Booking Glory-Chapter 91: [Bonus - ] Starmaker
<Rob Williams – The Emerging Starmaker!>
A picture frame with four photos was seen below the title. In one Selena Sanchez was bowing toward the crowd as they gave a standing ovation. In another, Evelyn Carter was being heckled by the fans as she was escorted backstage by security.
The final two pictures showcased Dacey Surestone and Diana Wharton. Dacey’s picture was her iconic flipping-the-crowd moment. Diana’s picture was her throwing a smirk at Dacey while being escorted out of the arena by cops in handcuffs.
[Wrestling as an industry has been stale for a long time. There have been no new innovations, no new match types, and no new exciting features that could grab the crowd’s attention and make them go wow!
For the past few years, the industry has been a stagnant pool with nothing exciting happening. Gone were the days when Steven Rush, the genius booker, broke into the scene of professional wrestling and dazzled us with a variety of never before seen match types and ideas.
Now with Steven Rush moving on in age and the top promotions being a literal mess, there has been a worrying trend of repeating the same old formulas and maintaining what worked wonders a decade ago.
The only changes the top promotions were willing to make were to introduce new wrestlers periodically. Even that was hit-and-miss in several cases. By only changing the wrestlers who wrestle and giving us the same content again and again, wrestling promotions have successfully relegated the industry to a niche trend among sports fans.
One would think that sticking with old formulas was the right way to move forward. After all, they provide good stability and if a change is needed they can always introduce a new face to the roster and hype them up.
Unfortunately for us fans and the wrestling industry in general this had been the state of things for a few years now. Almost half a decade has gone by since we saw something new and exciting. Being faithful fans we have endured this for a long while. But, is this the right attitude to have?
Naysayers may say that stability is the key to success.
But, what the wrestling promotions have been giving us of late is like being served old dishes with new wrappings. The stuff is decent and digestible, but it doesn’t make it right, does it?
Enter, Rob Williams, a 20-year-old wrestling fanatic with a ton of ideas that could potentially revolutionize the entire business.
Ever since he burst into the scene with LWC and was handed the reins to book their decaying women’s division, the man has been on fire. In his hands, the decaying women’s division of LWC had undergone a tremendous change and had gotten a new lease on life.
From the moment Rob Williams took charge, the LWC women’s division has been firing on all cylinders. Whether from storyline perspectives or in-ring extravaganza, the LWC women’s division has been delivering top-notch content non-stop.
The first match that Rob Williams booked for LWC after he took charge showed his broad vision and his desire to innovate the stale product that was being served to the fans. That’s right fans, the first-ever match Rob Williams booked caused a huge stir in the wrestling community as a whole.
For the match he booked was the historic first-ever Triple Threat Match!!!
In one go, Rob Williams managed to deliver us a never before seen match type and revitalize the interest in the LWC women’s division. The match went on to become a huge crowd favorite and garnered so much interest that the LWC is currently planning to put out a Triple Threat Match for their ultimate prize the LWC World Championship itself for their upcoming PPV.
Such is the impact of Rob Williams’s entry into the scene.
Rob Williams’s bold vision just doesn’t end there. With a never before seen storytelling method, Rob Williams then went on to create four huge stars for the LWC women’s division. Dacey Surestone, Diana Wharton, Evelyn Carter, and Selena Sanchez have emerged out of the woodwork and have won the hearts of the audience in just a few months. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
It is widely known that for a star to be born it would take at least half a year to one year depending upon the charisma of the star. Sometimes, despite the promotion heavily pushing a certain wrestler, they just couldn’t connect with the audience.
So, the general consensus among industry insiders is that creating a star takes a lot of time and effort and even then it is not a guaranteed prospect. However, Rob Williams seems to laugh in the face of such arguments.
In mere four months, Rob Williams has created four stars out of nowhere for the LWC women’s division. Among them, the former LWC Women’s Champion Diana Wharton was the only one who had some fan following before Rob Williams took charge.
Things aren’t the same now. Dacey Surestone and Diana Wharton’s rivalry and feud for the LWC Women’s Championship has garnered a lot of eyes. Their feud is red hot and every week the tension between them seems to rise to a whole new level.
The beauty of this story is that there is also a subtle undercurrent of tension playing out between Diana Wharton, Mr. Gibson, and Dacey Surestone. With Mr. Gibson being the mentor of Dacey Surestone and the owner of LWC, Diana Wharton’s distrust of him seems logical.
However, things aren’t smooth between Dacey Surestone and Mr. Gibson either. Their relationship is rocky and no one knows who Mr. Gibson is supporting at the moment. With such a complicated storyline playing out, the two women have dazzled the audience with powerful moments one after the other.
Rob Williams’s clever portrayal of Dacey Surestone as a cowardly, narcissistic villain, has gained huge popularity with the audience. This type of character has never been portrayed before and the freshness alone makes her interesting to the viewers.
