Booking Glory-Chapter 85: Brent Meets Dacey
Arriving at the location, Rob spied Brent’s car actually following him. He ignored Brent and stood there waiting for a taxi to come by. As it was Sunday, the traffic was really not that big. Most people were staying indoors or at church by this time.
Rob waited for over five minutes, but no taxi came making him check the time repeatedly. He knew that turning up late would further irritate Dacey. She seemed to be a little upset with him already. He didn’t want to aggravate her further.
"You know, if you had got on, we would be already on the way now," Brent’s sarcastic voice broke his train of thought causing Rob to turn and scowl at him.
"Brent, you are like a burr. Pretty irritating to have around," Rob said a bit irritatedly.
"Hey, come on. I am being a good buddy here. Just hop in. It is Sunday. Who knows when the next taxi is going to come around?" Brent said smiling at Rob.
As much as Rob hated it, Brent kind of had a point. He didn’t know when the next taxi was going to come around. If it took too long, he would then run late. That was not a good place to be.
It would be better to just hop in Brent’s car and let him give him a ride. But, he wasn’t entirely sure about Brent meeting Dacey. That thought spelled trouble on various levels. But, it was not as if he had several choices here.
Compared to Dacey being mad at him, an awkward conversation with Brent sounded fine. Having made the decision in his mind, Rob walked over and got in Brent’s car.
"That’s what I am talking about," Brent smiled happily. "I knew you would come around."
"Ok, first ground rules," Rob said seriously looking at Brent. Brent merely smiled and nodded. "First off, no embarrassing me in front of her. Second, whatever happens, I want you to remain calm and not flip out. Last but not least, no fanboying. Abso-fucking-lutely no fanboying."
Rob said sternly and looked at Brent.
"Come on, I know how to conduct myself. You don’t need to be worried. What would I even flip out about? I am going to drop you off, get a look at your girl so that I could keep an eye on you, and drive off," Brent said smiling brightly.
"Well, get a move on then," Rob grumbled already anticipating Brent flipping out when he realized who he was dating.
Rob had to admit, a part of him was really looking forward to it as well. He just couldn’t wait to rub it in Brent’s face before driving him off.
*****
"I have to say, I didn’t expect your girl to live in such a nice area," Brent said looking around the locality where Dacey had moved in recently. "How did you even manage to bag a girl from this locality? Having a powerful position does come in handy, eh?"
"Can you shut your gob and drive? Not everyone is as desperate as you. When was the last time you even had a date?" Rob retorted.
"Hey, no need to be nasty man," Brent said looking at Rob. "I was just curious."
"As I said, don’t embarrass me by opening your mouth and spewing such bullshit later," Rob commented not giving Brent any respite. "For your record, I knew her before she moved in here."
"Hmmm, so you say, so you say," Brent said not believing him. "I mean, do people who live in this neighborhood even become professional wrestlers?"
"You would be surprised who all want to be pro wrestlers. It is not about the place. It is about the passion in your heart," Rob said looking around. "Take a right over there."
He had to admit. If he didn’t know Dacey stayed here, even he would think the same about this locality. This place looked as if filled with people who were a little well-off. People from this locality mostly were fans instead of performers.
"Hmmm, I can get behind that," Brent grunted turning a corner. "Are you sure this is the right place?"
"I have been here before to drop her off," Rob said not paying much attention to Brent.
"All right, all right, don’t need to be so snippy like a chick," Brent said exhaustedly.
"Pull up there," Rob said pointing at Dacey’s house.
Rob got out of the car and looked at Dacey’s house. The door was locked, but he could see through the windows that someone was pacing anxiously inside. He checked the time and found he had barely made it with a few minutes to spare.
He inwardly shuddered as he imagined waiting for a taxi and arriving late. Things with Dacey had been slightly jerky since yesterday. He didn’t know why Dacey was nitpicking things of late but felt that there was some underlying reason that he wasn’t getting.
As for what that reason was, Rob knew that trying to figure out what caused a female to become irritated with you would always be a futile endeavor. While he didn’t have much dating experience after transmigrating, his past life experiences were enough for him to know that.
The best way to handle this was to roll with the punches and just be patient. Whatever was bothering a female would eventually run out and things would come back to normal within a week or two. If it was more than that, then it was time to reevaluate the relationship as the chances of getting dumped increased if that was the case.
