Chapter 43: Diana’s Return

<September 25, Longham Wrestling Arena, Longham City>

"Hello folks, welcome to yet another weekly television of pro wrestling extravaganza. We are joining you live from Longham City. And this week’s edition of <Fyre> is promising to live up to the standard set by last week’s show."

"Joining me on the commentary table are Rob Williams and Dallas Moonbyte. We have a truly outstanding line-up waiting for you tonight," Irvin spoke his usual spiel welcoming everyone to the show.

Rob sat beside him a little nervous. Tonight was the night that things will come to a head in the Dacey-Diana storyline. They were set to cross paths for the first time since <Break Out> and the response to it will determine the standing of the feud on the card for <Last Stand>.

"That’s right folks. Tonight we have several marvelous matches lined up for you. Mark Weathers will team up with Marshall "The Headsmasher" Jones and will take on Patrick Sweene and Ryan Silverspike in our main event," Dallas announced the main event eliciting a great response from the crowd.

"This is the first time The Headsmasher will be wrestling inside an LWC ring. And it has been 4 years since he had stepped foot inside the squared circle," Irvin continued hyping the main event.

"And all that ring rust will come back to bite him in his ass. I am telling you, mark my words, Irvin, Mark Weathers has his job cut out for him tonight. He has to carry his entire team by himself. He can expect no help from an old washed-up wrestler like Marshall Jones," Rob chipped in with his usual acrimonious commentary.

"Not just that, things will be heating up in the women’s division as well. For the first time in months, Dacey Surestone will compete inside the squared circle against Joselyn Rivers, who made her debut two weeks ago," Irvin didn’t respond, rather went ahead to list out the next match in the line-up.

This time the crowd’s reaction was a bit more eager than the last one. From the looks of it, it was clear that the crowd was really looking forward to it.

"Things surely boiled over from last week. Joselyn Rivers demanded this match after the vicious attack from Dacey Surestone last week," Dallas said explaining the background a bit.

"And it is the greatest mistake of her life. The Goddess is going to rip her into shreds and make an example out of her for sure. I am telling you, Joselyn has made a mistake she shouldn’t make and had challenged the one person in LWC that is far above her league," Rob rounded the proceedings with thoughts of his own.

"Following that, we will have..."

Irvin went on to explain the list of matches that LWC was putting out tonight. Dallas and Rob would chip in occasionally by commenting on either the wrestlers involved or the match itself.

Just as Irvin’s introductions ended, Dacey’s music began to play. Rob had decided to put the match as the opening segment and he received great support from the back for it.

It was clear to everyone in LWC that Dacey’s segments usually brought a lot of traffic for the show. And that traffic usually stayed on for a long time even after the end of Dacey’s segments.

So, having it as an opening act always brought good ratings throughout the show. Dacey made her usual entrance with Rob professing his undying appreciation of the Goddess on the commentary.

Dacey didn’t immediately start out to prepare for the match. She grabbed a mic and stood in the center basking in the boos that were echoing in the arena at her presence.

Dacey waited a bit for the commotion to die down a little and began to cut a promo.

"These past two weeks, there have been a number of things that are irritating me a lot. I clearly stated I didn’t want those lame-ass shirts with my name on them being sold. But, what do you know? The company doesn’t listen to me. They want to squeeze the money out of all your grubby little paws that they even circumvented my lawyer’s letter."

Dacey said looking disgusted with the whole thing. The crowd showed their mind by starting to <Why Dacey Why!?> as soon as she paused. This led to Dacey looking around angrily at the crowd and walking around the ring picking fights with the crowd in the first row.

"See, see," Dacey said on the microphone after picking a few fights and exchanging verbal barbs with a few in the crowd. "This is exactly what I didn’t want. I knew you marks have no sense of respect for someone who has been working hard like me. And it is clear from your unruly attitude now."

The crowd booed in return to her statement. To which, Dacey acted as if she was exactly referring to that.

"However," the crowd quieted a bit as they listened to her speak. "However, while I can understand you uneducated savages acting disrespectfully to me, I can’t say the same to those inside the locker room."

Boos emerged as they realized whom she was referring to.