Whether it be her rebellious theme song, narcissistic attitude, rivalry with fans, and constant use of underhanded methods, everything about the character screams interesting.
Likewise, the change in Diana Wharton’s character has also been interesting to see. From being a victim of a sneak attack to coming back for revenge, only to be cheated out of her title, Diana garnered a lot of sympathy amidst the crowd. But, her recent shift to be a more edgy character in order to get back her title has also been a boon to watch.
From being an honorable and upstanding champion to becoming a rebellious contender, Diana Wharton’s character has won the hearts of people out and over. The sheer charisma she oozes on screen and in person has catapulted her career to the next level.
If it was just these two women making their mark, it might be considered an aspect of luck. However, Rob Williams proved last night that he has a lot of tricks up his sleeve and his magic is far from over.
Last night, the heated tension between Evelyn Carter and Selena Sanchez came to a head in a Falls Count Anywhere match. To see two ladies duke it out in a Falls Count Anywhere match itself was a huge surprise, but if you thought this match would be tame, then you would be dead wrong.
The encounter between Evelyn Carter and Selena Sanchez last night was one of the best Falls Count Anywhere matches I have witnessed in my entire life. The sheer brutality on display and the way those two wrestlers performed almost made me cry with joy.
Not to mention the top-notch character work that was on display during the match. Heading into the match, the crowd was behind both Selena and Evelyn in equal amounts. But, Rob Williams’ clever booking of the match changed the landscape entirely.
By the end of the match, the crowd hated Evelyn so much that several audience members were contemplating jumping the guardrail and attacking her outright. Selena, on the other hand, became the huge winner of the night despite losing to Evelyn in her match.
The above picture is proof of how the night ended for her. In one night, both Evelyn and Selena have been catapulted to stardom in the hands of Rob Williams. After all, who could ask more than an entire arena of fans to give you a standing ovation?
There has been no other booker after Steven Rush who had shown such promise and the ability to create stars out of nowhere like Rob Williams. And if you think that was the extent of his talents, then you would be dead wrong once again.
Rob Williams is now part of the iconic commentary team in LWC. His on-air rivalry with Dallas Moonbyte is hilarious to hear and watch. Their antics elevate the show to a whole new level. If you haven’t checked it out, you have missed out on a tremendous innovation of on-air commentary.
From storytelling to match presentation, Rob Williams has shown his extraordinary skills and innovative capabilities in a unique manner. In the commentary, he revolutionized the stale style of reporting and created a unique way of entertaining audience as well.
From creating stars to revolutionizing the product, Rob Williams has done everything one could ask of him. It is not much of a stretch at this point to say that Rob Williams is the next big thing in the wrestling world.
It is no wonder that Steven Rush and Willy Wagner are gung-ho in acquiring Rob Williams’ service for their new promotion that they are going to establish soon. Reports state that a meeting has taken place between the trio where they discussed undisclosed particulars for over an hour. It is clear from this that the dynamic duo of Steven Rush and Willy Wagner want to rope in the budding genius Rob Williams.
However, sources close to Rob Williams say that he has no plans to shift from LWC in the immediate future. As to the rumors about offers from Steven Rush, the sources refute the possibility and claim that Rob Williams hasn’t received any such thing.
Regardless, the emergence of Rob Williams promises to be a beneficial thing for the wrestling community as a whole. If he keeps up with this level of output, the revitalization of the entire industry does not need to wait for long.

With the release of the news report, the entire LWC was in a huge buzz. Never has an entire editorial been dedicated to LWC as a whole. Apart from weekly reports and updates, there was little mention of LWC in newspapers.
Even if Mr. Gibson had good contacts with reporters in general, he couldn’t get them to write an editorial about LWC. The most he could do was to get them to give a favorable review and praise a few performers in their report.
Getting an editorial approved was not small stuff. For one, there must be enough justification and interest in the topic to even consider writing one. After that, there must be enough points for the editorial to write about.
Moreover, an editorial in the highest recommendation a newspaper could offer. So, the newspapers will always be stingy with doling them out if it is about a certain star or a promotion.
For one, if the points made in the editorial are not justifiable enough, the newspaper would receive a huge backlash from its readers. So, putting out promotional content or overpraising someone are not things newspapers would like to do in editorials.
Hence, it was a huge thing for LWC to be featured in the editorial section of a prominent newspaper in the wrestling circle. Even if Todd wanted to write stuff about Rob for a long time, the newspaper hadn’t approved of the topic till now.
Only after last night, did they give a go-ahead and told him what to focus on. The newspaper had its own reasons and reservations. As an employee, Todd has to work with it as well. Still, it was a huge thing to even be given the go-ahead.
As things were abuzz in LWC, the rowdiest region in the company was the women’s locker room. The entire women’s division was currently crowded over the single newspaper Alanna had gotten her hands on somehow.
"Look at Selena," Alanna exclaimed pointing at Selena’s picture. "My god, are you crying?"
"No!" Selena defended herself by shaking her head vigorously. "I was just overwhelmed."
