Chapter 60: <Last Stand> - Part 2

"Regardless of how this pans out, we don’t have to wait a long time for it to begin. That’s right folks; the first match of the night is going to be Dacey Surestone challenging Diana Wharton for the LWC Women’s Championship. <Last Stand> is going to kick off with a banger folks," Irvin piped in to ease the situation a little bit.

"But, before we get there," Irvin continued. "Let’s see how it all began. At <Break Out>, at the end of the historic Triple Threat Match..."

The titantron came alive as a video package revealing the story of Dacey Surestone vs Diana Wharton started playing. The crowd was still fresh with energy and they were raring to go at this point.

With Dacey vs Diana being one of the main attractions for the event, seeing that video package air so soon made the crowd go nuts. However, within a few seconds, the arena became silent as the video package started rolling.

The video started not with the attack on Diana. The video began with clips of Dacey wrestling for LWC before her injury. It can be seen from the clips that it was the early stages of LWC.

There were hardly any people present as the audience as Dacey wrestled. As new clips popped up, the audience rate increased slowly. Dacey was seen wrestling amidst the growing audience passionately.

And the audience rate started picking up and Dacey was seen performing various high-risk maneuvers much to the enjoyment and cheering of the crowd. And then her injury was shown.

The voiceover changed here to the announcement of LWC’s TV deal by Mr. Gibson. Soon, the pictures changed to Diana performing in front of the crowd and earning their approval.

Later, it showed Dacey back from injury wrestling in front of the crowd. The reactions she garnered weren’t that big when it was compared to Diana wrestling in front of the same crowd.

Dacey was shown in the shadows as Diana rose to the spotlight.

Then, the video showed Diana’s open challenge that led to the Triple Threat Match. Even the clip of Dacey congratulating Diana was shown. But, this time, it had a sinister vibe to it.

Then came the ending of Triple Threat Match at <Break Out> and Dacey’s attack on Diana. Diana was shown carried out of the arena on a stretcher with blood all over her face.

Next, Dacey was in the spotlight where she railed against the crowd and flipped them off. Her attack on Joselyn was also shown. Which was followed up with their match.

Dacey planning to end Joselyn’s career was also shown with a sinister vibe as well. And when Diana rushed to the rescue and the crowd roared, while Dacey retreated was also shown in bright colors highlighting who the villain and the hero of the story was.

The video ended with Diana confronting Mr. Gibson, Dacey’s rant, and their face-off just three days ago when the match was finalized by the two competitors. As the black screen came into effect, Dacey’s voice echoed in the soundtrack.

"This Sunday, at <Last Stand>, I am gonna pin you 1...2...3... and I am gonna take back what was originally mine all along. I am gonna show you that you are not the best and you will never be able to lace my boots or fill my shoes. Enjoy your time with that belt, Diana. Because <Last Stand> will be your last day as LWC Women’s Champion."

Silenced reigned in the crowd as Dacey’s last words echoed throughout the arena. Immediately following that, the crowd started to come alive as boos and jeers mixed with sporadic cheers spread through the crowd.

It was clear from the onset whose side the crowd was on. Rob had been a little worried that heading into the fight the buildup had been onesided mostly. Dacey was the one that was featured mostly as Rob wanted to establish her character firmly in the audience.

However, it led to less time for Diana to shine. Not to mention the sudden change to the main event two weeks prior. Initially, the plan was to let them duke it out on the mic with Diana coming out on top.

But, with the change in schedule, Rob had decided to focus on the storyline revolving around Mr. Gibson and Dacey as he felt it had more meat and impact to it. Hence, Diana’s time was reduced in that segment letting Dacey face off against Mr. Gibson instead of Diana.

He had been worried that featuring Diana less might have skewed the audience’s perception a little. But, it seemed like Diana’s popularity with the crowd was really high. Even though Dacey was making waves, Diana was also making a good impact on the crowd.

Rob thought that most of it could be attributed to the sympathy points she scored on <Break Out>. Not to mention her consistence performance and tremendous in-ring skill. Even at <Break Out>, Diana had been amazing as a whole.

Until now, the crowd had been hating Dacey for attacking Diana in a despicable way. It also played into Diana’s popularity. But, it was going to change tonight. People will hate Dacey because she is Dacey and there would be no dastardly thing she wouldn’t do to get her way.

It will relieve him of the pressure to expose Dacey more and provide him ample opportunity to build up Diana over the next few weeks. Diana’s popularity was going to take a hit in this match, but if the build-up was right, she could bounce back even stronger.

The first person to come out of the curtain was Diana. Normally, challengers will emerge before the champion. But, Rob felt that opening with Diana will mobilize the crowd more.

And he didn’t want Diana to be affected by the leftover heat on Dacey. Dacey was surely going to cause a lot of boos. And if Diana emerged after her, it might affect her reception as well. So, to be safe and also to mobilize the crowd, Rob sent Diana out first.

And Diana didn’t disappoint either.

