impressive." Olzak complemented as he erected a barrier around his body. "But not good enough."

"Mom, just go all out, don't worry about me." Zion knew she wanted to make sure he was safe, but he knew that if they wanted to win this battle, she needed to stop holding back.

Zaleena simply smiled and her energy burst from her body like an avalanche. Olzak was caught off-guard by her sudden increase in power and his barrier cracked, then shattered, and his chest was cut by Zaleena.

"Alright, come on, let's do this!" Zion felt all the mana around him. It was hard to do so in the corrupted forest, but he pulled through.

Wrapping around his body were all the primary elements. Wind, water, earth, fire, lightning, and wood. His hair stood up in a blazing glory, the wind around him flowed like a raging storm, and lightning crackled on his body.

Mature moved at his command, his arms and legs were covered with earth, and his chest was wrapped in water to protect him from the demonic flames Olzak produced.

With a single powerful step, Zion propelled himself toward Olzak like a streak of fire. His blade tore through the demon's shoulder, carving a deep gash and drawing the first taste of blood. He followed up with a punch to the back, sending him flying into the trees.

"Good job, son."

"Thanks! But I doubt that will bring him down."

"I agree. Focus up, he's getting ready to attack once more."

"It's funny really, watching you humans try your best to fight against beings who are a class above you. If it wasn't for the gods saving your asses all those years ago, you inferior beings would have been nothing but our slaves! Know your place you trash!"

The demonic energy coming from his body was nothing like it was before. Zaleena and Zion stood still as they felt chills run down their spine. The air was dry and it felt like death was hovering above their shoulders.

'What the fuck?! He was holding back?!' Zion felt a chill run down his spine.

They knew that if they messed up even once, they would die. This too made Zaleena feel inferior since she's one of the strongest humans alive and her son was with her. Her pride as a mother and Warlord was on the line and she wasn't going to let that be broken.

"Come, your inferior beings, show me the might of your power." Taunting them, Olzak rushed toward them and Zaleena did the same alongside her son. Zion knew his strength wouldn't help that much, but he hoped he would be able to give his mother openings to deliver a fatal blow.

The air crackled with tension as their attacks collided with one another. Olzak powered through all their attacks with ease, his stomps sending tremors with every movement, while his dark, hollow laugh echoes like thunder, a cruel reminder of his overwhelming power over lesser races like humans.

In the midst of the chaos, Zaleena charged at Olzak, her muscles straining with every step as she dashed toward the demon. Her gleaming blade, shining with light mana, blured through the air with precision and ferocity.

She swung in rapid arcs, her movements a deadly dance as she dodged the demon's fiery breath and claws laced with demonic energy.

Zion backed her up, attacking the demon when his mother went on the defensive, allowing her to attack once more. Their teamwork was unlike any other, not needing to communicate to understand what they needed to do.

But Olzak, unfazed by the strikes, retaliated with relentless force, his powerful fists slamming into the ground and creating shockwaves that knocked Zaleena off balance, forcing her to roll and regain her footing.

Zion was flung to the edge of the battlefield where his back slammed against the demonic barrier, burning it. But instead of yelling in pain, he gritted his teeth and started drawing runes.

Brilliant streaks of light shot from his hands, weaving through the air to strike the demon's hulking form. Bolts of fire, ice, and lightning coursed around him as a storm unleashed, each runic attack aiming to weaken Olzak.

His power was formidable for his level, but it wasn't enough to harm the demon as his demonic energy burned through Zion's runes, leaving only a few shallow burns and scorch marks on his strong skin.

Still, Zion pressed on, his expression resolute despite the strain. He unleashed runic attack after runic attack, each strike searing with raw energy. His mother rejoined the fray, her assaults swift and unrelenting, forcing Olzak onto the defensive as she delivered powerful, deadly blows.

"That's it, I've had enough." With a single, overwhelming surge of demonic energy, Zion and Zaleena were hurled backward. As they scrambled to regain their footing, Olzak raised his hand, and a massive orb of swirling black and red energy took shape. It crackled violently, radiating a power so immense it defied comprehension, distorting the very air around it.

"Let's see how you humans handle this." With a smile, he launched the attack at them, relishing in their slightly scared faces.

"Zion!" Zaleena rushed over to her son, wrapping them both in a power barrier. Zion too added his strength to it, hoping to reinforce it and ensure their survival.

The attack struck the ground with a cataclysmic roar, a shockwave tearing through the air. In an instant, everything within the dome was vanquished, reduced to nothing but scattered atoms, leaving only an eerie void where destruction reigned.