"In that locker room, I demand respect. In that backstage area, I demand acknowledgment of all the work I put in. And when I don’t get that, you better be prepared to face my wrath!"

Dacey yelled into the mic, causing the audience to boo loudly in return.

"Joselyn or Jasmine, whatever the hell her name is, is just a rookie. She had just stepped foot in this business. And newbies like her need to treat people like me with respect. I am the reason, that there is a women’s division even here in LWC. I am the reason, that little bitches like her get a chance. And by hell or high water, I will be respected and acknowledged for it."

"And if you don’t," Dacey smiled and shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "If you don’t, then you get taught a very, very, painful lesson."

Boos followed her statement causing the arena to be a cacophony of noises.

"And that lesson I taught her last week was just a small sample of what I could do to her. Unfortunately, she has a thick skull just like you all. She had demanded, I mean come on, demanded!!!" Dacey shook her head as if she couldn’t believe it.

"She has demanded to face Dacey Surestone, the forerunner of this women’s division, in a match inside this very ring. Can you believe that?" Dacey said looking around in a mocking manner.

"So, here’s what we are going to do. Joselyn, Jasmine, whatever the hell you are, you will now come out and publicly apologize to me, and then, then you can trot back to the little hidey hole you crawled out of."

"Trust me, you do not want to face someone like me inside this ring. If you do, I will end you. You and your pathetic little dream of becoming a wrestler will end tonight if you don’t come out and apologize to me now."

Boos began to erupt as Dacey finished her spiel and looked eagerly at the entrance ramp. She stood there as if she was waiting for the apology to be tendered and she had complete confidence that Joselyn would do exactly that.

Just then, Joselyn’s music hit. While no one recognized it as hers yet, everyone knew that it was going to be her that was going to come out. And Joselyn didn’t disappoint. She came out holding the microphone, in her in-ring attire, as she made her way towards the ring.

The crowd cheered for her as she made a beeline toward the ring. It was clear to everyone that she wasn’t here to apologize. And they loved her for that. They loved her for not caving in and instead standing up to Dacey.

The crowd had been sick of Dacey’s attitude for weeks now. And as the first person to stand up to her, Joselyn received a pretty great boost in popularity at this moment.

Joselyn stepped inside the ropes and looked at Dacey. Dacey stood there looking supremely confident that Joselyn was going to apologize. She looked as if she didn’t even entertain the possibility of Joselyn rejecting it.

Joselyn eyed Dacey for a while as the two stood facing each other for a minute or so. All this while, the crowd was going wild anticipating the violence that was going to occur soon.

After posing like that for a while, Joselyn raised her mic and spoke.

"The only apology you are going to get out of me is a boot to your ass, bitch!" Joselyn said shocking Dacey completely.

Dacey stood stock still as she realized what Joselyn’s answer meant. She couldn’t believe her ears. All the while, the crowd roared in appreciation for Joselyn’s boldness.

Joselyn let that sink in for a few moments before she threw the mic in her hands at a completely unprepared Dacey. As Dacey fumbled to catch it, Joselyn attack Dacey right in the face.

A flurry of punches was thrown in and Dacey was sent scrambling away from the ring. Dacey got outside of the ring trying to escape Joselyn’s mad attacks and looked up at Joselyn from outside the ring.

The duo started trash-talking as one of the officials rand down the ramp to act as the referee for this upcoming match. Meanwhile, Dacey could be seen outside pacing back and forth, like a caged animal, and shouting threats about ending Joselyn’s career.

Joselyn wasn’t backing down either as gestured for Dacey to step into the ring with her. She started goading Dacey much to the crowd’s delight. The crowd roared approvingly as the referee tried to control the situation and actively start the match.

The referee and a few other officials that came out brought order and officially started the match. The bell rang indicating the start of the match. The moment the bell rang, Joselyn was all over Dacey as she began to rain blow after blow at her.

Dacey could only try to defend herself from the flurry of the attacks. She slowly backed to the corner, causing the referee to interfere and back Joselyn away. The crowd roared heartily seeing Dacey get beaten up.

Joselyn was heatedly arguing with the referee who was explaining to her that she can’t continue to attack someone if their body touched the ropes. A frustrated Joselyn turned away from the referee and ran into a right hand from Dacey.