The moment her music hit, the crowd was on their feet chanting her name fervently. The energy in the arena exploded causing Rob to almost feel as if he had gone deaf. Diana made her entrance to a tremendous ovation marking a good start for the match and the entire PPV.

Sitting beside Rob, Dallas looked as if he was about to burst. Being a long-time veteran of LWC and the wrestling business in general, Dallas was ecstatic to see Diana being so over with the crowd.

"I hope you don’t fuck up her booking, boy. That girl over there is really over with the crowd," Dallas whispered to Rob as Diana made her entrance. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Don’t worry, if everything pans out right, I am confident that she will be even more over than she is now," Rob assured him with a smile.

"Let’s hope so," Dallas nodded leaning back.

"Let’s concentrate on our jobs guys," Irvin said bringing the trio’s attention toward the ring.

As Diana posed in the ring, Irvin started talking about Diana’s accomplishments and lauded her as a great champion, putting her over. The crowd slowly calmed down and turned to look at the curtain.

One could cut the tension in the air with a knife at that moment. The crowd knew who would emerge next. They wanted her to come out quickly so that they can boo her out of the building. The anticipation started to build.

Dacey’s new music hit and the crowd started booing her from the get-go.

Dacey didn’t disappoint the crowd’s expectations either. She came out with an over-the-top hairdo and blinding dress that was particularly designed to put people off. Not in a bad way, but it just made them go, ’What the hell was that?’. Dacey and Rob had spent hours devising this costume to make sure it had that certain effect.

Dacey’s costume was Flamboyant with a capital F in it. It was truly over the top. With frills and high neck collars, Dacey looked as if she was debuting for a ball, instead of wrestling.

No wrestler had ever made an entrance with such a dress. It screamed vanity to the audience. And, as expected, the audience didn’t like it. Sure, they liked the dress. But, they felt that it was inappropriate and overly egoistic of her to dress in that fashion.

Compared to Diana, who had a practical outfit over her ring gear, Dacey’s outfit screamed narcissism to the crowd. Not to mention the words that were embroidered on the back.

The moment Dacey turned around and posed on the entrance ramp, the crowd started jeering vehemently. This was Rob’s idea to be exact. He had decided to needle the crowd from the get-go.

<You Are All Beneath Me...>

These were the words that were embroidered on the back of Dacey’s flamboyant outfit. If the glittering colors and the lavish frills didn’t put people off, these words will definitely irritate them for sure.

"How narcissistic of her to boldly wear with something like that written on it? She has truly crossed the line here. And the crowd seemed to be not pleased with it either," Dallas spoke agitatedly on cue as the camera zoomed in on Dacey’s back.

"Come off it, Dallas. She is the Goddess. And everyone is beneath her. She is only telling the truth here," Rob defended Dacey immediately.

"To me, it screams that she is egotistic enough to believe that hype. She is no one’s Goddess apart from yours," Dallas shot back angrily.

"What would an old man like you know, Dallas? There are countless young males and females who worship Dacey Surestone as the Goddess just like me. And Dacey going out of her way to acknowledge our feelings is a gift from her. Do not ruin the moment for us," Rob shouted angrily.

By now, the crowd had started to cool off a little as Dacey had made her way into the ring. It is not that they didn’t want to boo her, but they were more eager to see her square up against Diana.

Soon the ring announcer took the center stage and announced the fight causing cheers to erupt through the crowd. The crowd booed when Dacey’s name was mentioned causing Dacey to turn around and flip the crowd off. The boos intensified at that moment to a whole new level.

However, when Diana’s name was announced, the crowd cheered her on heartily. Diana acknowledged the crowd by raising her championship and posing with it for a while.

The belt was handed over to the referee and the crowd became silent as they realized what they were waiting for had finally arrived. The referee came to the middle and signaled the bell to ring, starting the match.

The moment bell rang, Dacey and Diana started circling each other warily. Diana was a little bolder in her approach as she initiated the gesture for a lock-up. Dacey followed it.

But, just as they neared and the crowd started cheering, Dacey backed out of it and moved back causing the lock-up to fail. The crowd started booing her, but Dacey didn’t seem to mind it.

She once more circled around and went in for the lock-up. This time the lock-up connected much to the crowd’s enthusiasm. Diana and Dacey tried to overpower each other a bit.

Dacey seemed to have the upper hand much to the crowd’s displeasure in the initial moments. But, Diana quickly leveraged the pressure and threw Dacey to the mat much to the crowd’s enthusiasm.

Dacey scowled from the mat and dusted imaginary dirt off. As Diana taunted for her to lock up again, Dacey warily once more circled and locked up.

The same sequence of Dacey getting the initial upper hand and Diana throwing her mat after that using leverage once more appeared. This time Dacey slapped the mat in frustration and rolled out of the ring.

As she walked around the ring obviously upset with the outcome so far, the crowd in the front row started heckling her. Dacey didn’t let them off either. She marched to a man standing in the front row, grabbed his beer cup, and poured it all over his head.

