Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 26 - Magic and Aura
Chapter 26 - 26 - Magic and Aura
Bursting into Zion's room was a short woman wearing a lab coat. Her black hair was unkempt but she had the body of a goddess and she was beautiful beyond belief. This woman was one of Zion's scientists. She was also a dwarf.
"Young Master! Young Master! I got it! I managed to get it! What you said worked! Come see!" She shouted with excitement.
"My magic aura project?" He asked, his dull eyes sparking with life.
"Yes! That's right! Come see, quickly!"
Zion arrived at his lab which served as a place to conduct all sorts of experiments, even the mad scientist kind. Sitting on the table was the heart of a drake his mother had killed, a creature that belonged to the dragon species.
"As you know, the dragon race can use both aura and magic and although their body absorbs mana like our own, their heart is the, well, heart of their immense power, besides their biology of course." Rebecca, the scientist spoke while taking Zion.
"Thanks to this microscope you created, we're able to see mana on the, what did you call it again? Ah yes, the microscopic level. Via this tool, we saw how the mana interacted with a piece of the Drake's heart and we found something very interesting. Take a look."
Zion peered through the microscope and saw how mana functioned in the body of a dragon. Small particles, more specifically, mana stars, were floating around, spinning at high speeds, similar to how electrons revolve around the nucleus of an atom.
But that wasn't the interesting part. What Zion managed to figure out was that the mana stars were moving so fast, that they created a physical trail of mana that connected back to itself to form a mana ring.

The heart of a dragon naturally produces a star and ring at the same time.
"Amazing! A dragon's heart makes a ring and star naturally!"
"Correct!" Rebecca confirmed with excitement
"Amazing! So all we have to do is copy this method." Zion then thought about it for a second. "That won't be easy though. Dragon biology is different from human biology."
"Indeed. On paper, it may seem easy, but in actual practice, it's quite deadly." Rebecca led him to another room tied to the lab. In this room, hundreds of dead bodies were piled up as a result of the experiment.
"Unlike Dragons, Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Beastmen all have pathways of mana in their bodies which allows for mana flow. When we create a Star or Circle, our pathways are tied to it."
"So when trying to mimic the dragons, our pathways get all twisted, resulting in mana reflux causing death," Zion concluded
"Correct. The inside of a dragon's body doesn't have these pathways. Their insides are just flowing with mana unrestrained. That's why they're so powerful. Even without their natural abilities that aren't tied to mana, they would still be superior to the other races simply because of how mana works in their body."
"What if we created an energy field around our heart? Similar to how mana beasts have mana cores. If we make our mana pathways flow onto our core and not our rings or stars, theoretically, we should be able to replicate it, right? Like a spinning ball inside of a bigger ball."
When Zion first came to this world, he thought his understanding of science would be blown out the window. However, once he started to learn about mana, he understood that it was simply the energy that humans in his past world couldn't harness. So Zion was confident that science could solve magical problems and so far, he wasn't off the mark.
"That could work. The only issue would be creating that mana field. It could block off mana flowing to your stars, which would be dangerous." Rebecca warned
"Don't worry. I have an idea." Zion sat down on the lab floor and began meditating. He was feeling a lot better knowing that one of his projects to make him and his people stronger was a success, or at least almost one.
Zion scanned the inside of his body, feeling the mana that flowed inside him. He felt the path his mana took, which connected to his stars.
'Oh thank god I'm a fucking genius. I can recreate my mana field inside my body! By doing so, my pathways will connect to the field. However, I'll have to do the reverse. Instead of expelling mana out of my body, I'll have to use the mana from my pathways to strengthen my mana field, which will then strengthen my stars. Doing so, my pathways would technically be connected to my mana field so I should be able to replicate the dragons after that step.'
After making the field around his heart, he felt a tug on his heart which caused him a bit of pain. He could feel how his body reacted to the displacement of his mana path and it didn't like it.
He endured, withstanding the pain and connecting his pathways to his mana field. After that, he willed his stars to move.
After thirty minutes, when the stars picked up some speed, a trail was formed which eventually connected to itself, solidifying into a ring. He did this for all four of his stars, forming what he would simply dub a mana core.
However, this was not as good as it seemed. Stars and Rings are constantly absorbing mana, so when Zion created four rings from his four stars, his body was almost stripped of its mana, which would have been deadly.
Quickly thinking, he used the excess mana that was always around his body and drowned his newly formed core with it, feeding his mana stars and newly created mana rings which took him another fifteen minutes.
Once his mana rings and stars were fed, and his body now back to being full of mana, energy surged from his body creating a shockwave of mana that blew anything away that wasn't heavy enough to withstand it.
Opening his eyes, Zion exhaled as he finished creating his mana core and rings. He could feel his body surging with mana more than before. The mana that wrapped around his body due to his cultivation method doubled in size and felt stronger.
"Holy shit! Master, you're fucking sexy!" Rebecca blurted out as she saw the now shirtless Zion standing before her.
"Now I'm one step closer to killing the gods." Clenching his fist, Zion could feel his body surge with power. He could only smile at his newfound development.
A/N: [From now on, a mana core will refer to the field of mana around a person's heart, mana stars, and mana rings. All three of those together are considered a mana core unless I'm talking about mana beasts]