Preparing himself to face Dacey’s remarks, Rob walked up to the door and pressed the calling bell. He turned back and saw that Brent was sitting in his car with no intention of getting out and felt some relief over that.
Soon, Rob heard footsteps approaching the door from the other side. Dacey opened the door slightly and looked at him. He gave her a smile and nod. Her eyes critically looked at him from head to toe, before giving a nod back.
"Wait a minute, I will get my purse," Dacey said turning around, but suddenly stopped as if realizing something. "Do you wanna come in?"
"Maybe when we return," Rob said knowing full well that Dacey was merely being polite with that question. "I will wait here. You get your purse, I will send off the ride I came here in."
Dacey nodded and closed the door. Rob could hear her hurrying behind the door. He let out a huge sigh of relief. He felt that he had dodged a bullet there. He was sure he would have been in for it if he had been late. As much as it pained him, he had to thank Brent for bringing him here on time.
Rob stepped away from the door and walked to the car. He neared it and looked at Brent expectantly. Brent was looking at him in confusion.
"Well, what are you waiting for? You have seen her, now get lost," Rob grumbled at him.
"Pfft, I didn’t see her face clearly. She didn’t even open the door wide. Are you sure you are dating her for a week?" Brent countered cheekily.
"Whatever, now get lost," Rob urged once more.
"Man, you seem very keen on driving me away. Don’t worry, I will not be the third wheel here. You don’t need to worry about me. I am merely curious to see who your girl is. Maybe, I will buy some of her merchandise and talk highly about her to my friends to help her popularity," Brent replied not making any moves to start the car.
Rob felt like shouting that he was already buying a lot of it and that was the reason he didn’t want him to see her. But, he throttled the urge and smiled at Brent cruelly.
Fine, if Brent wanted that badly to be shell-shocked, who was he to deny it? He was going to enjoy watching Brent splutter indignantly when he realized who his girl was.
"Why are you smiling at me like that? I don’t like that smile. It is creepy. It is as if you want to beat me up," Brent said looking at Rob weirdly. "I am telling you, I am not moving a single inch witho..."
Brent trailed off suddenly. His face went through a myriad of emotions. First came the surprise, then joy, then the realization stuck him making him be shocked and dumbfounded. He spluttered not able to form any words.
Rob enjoyed Brent’s reaction with a perverse glee in his heart. His smile broadened and he felt like dancing a jig, right on the spot in front of Brent’s shocked face.
He knew why Brent’s words trailed off. While he was speaking, he heard Dacey’s door open and shut. He knew that Dacey was now visible to Brent and it was seeing Dacey that made Brent unable to speak.
"Go on, talk," Rob egged Brent on.
"Rob, can we go? Is that your ride?" Dacey came over and looked at Brent sitting in his car.
"Nah, I just hitchhiked here. We can get a taxi. By the way, thanks for dropping me, sir. I wish you the best of the morning," Rob said smoothly turning to Brent smirking.
"Um... u..,." Brent mumbled incoherently seeing Rob’s smirk.
"Well, let’s get going, Dacey. I think I overslept last night," Rob said turning to Dacey and completely ignoring Brent. "Do you think we have enough time to pick a car and go to a movie?"
Rob said putting a hand around Dacey’s hip possessively and bringing her close. Dacey shot him a skeptical look and looked down at Rob’s hand that was enveloping her.
Rob acted as if he didn’t notice that look. He knew that he was being a little forward at this time, but it felt damn good to do that in front of Brent. He had been yearning to rub this in Brent’s face ever since he said that Rob didn’t have a chance with his Goddess.
"And whose fault is that?" Dacey asked raising an eyebrow, but she didn’t comment on Rob’s actions.
"Mine, entirely mine," Rob smiled brightly seeing that Dacey wasn’t objecting to his hand around her hip. It would have become awkward if she had done that. Brent would never let him live that down.
"So, shall we move, my Goddess?" Rob asked cheekily causing Dacey to blush and nod.
Rob turned Dacey around and started making his way to the place Dacey usually got a taxi. After moving a few yards he turned and looked at Brent’s shell-shocked form. He gave Brent a cocky smirk and raised his middle finger behind Dacey’s back in Brent’s direction for good measure.

