Chapter 55: Chapter 55 Holy Shrine Notes

Chapter 55 -55 Holy Shrine Notes

Ronan was seeing Old Wells take things this seriously for the first time, he even used the word “plead” with himself.

“You say.”

Ronan’s expression also became serious.

Old Wells seemed to struggle to speak, after a struggle, he said in a low voice: “I heard someone is selling ship tickets for the recent departure from Hoddam, but the price is very high, one ship ticket costs an Advanced Magic Stone…”

“Are they crazy?”

Ronan shook his head, finding it absurd, “The ship tickets from the first half of the year only needed ten Low-level Magic Stones.”

Even if it was a price increase due to the war, it wouldn’t reach such an exaggerated extent.

People who could take out an Advanced Magic Stone…

would they worry about not being able to leave Hoddam?

“Hmm.”

Old Wells nodded, “It must be a blind quote, the real transaction…

I think ten Intermediate Magic Stones at most.”

Ten Intermediate Magic Stones…

That price was more reasonable and justifiable.

Ronan didn’t ask Old Wells if this channel was truly reliable; Old Wells was experienced in the ways of the world and had his own judgments.

“How many more do you need?”

Ronan asked directly.

“Eight.”

Old Wells said: “Just enough for Vinicia alone.

She can take Cheryl with her…”

Ronan didn’t say anything, just looked into Old Wells’ eyes.

He still vaguely remembered that Old Wells had once told him, he wanted to leave Hoddam and become a leisurely old noble in any mundane kingdom…

If the invasion of the Silent Forest had not occurred…

perhaps he would already be basking in the sun on the top of a castle turret in some noble’s territory.

“I’ll give it to you now.”

Ronan exhaled and reached for his waist storage bag.

He didn’t have many Magic Stones on him, but he could just manage to take out eight Intermediate Magic Stones.

As for Old Wells’ own ship ticket, he would have to wait…

wait till he cracked open the last Black Robed Wizard’s waist storage bag, or wait till he sold some Rune Stones to save up some more money.

But Old Wells stopped him, shook his head: “Not now…

I’ll ask you when it’s really needed.”

As he spoke, he took a packet from beneath his Magic Robe and stuffed it into Ronan’s hands.

“Thank you, Ronan, no matter what.”

Old Wells hugged him, whispering blessings in his ear: “You have more humanity than any other wizard I’ve met in my life.

I have this intuition…

that you will go far.”

After that, Old Wells patted his shoulder and turned to blend into the dense night.

Ronan looked at the weighty grey packet in his hands and then at the disappearing figure of Old Wells, his heart filled with a mixture of emotions for a moment.

He knew very well.

What Old Wells handed him…

was probably all he thought could repay him.

….

Under the bright and soft light of the illumination Magic Crystals, Ronan sat at his desk carefully examining what Old Wells had given him.

There were two books.

One was the most basic “Basic Magic Potion,” but what was different was that every page, every paragraph, every line was covered with dense notes from Old Wells’ own studies, his summaries of experience, the most meticulous outcomes he got from failures through decades of time.

There were even a few Low-level Magic Potion formulas he had figured out himself, all of them not particularly rare, but very practical.

During his last escape through the forest, Ronan had already seen it.

This book is extremely helpful for Ronan’s entry into Magic Potion Studies, encapsulating all of Old Wells’s painstaking efforts.

As for the other book…

Ronan’s expression changed.

This was a notebook.

A rather ancient notebook.

The pages had turned yellow and brittle; it felt like they might crumble like dry leaves with a bit too much force while flipping through them.

Ronan carefully browsed through this notebook.

The text left on the notebook was also very old, with many parts of the ink so faded they were nearly gone.

The notebook had lost a significant amount of its content; it was unclear whether this was due to decay over time or intentional destruction.

The remaining pages mostly contained disordered and trivial, jumbled information.

Ronan furrowed his brow and struggled to read through the entire notebook, roughly piecing together that the main topic was how to replicate something called “Holy Shrine Power.”

It involved a vast amount of profound and obscure knowledge in alchemy, Magic Potion, and Rune Studies, as well as a variety of specialized terminology.

For Ronan at his current stage, it might as well be a book from heaven.

Moreover, the notebook’s research didn’t lead to any results in the end, it seems to have failed, with the author only just managing to find how to preserve the “Holy Shrine Power” for a long time.

“What exactly is Holy Shrine Power?

Can replicating it bring significant benefits?”

Ronan had no clue; it was deeply profound, like a primary school student who had accidentally picked up a university textbook.

But to say it was completely useless…

that wasn’t the case, either.

It was indeed very old, and it recorded knowledge related to Wizards.

From this perspective…

it was of extraordinary value!

Perhaps it was for this reason that Old Wells had given it to him.

Ronan carefully placed the ancient notebook into his Waist Storage Bag.

At this time, faint noises could still be heard coming from outside the house.

Reflecting on the succession of events that had taken place tonight, Ronan let out a soft sigh, took out the last unopened Waist Storage Bag, and slowly began to grind.

….

The matter of the Wandering Grey Robe Recruitment Order, after fermenting overnight, reached a bustling peak the next day.

Ronan went out of his way to take a look.

He discovered that this so-called Recruitment Order was issued in the form of tasks.

The notice, emblazoned with the Ivy symbol of Hoddam Wizard College, listed a whole host of tasks for the Wandering Grey Robes to choose from.

The tasks ranged from small- collecting certain types of Magic Potion around Wizard Land, to large- joining the college’s Wizards in action.

The highest rewarded task offered ten Intermediate Magic Stones, with the task being to investigate the specific conditions of a small Magic Stone Mine over two hundred kilometers away.

The journey would be made via Magic Airship, and the Wizards who took on the task were expected to be at least of Intermediate Apprentice level and possess some combat experience…

Ronan expressionlessly surveyed the bulletin board filled with tasks awaiting takers before quietly slipping away from the crowded throng.

With his current level of Rune engraving, he could have a steady income by honestly staying at home and spending more time on it; naturally, he wasn’t interested in these tasks.

However, the same couldn’t be said for the other Wandering Grey Robes.

The task issued by the college was like a downpour of relief for many Wandering Grey Robes who were struggling to survive and considering moving out of the town immediately.

The opportunity to earn Magic Stones just by wandering around specific areas when they had nothing else to do?

With a bit more courage and willingness to take some risks, there was even a chance to receive rewards of Intermediate Magic Stones!

How many of the Wandering Grey Robes living at the bottom had ever seen a real Intermediate Magic Stone?

Being impoverished and barely able to live, upon seeing these numerous legal and lucrative “job opportunities,” the Wandering Grey Robes were so excited they were near madness…
