Boiling Beast Bloodline-Chapter 1345 - 379: The Power of Fallen Elves_2
Chapter 1345: Chapter 379: The Power of Fallen Elves_2
What terrified the fallen Elves was that now the War Ancient Trees seemed to be completely unresponsive to commands.
The Elf in charge of commanding the attack from the tree core discovered in horror that they had issued several orders to prepare the War Ancient Trees for battle, but the ancient trees did not react at all!
Squads of Cow-Eagle People flew out from the caves atop the icy peaks, but they hovered cautiously far above the cedar forest.
"I’ll count to three! If you don’t open the gates, I’m coming in!" Liu was losing his patience and shouted at the Elven Sentinels on the City Wall: "Do you fallen Elves regard me as your enemy or what?"
"Lord Richard! We have already notified the mother and Prince Moore, please wait a moment," an Elf mustered the courage to reply from the City Wall: "We had no intention of offending your dignity, nor that of these Giant warriors under your command."
Judging from the uncontrollable quiver in that reply, it was more than likely that the Elf’s legs were cramping. Giants are notoriously short-tempered; if they really did burst in because of some disagreement, the entire power of Lucian City might not lose, but the Elves on the City Wall believed they were as good as dead.
"Iskosmi!" Liu cursed smugly, satisfied with the results of the day’s experiments. Using the Giants to boost morale couldn’t have been better—he knew well that to a commander, weapons were tools, and combat abilities could never surpass deterrence.
"Richard, after we enter the city, can we spread a bit of philosophy of life to these neighbors?" Giant chief Deseli leaned down and asked Liu.
"Suit yourself," replied Liu, turning his back and taking a leak, shivering slightly.
"Chieftain, I think you’re just wasting your breath," said the Shepherd-tree People elder with a smile: "These city Elves are nothing like the ones I’ve encountered before; they’re greedier and won’t understand your ascetic teachings."
"One must always try," Deseli Chieftain smiled naively.
"Why not give it a try!" Liu sneered mockingly: "It would take us Beamon ten years to build such a city, and our Aegean’s Forest Elves are just a small tribe. Deseli, if you can dig up a group of sincerely virtuous fallen Elves for Aegean, I’ll consider you the hero!"
"Richard, the thing I can’t stand most about the Elves is exactly this. As a foreign-born Ent, you had better not follow in their footsteps!" Elder Cruyff coldly stated: "Do you know why the seeds of Elves can grow into towering constructions overnight?"
"Why?"
"Any city constructed by the Elves always involves the ’Eternal Moon Well’ and the ’Tree of Life.’ As long as these two exist, the tree houses, Vine Towers, and wooden walls planted by the Elves can continuously drain the essence of the forest, thus rapidly growing. In a very short period of time, they give birth to a city made of plants!" Elder Cruyff pointed angrily to the coniferous forests surrounding Lusen City: "Do you see those tiny Elves on the cedar tree trunks? They’re the ones drawing the nutrients from the conifers to the Eternal Moon Well, which then feeds a continuous stream of plant essence to the Tree of Life, sustaining the operation of this plant-based city!"
Looking intently, Liu saw that indeed, in the vast coniferous forest outside Lusen City, Elf-like fireflies flitted around upon the huge cedar tree trunks, occasionally fluttering back into the city and indistinguishable from the snowflakes drifting down from Tamerlarya if one wasn’t paying attention.
"Obischillaci! No wonder the Elves need to build their cities in forests!" Liu realized: "It seems that their cities are like wombs, using the forest as the mother!"
"This is a typical parasitic behavior. As an Ent, my disdain for dealing with Elves is also for this reason," Elder Cruyff curled his lips disdainfully: "The Shepherd-tree People tend their trees as their children, while the Elves keep taking from them, like an eternally immature child begging from their parents... The Elves claim to be the closest to nature, but it’s a wonder where that closeness lies..."
"Elder, you know what? The Aegean Continent universally recognizes the Elves as the ’Friends of Nature,’" Liu laughed.
"In summer, trees cloak the earth with lush greenery and cool shade; in winter, they shed their foliage, standing tall with naked branches against the frosty winds and snow," Elder Cruyff’s lips extended into a mocking smile: "How many Elves can exhibit such pride and resilience? Since they cannot achieve this, what’s the friendship with nature worth discussing?"
As the Elder put it, did it mean even the ’Three Friends of Winter’ were cowards? Liu laughed inwardly to himself.
The wooden city gates creaked open slowly, and eight Night Elf matriarchs along with Prince Moore Benitez, along with a ceremonial entourage, came forward to greet him, their faces full of hypocritical warmth, smiling from a distance.
"The eternal winds of Tamerlarya have finally blown you our way! My Richard!" Prince Benitez gave Liu a bear hug, in an exaggerated tone he exclaimed: "Oh my! Richard, I can hardly believe my eyes, your handsomeness now fills me with shame!"
"It must be the power of a foreign-born Elf at work!" Matriarch You Yue’er watched old Liu from the side, all smiles, with deep intoxicating eyes.
"Is that so?" Liu touched his nose, a flash of silver cross-star sparkling in his eyes, alluding to a flirtatious tease, sending a hot rush through the few Elven Matriarchs.