Brent watched the duo disappear from his sight as they turned the street corner and came back to reality. He felt as if someone had taken his beautiful dream and turned it into a nightmare.
He had always fantasized about meeting Dacey Surestone, his favorite female wrestler. He had fantasized about how he would impress her with his devotion and stuff. But now, Rob had turned that fantasy into a nightmare within a few minutes.
He felt as if there was something wrong with the world. If not, how could such a beautiful lady like Dacey Surestone end up dating an asshole like Rob? He felt that someone had picked up a beautiful flower and put it next to cow dung. It really felt unbearable.
Remembering Rob’s smug face as he embraced his Goddess right in front of his eyes, Brent felt like beating him up black and blue. Brent gritted his teeth and shook his head to clear that image from his memory, but it stayed there stuck like an irritating itch.
"Asshole," Brent murmured under his breath. "Fuck! I need a strong drink now."
A few moments later, Brent flipped out and started banging the steering wheel with his clenched fists hard.
"Rob, you asshole! The next time I see you I am going to bash you till you beg for profaning my Goddess! You are not worthy! You are not worthy!"
Brent roared loudly in his car, causing the passersby to look at him as if he was some deranged individual. It only aggravated Brent further. He vowed to make Rob pay for this and left the area in a hurry.

"Ok, what’s the matter? You have been smiling like a loon ever since we got inside the taxi," Dacey asked looking at Rob.
"Oh nothing, nothing at all," Rob’s smile only brightened hearing that.
"Come on," Dacey said shoving him a little.
"Well, I am just imagining the look of certain someone right now," Rob said mysteriously and cackled a bit.
"Can you be a little clear?" Dacey asked in annoyance. She reached out and pinched Rob slightly.
"Fine, fine, I will tell," Rob said raising his hands in surrender. "The person who was in the car was the friend I went to check up on last night. He dropped me off at your place."
"I don’t see what’s funny about that," Dacey said in confusion.
"His name is Brent," Rob continued smiling from ear to ear still. "And he is a die-hard fan of Dacey Surestone."
Dacey’s mouth dropped open in surprise and she looked at Rob sharply.
"I am still not getting the funny part here," Dacey said narrowing her eyes.
"Hmmm, it’s just yesterday he said that I would never have a chance with you," Rob said cheekily. "If you ask him, there is no one in this world that deserves to be with you. You are his Goddess..." Rob dragged the last word causing Dacey to blush deeply.
Suddenly, Dacey looked at Rob as if she realized something and narrowed her eyes at him.
"Is that why you hugged my waist in front of him?" Dacey asked arching her eyebrows.
"It would have been better if it was a kiss," Rob didn’t deny but replied cheekily.
Dacey snorted hearing his reply.
"If he was your friend, why didn’t you introduce me to him?" Dacey asked in confusion.
"Are you kidding? If I had done that, it would be hard to get away from him after that. Do you know that he had bought every one of your merchandise already? He even pestered me for one of the Original 500. Forget autographs, he would be running after you for the entire day, if we let him," Rob snorted.
"Does he like me that much?" Dacey asked in surprise.
"Let me give you an example of how much he likes you. I was supposed to come to your place in a taxi. But, he volunteered to drop me off so that he can get a good look at who I am dating," Rob said causing Dacey to furrow her eyes in confusion.
"The reason for it," Rob continued, "he wanted to see the face of the woman I am dating. So that, if she beat you down the line he would know that I am abusing my power. He is that crazy about you."
Dacey looked at him in surprise.
"You are joking, right? How can someone be that crazy about me? I am just getting popular." Dacey asked not believing him.
"Absolutely not," Rob shook his head negatively. "Trust me, he has a full-sized poster of you in his home. I have personally seen it. Now that I think about it, I am going to rip it off his wall the next time I visit."
"You stay away from my fans, Rob Williams. Don’t go terrorizing them now that you are dating me. Do you hear me?" Dacey threatened Rob with no heat in her words.
"We will see," Rob said not committing to it.
The mere idea of Brent mooning over Dacey didn’t sit well with him anymore. If it was just mooning over, then it would be fine. He knew full well what kind of stuff guys did with posters of famous women. He wasn’t going to sit back and let it happen now that he was with Dacey.
At least, not with Brent.