Dacey’s right hand stunned Joselyn a bit. It was enough for Dacey to take control and start working on Joselyn, much to the crowd’s annoyance. She slammed Joselyn a couple of times, suplexed her around the ring a bit, and even hit her with a few punches and kicks in between.

Every now and then, Dacey would stop and pose at the crowd eliciting their anger. The crowd could do nothing as they watched Dacey take apart Joselyn bit by bit and pose at them as if she was showing off her prowess to them.

Meanwhile, Rob was crowing in the commentary. He put over Dacey a lot and derided Joselyn for not being smart enough to take the Goddess’s mercy. He stressed that Joselyn brought this on herself by acting above her station. He didn’t forget to rile up Dallas on the other end as well.

Dacey remained in control of the match for a long while. The match was nearing its sixth minute when Joselyn made her comeback. Just as Dacey took too long to pose and then went for a suplex attempt, Joselyn countered and suplexed Dacey earning the approval of the crowd.

The crowd was entirely behind Joselyn as she regrouped and made her comeback. Joselyn hit Dacey with a flurry of offenses that kept Dacey reeling in shock. She used the ropes and added more speed and impact to her moves causing the crowd to roar in approval.

However, Joselyn’s inexperience came to bite her in the ass. At a particular moment, Dacey was laid out and Joselyn decided to climb to the top rope to do a finishing move.

However, Dacey recovered quickly and caught up to her before she could execute her move. Dacey, then proceeded to perform a superplex to Joselyn from the top rope, causing the crowd to groan in unison.

By now, the crowd realized that Dacey was going to win the match. Dacey didn’t keep them waiting long. She unveiled her new finisher and did a running stomp on Joselyn’s head causing the crowd to wince in sympathy.

She quickly covered Joselyn and earned the pinfall victory over her opponent. As she celebrated inside the ring much to the displeasure of the crowd, Rob was hyping up Dacey’s new finisher "The Goddess Stomp" to high heavens. He reiterated how devastating the move was and praised Dacey for coming up with such a great finisher.

Replays of the finisher were shown from multiple angles on the titantron as Rob hyped up the move. Meanwhile, Dallas stressed that the only reason Joselyn lost was her lack of experience and said that with experience, she will become a force to be reckoned with in the LWC women’s division.

He expressed high hopes for her future and once more stressed that experience was the only drawback she had in her right now. Irvin seemed to concur with his assessment, but Rob, as usual, sang in the other direction.

In the ring, Dacey finished her celebration and saw Joselyn stirring from the mat. She waited for the right opportunity and just as Joselyn tried to get up, she delivered another vicious stomp to her head causing it to bounce off the mat.

The crowd went silent seeing this after-match attack. They didn’t expect Dacey to attack her competitor even after she won the match. The official tried to get Dacey to leave, but Dacey pushed him away and headed outside. She started searching under the ring for something.

The crowd had no idea what she was trying to do now. They looked on anxiously as she rummaged under the ring. Dallas was disparaging Dacey’s actions on the commentary. Rob, however, spoke up in support and stressed that it was Joselyn’s fault this was happening to her.

Just as Dallas and Rob were getting into an argument, Dacey emerged from under the ring holding a steel chair in her hands. The crowd gasped seeing her holding a weapon in her hands. They knew whatever Dacey had in mind was not going to end well for Joselyn.

The referee tried to stop Dacey, but Dacey pushed him away and reentered the ring. By now, Joselyn was barely stirring and she was near to being knocked out cold on the mat. Dacey went ahead and placed the chair in the middle of the ring. She dragged Joselyn over and placed her head right above the chair.

The crowd now realized what evil intentions Dacey had and started booing. Dacey smiled diabolically and looked at the crowd. She flipped them off and lined up to take the shot.

As Joselyn began to slowly stir and rise from her position, Dacey prepared herself to deliver a ruthless stomp on Joselyn’s head to take her out. The crowd was booing Dacey very hard.

Just as it looked like Dacey was going to stomp Joselyn’s head in over the chair, Diana’s music hit the speakers causing the crowd to erupt in appreciation. Dacey looked unsure and looked at the entranceway in confusion.

Diana appeared amidst huge pop and ran toward the ring.