"She is definitely crying," Evelyn piped in from the side. "And I was the one who made her cry."
"Get lost!" Selena swatted Evelyn and buried her face in her hands as the other laughed happily.
"Can’t you see how scary I look? They needed that many men to get me backstage. I sure look powerful in this picture," Evelyn said admiring her photo.
"Ya," the other agreed. "You look total badass."
"Nah, I think Dacey’s picture is the real badass one," Alanna said pointing at Dacey flipping off the crowd. "Gosh, she looks way too cool in that."
"Don’t forget Diana. She has the coolest picture. With cops escorting her out and that smirk on her face while Dacey goes through a meltdown," Fiona said staring at Diana’s picture enviously. "When am I going to be showcased like that?"
"Yeah," Alanna said wistfully. "I too want my photo on the front page like theirs. Only, I want mine to occupy the entire front page."
"Dream on," Evelyn snorted. "Anyway, there is no use in envying us. You need to hound Rob to book you in a powerful manner."
"Right, where is that bastard? I am going to find him and make him book me properly so I also become as popular as you lot," Alanna said mock-angrily.
"Who are you calling bastard?" Dacey shouted from the back causing others to chuckle. "Wait till I tell him that."
"Dacey!!!" Alanna exclaimed sheepishly. "Don’t tell him that. Then that idiot would book me to lose continuously."
"Come on, he isn’t that petty," Dacey defended Rob.
"Look at that, you are already starting to defend him. You guys have been dating for just two weeks now. Isn’t this too soon? What about our years of friendship?" Alanna pouted.
"Well, you aren’t the one giving her the good times, are you?" Diana chimed in with a smirk causing Dacey to blush.
"I can try, if you are game for it," Alanna smirked evilly causing others to howl in laughter.
"Shut up, you annoying beanpole," Dacey said in embarrassment. "For the record, we haven’t gotten that close yet."
"You kidding," Alanna said in surprise. "Girl, do you know how many of us want to bone him so that he could book us properly? We all gave you a golden chance, and you are still procrastinating about it. If it was me, I would have jumped his bones and made sure no one else comes within a ten-foot distance of him."
"I have been telling her to get a move on already," Diana said exasperatedly. "You do realize how attractive he is going to be after this article, right? While people in LWC know you two are a thing and wouldn’t make a move, the same couldn’t be said for others outside of LWC."
"What do you mean?" Dacey asked in surprise.
"Dacey, you are being a little naïve here," Evelyn shook her head in disbelief. "You know how tempting it is for wrestlers like us to have the spotlight, right? Rob has the talent to create a spotlight for anyone and provide them with the proper advice to make them shine. Such a person will be in the eyes of many female wrestlers."
"He doesn’t even need to give them the spotlight. Just listening to him talk and asking him to provide tips is enough to elevate anyone’s career to the next level. Tell me, which female wouldn’t jump on such an opportunity," Selena said shaking her head.
"Dacey, you need to understand that this business is cutthroat," Diana stated seriously looking at Dacey. "I have seen long-time friends stabbing each other in the back to get one extra opportunity to be in the spotlight. Someone like Rob who can help you increase your popularity is a hot package. He doesn’t need to do anything. Girls will be throwing them at him."
"If having a one-night stand with him will make him give me some tips to increase my popularity, I will be glad to do so," Fiona chimed in. "Rob is gracious enough to help us all here. So, no one wants to ruin that relationship by doing something stupid. But, the same couldn’t be said about wrestlers in other promotions right?"
Dacey looked dazed hearing these comments from her friends. She realized what they were telling was right. If it was before meeting Rob, even she might be tempted by the prospect of having a one-night stand and getting the needed help to increase her popularity.
Not to mention, Rob wasn’t bad to look at. She wasn’t a prude or anything. She had been single for a while and had been up and down the circle. So, she knew that her friends weren’t being alarmist here. They were only stating facts.
"The fact of the matter is, you better put out before someone else comes in and sweeps him away from you. We know that you are genuinely interested in him. That is the reason we haven’t made out moves, but don’t expect others to act in the same way. Gosh, woman! Can’t you see how much of a catch he is in our business?" Alanna said bonking hard a dazed Dacey on her head.
"Ouch! There is no need for that!" Dacey shouted rubbing her head.
"Get a move on, sista. If not, you can’t fault us if we decided to sample the pie," Alanna said licking her lips.
"Stay away from him, you harlot!" Dacey laughed and pushed Alanna away.
While she was laughing with her friends, her thoughts were running a mile a minute as she realized that it was time to do something to stake her claim on Rob. She liked Rob a lot. Not just as a booker, but as a person as well. So, it wasn’t an unappealing prospect.
It was just that she didn’t want to rush into things before this. But, this article changed things drastically. If even her friends who had encouraged her to ask him out were being tempted, there was no telling how other female wrestlers in other promotions are going to react.
She wasn’t ready to let go of a man who had genuinely gotten into her heart.