The audience was stunned for a moment by that audacious display of heel maneuver. They have never seen something like this before this. None of the wrestlers had ever behaved in such a fashion to the audience.

Dacey followed it up by flipping the man off. The crowd who had been stunned into silence till then started coming out of their stupor. They started booing and jeering at Dacey.

While the crowd as a whole booed and jeered her, the people next to the man started mocking and laughing up a storm embarrassing him. Diana, who had been watching this whole sequence, from inside the ring decided that it was high time that she stopped Dacey.

Diana rolled out of the ring and came at Dacey like an angry bear. She was spitting words and gestures as she marched towards Dacey. The crowd erupted seeing Diana standing up to Dacey.

Dacey didn’t wait for Diana to approach. As soon as she saw Diana marching towards her angrily, Dacey hightailed to the other side of the ring. Diana chased after her causing the crowd to cheer happily.

Dacey rolled into the ring. Diana followed her only for Dacey to pounce on her. Dacey started kicking Diana mercilessly as Diana tried to enter the ring. Despite the crowd’s booing, Dacey didn’t let up. She stomped a mudhole in Diana.

The referee had to interfere seeing Dacey wasn’t planning to stop. As Diana’s legs were under the rope, it constituted a Rope Break. A Rope Break essentially meant that a wrestler has to stop attacking the opposition if their body part was touching or under the ring ropes.

The referee pulled Dacey away and warned her, but Dacey didn’t pay much attention to him. Dacey grabbed Diana by the hair and started shouting in her face much to the displeasure of the crowd.

Dacey followed it up by suplexing Diana and starting the match properly...

Jason stood stunned as he felt his drink dripping down from his head. He looked around shell-shocked, not able to believe that Dacey Surestone just poured beer on his head.

Malora and the others beside him were laughing it up. Especially Malora, she was almost in stitches. Logan was patting him on the back consolingly, but there was mirth visible in his eyes.

Nelson and Todd were heckling him.

"Serves you right, dumbass," Malora chuckled seeing Jason’s shocked appearance. "Who asked you to heckle her?"

"Come on, the entire crowd was jeering her," Jason said shaking his head.

"Ha ha ha... But, it wasn’t them who got beer poured on their head!!!" Malora shot back laughing causing Jason to scowl at her.

"She flipped you off directly in your face. Man, that was so epic!" Logan chuckled beside him causing Jason to shoot a mock glare at him as well.

"I bet you my entire poster collection that Rob was the one who put that idea in her head," Nelson laughed uproariously.

"I am not taking it. Knowing Rob, he might have actually instructed her to do it to the first person she came across. And you, my friend, became that person," Todd said clapping Jason’s back.

"Still want me to introduce you to Rob?" Nelson asked jokingly.

"Why not? Introduce me to him. He and I are going to have words," Jason postured.

Everyone laughed at that.

"After I hug the stuffing out of him," Jason finished causing others to look at him weirdly.

"Ew!!! Get your mind off the gutter. I just want to thank him. You know? I have been attending wrestling events for a long time. But, this is the best moment I have had in my entire life so far. I can talk about this to my kids, man," Jason said explaining himself.

"Wait, wait! Are you fine with this? I mean, she poured beer on your head," Malora asked curiously.

"Come off it, Malora. How many people do you think can boast about having such an interaction with a wrestler," Logan chimed sending an understanding smile to Jason. "I bet, half the people in here would be fine with it as long as they get to boast about it."

"Totally," Jason replied smiling brightly.

"And they even connected it with the match seamlessly," Todd said from the side looking at Dacey kicking Diana. "This is some next-level stuff."

"Oh, what happened?" Jason asked as he had not been paying attention for the last minute.

"Diana came out of the ring to confront Dacey for pouring beer on your head, Dacey pretended to backtrack and lured her into chasing her. She got into the ring and when Diana tried to get in, she pounced on her," Todd explained succinctly causing Jason’s jaw to drop.

"You can do that?"

"Apparently," Todd shrugged turning his attention towards the match. "That is some good stuff. I gotta admit."

"No way! I now have participated in a match!!!!" Jason screamed excitedly.

"What are you blabbering about? When did you do that?" Malora shot him a confused look.

"See, the reason Diana is getting beat up is because of me. I caused that," Jason said excitedly.

Malora and others shot him a withering look.

"Dumbass," Malora muttered shaking her head.

"Say what you want, I participated. I caused Dacey to beat up Diana. That’s the end of the story," Jason said staunchly causing Logan to chuckle.

"Don’t laugh at me, you idiot. I bet you would say the same if it was you in my position," Jason ruthlessly shot him down causing Logan to lose it and laugh uproariously.

"Enough fooling around, you dumbass. You do realize that you are going to be here with beer on your body for the entire night, right?" Malora shut him down unceremoniously causing Jason’s jaw to drop open.

He looked around foolishly as everyone around him laughed.

"Oh, man!!!" Jason grouched. "But, I still think it was worth it."

Malora’s eyes had a strange glint hearing that statement.
